      Yeah, Nick Singer’s three tracks are mash-ups of Marathon and Halo pieces. The track list in the description lists the main elements of each track, although I think he may have incorporated elements of a few other tracks that didn’t make it into the track titles.

    Hallucinate is used my dude

    • @MarathonVidmaster
      @MarathonVidmaster  2 года назад +3

      No it isn’t. Source: I’m the codirector of the game, suggested most of the music changes in 1.2.0, and am personally responsible for all of them in 1.2.1 and 1.3. Just to make extra triple sure, I went back and checked 1.1.0 and 1.0.3’s maps, and it isn’t used in either of those either - and the Mark versions have only intro music. You’re probably remembering Rampancy’s stream, where they used this exact video as the source of their intro/break/outro music for most of the stream, and which undoubtedly got to “Hallucinate” at some point in one of them. But it has never been used in the game proper. It’s much too short and repetitive to be effective BGM - players would be tearing their hair out after five minutes of gameplay.

    38:45 - 1:04:46 These sound... familiar. They wouldn't happen to be from some OTHER Bungie IP, would they?

    • @MarathonVidmaster
      @MarathonVidmaster  Год назад +2

      as far as i know, the first one is a completely original composition. on the other hand, the second one’s title, “Leela / Covenant Dance”, may be a clue as to what two soundtracks it mashes up. “Chomber / Under Cover of Night” and ”Flowers in Heaven / A Walk in the Woods” also mash up songs from these two franchises.
      note also that the OST for _Eternal_ 1.3 adds “The Maw” to the latter of these. it’s not on RUclips yet because it’s not finished, but you can preview it at 1drv.ms/u/s!AuD0MykSsmaRnUJawmCYx8my2zSS?e=9rRYFa

      @@MarathonVidmaster Woah didn't think you'd respond lol.
      Could've sworn I heard the Halo melody behind that composition despite the rest being completely original otherwise. The other ones also do a great job at mashing up tracks while also being enjoyable on their own.
      Thanks for the link. Wasn't expecting that since 1.3 isn't even out yet. I'll definitely be giving these a listen. Also, thanks for uploading as much as you have in the first place. These OSTs are fantastic.

    • @MarathonVidmaster
      @MarathonVidmaster  Год назад +1

      No problem, and glad you’ve enjoyed them! And yeah, Nick did a superb job with his mash-ups. He’s now a professional composer who’s worked with the likes of Werner Herzog, a fact that doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. He’s also submitted new music for 1.3 - he created the opening three minutes or so of “Aerival”, filtering “Landing” through the style of _Blade Runner_ (hence its Ancient Greek subtitle meaning “dedicated to Vangelis”). Talashar did an equally superb job with the remaining twelve minutes; the whole composition is so ethereal you’ll feel like you’re floating out into space by the end of it.
      Anyway, 1.3 _final_ isn’t out, but previews have been for a while: eternal.bungie.org/development. Preview 6 should be out later this month… I hope. There’s still a decent amount of work to be done before 1.3 is entirely finished, but it’s made pretty solid progress.
      Anyway, I’ll have to go listen to Tommy’s tracks (and the _Halo CE_ OST) again later - it’s possible there’s a _Halo_ melody there that I missed.

      It’s not really my permission to grant, and unfortunately, I don’t have current contact info for Eike or Tommy. Nick has a contact form on his website (which is linked in the video description). I can try to pass a message along to Craig as well, though I can’t promise he’ll respond - it’s been a few years since I last heard from him.

    • @MarathonVidmaster
      @MarathonVidmaster  11 месяцев назад +2

      Sorry for the extremely delayed response - I only just heard back from Dr Hardgrove yesterday. I forgot to ask what version of “Leela” you wanted to use, so this won’t apply to “Leela / Covenant Dance” (since it’s not his track), but Dr Hardgrove said it’s fine to use his tracks as long as he receives credit. He’s been a bit busy sending things into space, so I’m willing to cut him a bit of slack for the delay. Probably too late to do any good, but better late than never.
      Anyway, while two of the versions of “Leela” are Dr Hardgrove’s work, “Leela / Covenant Dance” is Nicholas Singer’s. I don’t recall whether I asked Nicholas about people using his tracks, but his website’s footer - www.nicholassinger.com - lists his email address, so you can ask him yourself. He replies a bit more promptly than Dr Hardgrove, but we’re talking a case of (Spongebob narrator voice) “a few months later” versus “several years later”.
      I’d also make sure to mention that the _Marathon_ tracks were originally composed by Alexander Seropian, and that the _Halo_ tracks (if you use Nicholas’ mashups) were originally composed by Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori. Incidentally, O’Donnell is also fine with people reusing his music as long as he’s credited, and while he’s the Silent Bob of the pair, I suspect Salvatori probably is as well. (Though that doesn’t necessarily mean that Microsoft or Bungie will be if they happen to control the copyrights!)
