- Hey, this is a route called the rivers way, I got from a book by John Merrill! I may have changed / improved the end section of the route (in my opinion) it was a fantastic hike through the heart of the Peak District!
training for the Pembrokeshire coast path ill be taking on soon, look out for the video!
ill also be posting a video soon on all the gear I use, with links to find it for you! don't forget to subscribe and let me know in the comments if there are any other hikes you'd enjoy watching!
I also post a lot of shorter vids on other platforms you can find me @samrculley
I appreciate the support, happy hiking!
Enjoyed this longer form video, interested in seeing more long and shorter walks / places to visit in the Peak District and beyond.
Thanks for watching! I’ll keep the videos coming!
gorgeous ... and the nature and countryside is nice too.
I like the way you push yourself but also take care of your comfort. The video strikes a good balance for catering to lots of different people. You've got info on kit, terrain etc for serious hikers and info on stops for people who like a nice walk in pretty scenery.
The map is really helpful for us oldies who would like to do the route but quite a bit slower than you did, helps plan long pub lunches between campsites!
I'd like to see a walk down south. The Wessex Ridgeway is similar to this walk. Lots of climbs and descents, a mixture of chalkland down and woodland as well as a bit of agricultural land although from memory the cows were mostly contained!
Being middle aged, I much prefer the RUclips videos to the rushed short TikTok videos. Great route idea that I've never heard of. I think you have been very clever by getting yourself on TikTok. Even people not into the outdoors have asked me if I've seen your TikTok videos. I'd say if possible do both as one of the things that gets people coming back is personality and I personally prefer RUclips as we get to see more of your personality, and the realistic ups and downs of your adventures. As you can tell I'm not a TikTok fan but I totally get why you would get yourself on there and it's clever these days to do so as it's what the younger audience prefers. If possible and time permits though do these too as I really enjoy these a lot more. 👍
I love the long form trail adventures.
thank you for sharing Sam.. what a brilliant hike.. great updates along the trail regarding kit ect and always a quick chat with the sheep & cows as you pass by. looking forward to the next adventure. take care🙂
brilliant video loved it, so much detail, you do make it look so easy 😀
As a beginner, I'd love to know more about beginner hikes, how to even start solo camping and getting out of your comfort zone with this!. Tips and tricks that you've found along the way.
I'd be interested to know how much food and essential kit to take too especially given the weight of everything
I much prefer youtube to tiktok and insta so please post more on here too if you can
Thanks and keep up the great content! :D
i came across you on TikTok and only just discovered your youtube channel and i am glad I did. I much prefer the longer format. I would love to see more Peak District hikes and places as I will be there in September. and looking forward to seeing your Pembrokeshire hike too. Keep the videos coming Sam :)
Well done! Thoroughly enjoyed your walk with you! Scenery looks fantastic. Thank you for bringing us along.
Outstanding solo adventure man, this looks and sounds great!
Great video, thanks!
If you ever get time, please do a video on basic hiking kit- what to include in bag, best hiking shoes etc.
Thanks.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Great seing the kit needed as well as parts of the routes... hard work that walking... knowing the little things that help make a big difference
Great hike that, I walk regularly along the Derwent and Noe to Hathersage. A great route. Would be really interested in the GPX file or route it you have it. Cheers 😊
Really like the longer videos, keep them coming!
Love the longer form stuff. You're a natural in front of the camera. I'm moving back to the UK this year after 5 years overseas and these are getting me psyched to get back to the British outdoors, we've got some stunning landscape on our doorsteps!
I like these where there is a full on hike, camp, views and I like the 60 seconds ones also nice shoes I have altars, I have a Morton’s neuroma so I need a large toe box. I also have some keen shoes which are side toe box. You need waterproof socks though
Great video, like the kit reviews, trail and area info, 🎉 just keep smiling 🙂
Thanks Andrew! 👍👍
Great video. Interested in a pair of those shoes! My great grandad used to live in the house as you approached Milldale. He was the river warden and built many of the fishing weirs that you would have passed. Lovely spot!
Don’t get me wrong it’s how I come across your videos on the quick shorts on FB but really enjoyed watching your long form video. Like others have said, we get to know a bit more about your personality and this walk looks decent. I’m glad it’s not just me that says hello to the sheep as you pass 👍🏼🤣 look forward to the next one.
cracking video i loved the longer video it give the viewers more of a feel for the hike and location plus it lets people get to know you better and i think that is good for getting that connection with the subscribers even more 😊. its good seeing a different approach i look forward to more
Thanks a lot matey! I agree for sure!
Appreciate that 👍🥾🏕️
@@Samrculley no worries look forward to your next video I'm in Wales doing cadair Idris and Arran fawddwy from 2nd till 5th June so hopefully plenty of pics and video to sift through when I'm back 😊 only cost £36 at fronalchen caravan and campsite which is close to both locations too
Good going Sam - there was so much in this one all I'll say is I enjoyed a full happy view. Re-pitching in the lowland I find there is a trick in that fallow fields often gold the key. If they are lay fallow, have no quad bike tracks or livestock in them chances are they're on a different rotation and safe to camp in - that's my experience anyway. As for the shoes - a good investment as was the walk. Cracking. Mark
Ohh that’s handy to know mate! Thanks for sharing! And thanks for watching 🙏
@@Samrculley Yeah, love reading the land and what's going on. It can help. A pleasure to watch.
Just discovered this channel. Would love if you did a video on wild camping in more agriculture areas - also, come check out the Fens also 😊
Great Video Sam, i would love to see the Adventure. Just be yourself, bring us along with the decision making right or wrong, show your kits as you use.. just have fun. On a side note have you ever thought about doing the Camino De Santiago? There is a Great film about it with Martin Sheen that's worth a watch called "The Way"
Awesome video 👍👍
Thanks Jon!
Fantastic video. Such a beautiful area. I like the info you give on your kit too. I’m wondering if those houses in Edensor belong to the Chatsworth Estate 🤔. Think I’ve seen a programme which talked about it. It’s pretty special isn’t it.
I follow you on instagram and like the format but this was a nice extra. Thank you
Apparently the houses at Edensor used to be closer to chatsworth house but the duke said they ruined his view and got all bar one of them moved further away! Haha love it!
Thanks for watching 🙏
Good watch, I watched your coast to coast a few days ago. Really enjoy your longer form videos. Any footage of your lands end hike? In terms of what your talking about keep mixing it up. Never watched anything hiking related when I came across your videos just travel stuff before that but stumbled across this. Great watch
Thanks so much for watching!
Annoyingly I sold the phone I had all the footage of that on and hadn’t backed it up properly! Left with a few photos and the odd reel I’d uploaded on the trail! 😂 gutted
Appreciate the comment! 👍🥾
awesome vid love the content man!
Thanks a lot jack!
Great video, i like your short ones with postcodes for parking etc but i have to watch them a few times to get all the info lol. This was more relaxed and a good watch i shall definitely be doing this walk. As a solo female hiker i like to see videos of potential hikes just so i can get an idea of the surroundings before hand. More of these videos on RUclips please 👌🥾🎒 , do you have a map file of this route please?
Thanks a lot for watching!
I have uploaded the route onto my bio on insta and Facebook etc… called the rivers way (Sam’s version)
I’m the same I like to watch videos on routes especially the multi day ones to see what it’s going to be like!
Thanks again for watching 🙏
Another cracking vlog dude. Couple of questions. Do you record all your content on a phone? And are you going to put the route on strava so I can pinch it and use it 😀👍 I’m planning on giving it a crack next week ( first week of June ) Hopfully
Very inspiring watching your videos I’m just getting back into hiking after many years away from it your videos have helped could you please tell me what navigation device you use as I’m thinking of doing the pennine way before my 60th got a few years yet so looking at getting a few wainwrights done and hopefully some big ones , Snowdon ,scaffel pike , Ben Nevis etc
Great videos, what's your background?
You should try biltong snacks for more protein.
hi Sam, don't suppose you know what the campsite is called please or the village? thanks
Stocking farm caravan site it comes up as on Google maps mate
Hi buddy I wanna do this route end of August. Have you posted the actual map route anywhere. I can’t see it in your Strava.
Don’t worry, I found it on your os maps buddy! 🙌 doing it on the 30th August.
Nice one mate enjoy!!
@@Samrculley cheers mate I’ll let you know how I get on. 😅
what are the trainers you are wearing in this video ?
Topo ultraventure 3s mate
@@Samrculley cheers pal 👍
Great video, really enjoyed it, l follow you on instagram and facebook and love the short videos but they always leave me wanting more, so this longer video on RUclips is most welcome 👍 i’d like to see kit videos and your hikes in more detail. Keep up the great work
Thanks Paul! Defo up for talking more about kit etc i love hiking gear so I’ll be sure to add more of that in!
