      Thanks. The video was inspired by people wondering around Castleton confused.
      I even had two cars stop and ask me how to get to it from their window!

    This is really helpful, thank you. Hoping to do this at the weekend. Will have to start the walk at Edale though as I believe it’s the nearest train station from Manchester.

      I'm not sure. I'll have a look. I assume you arrive without transport?

      You can do a circular which is 7.4km in length.

    Thank you so much for this video! Thanks to you we went there yesterday and did just as you suggested parking at the national trust mam tor car park (called mam nick car park and not so easy to find for us! ) with a short hike up to mam tor, then straight across to Hollin's Cross then back again. It was well worth the effort for the views!!! We went later in the day around 5pm and there was plenty of parking ( those who arrived earlier had left). I'm not fit and just about managed it with the family. Would recommend you follow the advice in this video especially if you have kids with you. Thanks again 😊

      That is awesome. I was surprised by how accessible it was also, which I thought was great.

      Thanks. I just know I've ended up in Castleton a few times and decided not to figure it out so I thought I'd save some other people the effort. 😁🤔

    Coming down the side of the hill from Hollins cross was the hardest bit. So slippery and muddy! Take a walking stick for balance.

    sorry for the late comment but at 1:40 when you said it would take 1-2 hours for the full route is that just for the mam tor or the whole thing ?

    Excellent video thank you! Can I ask how long the walk from the car park to the top of mam tor takes? We are hoping to catch the sunrise and wondering how much time we need to give 😅 thanks !

    • @NarrativeEscapes
      @NarrativeEscapes  Год назад

      It's not long. I suspect 10-30 minutes depending on fitness.
      You'd have to be taking it very slow to take 30 minutes. It had been a while since I did it so there is some wobble factor on that guess.

    It may be worth noting that the local council traffic enforcement officers will happily give you a ticket if you don't park in the designated road parking spaces near the car park. i.e. grass verges. Especially Bank Holidays and weekends, which also includes winter Christmas/ New years holidays.

      I am sure, that's why I went for the car park. It's one of the grand annoyances I have with places like the Peak District and The Lakes.
      Heh, this hike is awesome just be aware the car park has enough space for only six cars, etc.
      I get why it's the case but it does make the place very hard to experience / penetrator.

      I've never done it Winter. Only done it once! As long as the weather was okay I am sure it'd be fine. The only thing I'd call out it the route I took down might be a bit challenging if very muddy and wet.
