It's insane how one game can have so many tracks that are straight up iconic.
concordo completamente
Not at all, they were legends and we didn't know how good we had it.
@@Almeidaandry Quão raro é ver um Br comentando em vídeos de halo
I'm still overwhelmed with an indescribable feeling when I hear the choir in Ghosts of Reach
Before 0:26 is my all time favorite part of gaming
I think it might be frission
not upvoting...keeping them likes right at 117
it's probably a seizure
sooo Avatar... hmmm
Marty is a boss. He influenced my life heavily.
He's a great one to look up to. Amazing composer.
I can relate, he really is legendary
You guys see that cryptic video on Marty's YT channel? Is he seriously retiring for good or something?
Despite so much time passing now, it is incredible how compilations like these can immortalize entire eras of cultural media. You can just feel the 2000s vibes in this compilation & I love it. I miss those days but listening to this makes me feel like I have returned to a much simpler time.
In Amber Clad still sends shivers down my spine all these many years later.
"Unforgotten" is to me the most favorite song and talking about the best song, I'd guess we all can tell, that Martin O'Donnel ever created the best songs for this epic journey, the Halo universe let alone this one "special" who thought might interfere this connection.
Off the rock, through the bush, nothing but Jackal.
@@TheFyLu22 Bro Unforgotten From Both Halo 2 And Halo 3 Really Made/Makes Me Tear Up Or Actually Cry. I Love Those Songs So Much Even the Halo 2 Anniversary Version As Well 🥹🥲🥲🥹
We all love Marty, but remember there is also Michael Salvatore as composer. Give the man some credit as well.
Of course. Marty and Michael wrote these soundtracks by bouncing things between eachother.
I remember being 4 or 5 years old, my older brother teaching me how to play Halo on his original Xbox. I remember him beating my ass in privates over and over again, I remember being too scared to go past the invisible elite section in cairo. The pride I felt after finally beating the game was something I have never felt since, 22 years old now, gaming still a passion but I cannot help but realize that I will never get those feelings back. Now listening to this soundtrack back and visualizing the memories I had brings tears to my eyes, on the edge of my seat, glued to my TV, my hair most likely stuck to the TV because of the static. Sometimes I wonder if I've done everything right so far in my life, wondered if I've spent too much of my time living in fantasy worlds, but in this moment I feel as if I did it all right. I hope some of you can share these feelings and memories because I would not trade them for the world.
I can relate to this so much, I wonder the same things but believe Halo is worth spending time on.
Played through the first 3 games about a month ago. I was never allowed to play Halo as a kid as I had no older brother, and my parents were strict about any video games with blood. Even playing through at 20 years old, on mouse and keyboard, these games invoked a sense of mystery and wonder in me. I experienced a childlike glee as I moved from one mission to the next, the epic music and story guiding me and cementing my investment in the universe I had entered. Even today, the AI of the elites and the storytelling through gameplay in CE makes a mockery of most big studio shooters. I've played games my whole life - nothing has given me the immense feeling of investment I got on my first time through on CE, and much of Halo 2. The story, the old art (which i greatly prefer, despite the fact i have no nostalgic attachment), the looming, wondrous music, the setting of a far off war of advanced species battling for supremacy. You did not waste your time, because "time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted." - John Lennon
We're the same age. I nearly lost my balance as I continued to read your memoir.
You did just fine.
@@johnnybaxter1953 Had the same unfortunate circumstance with my parents. I pestered and nagged my parents to let me play Halo Reach for almost a year and a half when I was ten years-old or so until they finally let me play it. Bar none one of the best games I have played to date. A few years later I ended up getting an Xbox One for Christmas, and I had asked for the Halo 5 Xbox. My parents accidentally got me the Master Chief Collection Xbox instead. At the time, I was somewhat disappointed (got Halo 5 not too long after though), but over time I realized how grateful of an experience it was to have received MCC. It introduced me to the first three games which I had never played fully (Halo CE and 2 not at all), with Halo 2 becoming my all time favourite Halo game for its campaign alone, and allowed me to revisit some previous experiences (though minimal). Eventually, got me invested into the franchise, as well as introducing me to Destiny and Destiny 2, absolutely my most played franchise alongside Halo (and good ol' Mario, lol).
the halo soundtracks just make me wanna cry
Make US wanna cry
(The Halo community)
@@DarenKajiWolf Not for everybody.
Heretic, Hero is forever gonna be my favorite track.
Hearing that come in after getting plopped down on the ring while blasting stuff with a Scorpion driving through ruins. Oh yes.
No other music in any game can beat this single track. Fucking legendary.
And when you play as the Arbiter in the last mission, shooting down brutes with your wraith or ghost.
I really like how the best of halo 2 soundrack is basically the full Halo2 soundtrack. And I couldn't agree more
Unyielding is honestly one of my favourite Halo songs. It sounds aggressive, fast, and epic, without taking it over the top. Honestly fits for a Warthog Run.
It's what I appreciate about Halo themes in general, they are especifically and carefully manufactured to complement your experience without being too noisy. Doom fans forgive me, but the main theme of it is nothing compared to the likes of Unyielding, Reclaimer, and Follow in Flight.
No other game series can stand up to the masterfully done soundtracks of the first 3 halo games
i tried to think of something. damn
Yakuza
@ChangeMyMind meme
Doom did pretty well
I put this on while studying for an exam, fell asleep and woke up 2 hours later defending New Mombasa from a Covenant invasion with Sgt. Johnson and Cortana
Earth City gives me chills. Remember when I was 13 watching the E3 demo video of Halo 2 on my Xbox and getting more hype for that than anything I had in my life.
I still wonder how they made that distinct sound that appears in "High Charity." Amazing, such nostalgia for all time.
It sounds like the choir from a different part of the game, though I can't remember which. It sounds like a muffled filter was put over it though. To give it that ethereal sound.
It sounds to me like the chorus function of a keyboard (The one designed to sound like a choir of human voices) under a heavy synthesiser.
the eire sound that kinda wraps around you?
Yeah, high Charity is beautiful, from the second I heard that song I immediately fell in love with it
Mjolnir mix is so badass
Kids nowadays won't get the same feeling as we got playing through this
srgtdonut straight up man
I only had 2 Xbox games.
halo 2 and dino crisis 3.
I was quite happy switching between the two. brings back good times.
@@jacobcook2276 you had that halo 2 nostalga feeling too. :)
just heading to sleep listaning to this.
kanatapaw hella dude the first game I ever played was halo combat evolved on the first Xbox ever since then halo has been my favourite video game franchise
I'm only 14 yet I still have memories of playing halo. Let's just say I have a good uncle. I get shivers hearing that shriek of the guitar in the opening theme. I've only ever played the original reach and master chief collection, in which I own. But uhhh....jackal snipers amirite?
Dude the overwhelming feeling of sorrow and woe upon listening to "High Charity Suite" is captivating. In tears.
49:32 that one time you got a gold elite as an ally with a sword, the enemy that terrified you in halo 1 and you’ve never been happier to see that bastard in your life
AMEN. just "Look at y'all run! How you like it?! shit wasn't fun for me either!"
I hear Peril..... and so many memorries from my childhood flash back to me. its incredible how powerful a song can be
I wish I could go back to 2004. The games back then were amazing and, in my personal opinion, the best to ever exist.
“Dear Sarge, kicking ass in outer space, wish you were here.”
“I heard that, jackass.”
Sounds like Johnson to me
one of the best soundtracks in any game. So much nostalgia.
I was born in 2010, so I could not experience this in the era it was in. But I've been playing halo for years. It is the only video game series that has influenced my life. I can feel the nostalgia.
Also, this is great but where is reclaimer.
@@jpendleton4331 Same. I was born in 2010 too. Man I would've loved to experience those games when they came out...
Bro if you would only know..
@vincent slaats Tell me this Sacred knowledge.
It was, by far, one of the most memorable moments in my life. The music, the gameplay, the multiplayer...it was so perfect.
sleeping next to the one you love while listening to these ost, is your halo to another universe.♡
Damn. Wonder what that feels like.
It feels like dreaming of the girl of your dreams and meeting her in reality ^u^
Oh my god on my way
if you had someone... *starts crying*
Thank you for the nostalgia.
I'm 35. Thank you Bungie for the memories. Greatest era in gaming and we got to live it.
It's gratifying seeing so many feel the same about halo 2. The soundtrack is nostalgic for us. Takes us back in time with memories of 12 to 20+ hour sessions.
Unyielding is fucking masterful, the whole thing is really
Halo 2 is such a a masterpiece. Listening to the soundtrack (which is beyond amazing) takes me back to playing the game for so many hours as a kid. Especially when Ghosts of Reach comes on.
Exactly.
Heretic Hero was something else. In Amber Clad gave a curious sense of... "this is it. the final stretch." Heavy Price Paid brings tears to my eyes. it was menu music, the background music of a level, and speaks to me on several levels. why, I couldn't tell you. then, or 20 some odd years later.
Heavy Price Paid brings me back to playing custom games with my older brothers when I was around 6 or 7
"The brutes they've betrayed us" my favorite line in that whole game
Halo two still has the greatest soundtrack out of all the games
Or maybe even best game soundtrack of all time
God Of War comes close to Halo

I don't know what halo song my all-time favorite is but, it's like probably 10 of them! Love them all the same!
halo was the first game i ever played
Same.
For me it was Yie Ar Kung Fu
I’m 53 and dear god I loved playing halo since it first came out …
Halo 2 has the best soundtrack
It's so hard for me to pick, I love them all so much. My heart tells me that my favorite soundtrack is Reach, but then I hear this and I'm not quite sure.
this is literally the best shit ever

Sir, Permission to leave the station ....
On what grounds Masterchief?
To give the covenant back their bomb!
Permission Granted!
I know what you're thinking, and it's crazy.
So stay here.
Unfortunately for us both, I like crazy.
to think that i was listening this at the same time i was been taught how to talk, write, read. Sometimes when i tell people that never played halo how close and meaningful this piece of media is for me they dont understand it and i dont judge them tbh even if you want to play the games now and have fun i think is one of those things that you had to experience it when it came out to understand it. All the memories all the friends all the custom games. I am in forever debt to every bungie developer and of course to martin and michael for this piece of art. They truly changed my life for the better.
I'm gonna convince some of my buddies to play Halo 1-3
with me like we did in the old days, never hurts to relieve some of those simple moments
we never thought would really end.
I always imagine co-op and XBL with my buddies while listening to this beautiful soundtrack. Halo 2/3 forever.
Oh man, I do love the Peril. Such a progressive track!
Says it’s the best of the halo 2 soundtrack; plays the entire soundtrack because it’s all amazing !
The drums/percussion in this soundtrack are dope af, especially Heretic Hero and Flawed Legacy. Has a hip hop feel.
343 views.. im done. Nice mix!
I am only 11 but I connect with this song because I played halo since 2016 to 2019
Not long but still is a big part of my childhood so far
I feel like I can conquer the whole world listening to this song. Such great times that kids today will just never understand
peril. i can almost hear the needler rounds and grunts in the background. Battlerifle popping bursts indiscriminately. couple marines yell something silly and then a spnkr goes off.
4:14 "Dear sarge, kicking ass in outer space. Wish you were here!"
Goosebumps all over every single track!
Shivers down my spine from the very first song, MJOLNIR MIX!
Hot damn Marty did a great job :)
42:53 "Dear Humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to Earth, and we most definitely regret that the Corps blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
OOH-RAH
My favourite is the finale, it just sounds epic and wonderful
Even as a little kid you knew this soundtrack was fire. I got Halo 2 at Best Buy on the way back from vacation around 2006. Way overdue but it was fun. Then a year later halo 3 for Christmas and so on
It was around 2004, this had just released. I rented it from my local video game store. My friend and I split screened the whole campaign. We were left on a cliff hanger... we were salty, but those times. I would do anything to go back, anything. I would give up everything I have now.
No one will appreciate this soundtracks this feeling these memories .....
I feel sad for them
Title: "Best of the Halo 2 Soundtrack"
Video: * Literally the entire Halo 2 Soundtrack *
Me: * firmly nods in agreement *
I keep this on a loop at 16:20, "In Amber Clad", and play it when 'Gunner', my purebred Brittany goes on point in front of me while hunting Pheasants.
That is legendary 😂
Listening to heavy price paid always gets me so sad, love the mission it’s from though. The song reminds me of the good days when I was playing halo 2 campaign and halo reach multiplayer I am about to be 18 and pretty much grew up with halo and I don’t regret any of it I will always come back to halo.
BEST FUCKING SOUNDTRACK OF ALL THE TIME IN HALO UNIVERSE
Unforgotten might be one of the songs ever
Thank you for this
my top 3 favorite Halo tracks come from this game
1. Heavy Price Paid
2. In Amber Clad
3. Ghosts of Reach

Now that was a game
damit man now i got to pull out my old xbox and get the bungi intro as well
When the drums hit on ghosts of reach always gives me the feels
Halo 2 you could really feel the forerunners regret for what they had to do. Loved the callouts in the series, the monitors names, and songs included were fantastic.
Mombasa Suite is a instant classic! *Chefs kiss*
Not long but it did take up most of my gaming experience of my childhood so far
Nolstagic as fuck. Used to play this with my bro and cousin split screen co-op.
At 8:11 that should part should be used for a Halo trailer for Halo infinite or if they ever make an elite based game this should be the teaser for it
I have an electric bike and a really good Bluetooth speaker and very often I've biked through my city seeing the neon lights at night or early at sunrise on highway width roads blasting Halo music. With weed of course but not always! It's honestly an amazing experience on an electric bike it just feels so cool like you're going onto a mission to defeat some covenant who have infiltrated your city.
ive had this song stuck in my head. for a good long while... i could never find the name... thanks to you, ive discovered the name for Ghosts of Reach :)
For me simply the best ost of all times, movies or games included, a piece of art
High Charity still gives me goosebumps. That freaking sound and the vocals over it ahhh
great quality, thanks man
Crazy to think we may get to play the beta level for Halo 2 soon on MCC !!!
It's 12 am. I got work tomorrow. I've just taken a bowl. My mind is foggy, but my goals have never been more clear. Impend starts to play.
I can be tired at work.

Me and my best mate. We couldn't play Xbox live so we played the campaign to death. We didn't know at the time but it was the best time of our lives.
Good times. Although for me it was mostly getting my butt kicked in multiplayer.
In amber clad !!
I love how the og halo 2 soundtrack is subtle and builds up, the anniversary version is too bombastic.
Every time I hear Heretic Hero. I feel like falling from orbit in a fucking fiery drop pod at hundreds of miles per hour smoking a cigar with a rifle on my right. If ODST's were real. They'd be feared more than any warrior in Human history.
My brother asked me to turn on this music. I think he's gone crazy.
milojnr mix= best intro for a game

that's the good stuff
The nostalgia…this takes me back to much simpler times.
The Halo soundtrack is so good it makes me wanna play halo
I don't have any prior knowledge of Halo, I just know that it's a great soundtrack to study too.
Mombasa Suite ... FUCK!!! HOW MUCH I LOVED THAT in the game with the Hunters in mission 2... God! Halo must be played in Legendary or nothing!!!
Did u know on Outskirts there's a secret Energy Sword?
Mjolnir Mix is just straight-up fire. I vibe so hard to it every time.
