    Which weights would you recommend to become faster on the ground? And also how can I train over-speed?

    Thank you! I was puzzled this year coaching two new (sophomore) boy triple jumpers. One is fast light springy and uses a full approach, the other is powerful, with beautiful phases but can’t go beyond a 5 step approach (can’t complete the jump). Both over 40ft first time out. Do you think I’ll have to coach the two real differently for their entire high school career? Any idea about how to do that? Thanks again for your very helpful and insightful work.

      Yes Both athletes will need different coaching styles and so will each jumper you gave. Coaching boys and girls from freshman to seniors can be a challenge. Great job thus far coach. You can set up a call with me and we can discuss ideas moving forward. Shoot me an email.

    Is it the same with the long jump? I feel that when running faster, I can't get high enough and as a result the distance is short.

    I am a masters athelete so suggest some jump drill that will help me to produce enough force for good jump.

    If i'm not mistaken, are you saying that squats will help me load my muscles faster and produce force faster off a full approach?
    Thanks

    • @keinanbriggs
      @keinanbriggs  8 лет назад +1

      +Abdullah Khan squats will give the you ability to create more force and create a stable environment. However, the time it takes to create that force needs to decrease within a full approach. Example, say you can squat 225lbs and it takes 3 seconds to complete. If I were to give you a max of 3 seconds to lift that weight each rep you would have no problem. If I were to cut that time to 2 seconds you would need to be that much stronger. Squats do not make you quicker squats get you stronger, then way you do them could increase your speed. Increasing strength will help you in all aspects. Over speed training will help you increase your speed and ability to generate power. Hope that helps.

      @@keinanbriggsso how would you suggest to do squats to make yourself quicker at loading your muscles?

    So with high jump, I find when I speed up its hard for me to get up verticaly, what should I do? more weights? please answer

    • @keinanbriggs
      @keinanbriggs  9 лет назад +1

      Augusta Grace two elements.. the Pendulum concept with attack the bar leaning away jump away the result is going to send you vertical. the other element is becoming more explosive will help you minimize the time spent on ground and increase your ability to jump vertically

    I couldn't understand the full and quarter squat explanation. You are saying in " pre season you wanna go to the ground, in fall a full squat". Can you explain?

    • @keinanbriggs
      @keinanbriggs  8 лет назад +3

      I use three types of squats. complete squats down to the ground for flexibility, full squats butt to knees, and quarter squats. quarter squats are specific to the long, triple, and high jump fictional strength. I taper up in my depth during season.

    • @nikolaydelibozov
      @nikolaydelibozov 8 лет назад

      Thanks for the reply. Butt to knees you mean that you legs are parallel to the ground?
