  • Ben Wikander, a former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, described what he witnessed when Nikolas Cruz opened fire inside the school on February 14, 2018. Wikander described what happened during the shooting and how he was injured, suffering a gunshot wound to his wrist that damaged his radial nerve. Wikander said the nerve still hasn't completely grown back and he's been forced to wear a brace ever since.

While I agree that the court system in the US is largely inefficient, I'm happy this trial is being broadcasted as long and detailed as it is. It not only gives the family of the victims the choice to confront the killer, air their grievances etc, but it reminds the entire nation AND the world about how terrible this shooting was. There are too many conspiracy theorists that think several mass shootings have been staged by crisis actors. I hope this trial serves to drill into these people's heads that shootings and the victims of such deserve more respect than being labeled a hoax. It also serves as an example to anybody else contemplating such heinous acts that it is not fame and glory that await them after, but notoriety, abhorrence and national shame.

Cruz ACTIONS that day were significant but without an automatic gun he is insignificant and a pathetic excuse of a human that holds no power, the gun gave him power.
Every day we hear how these brave people have moved on with their lives and not allowed his ACTIONS to stop them.
He is so pathetic they don't give him any of the attention he so desparetely craves.

Just like in that mall incident that isn't mainstream news, one good guy with a gun will stop a bad guy with a gun easily. 10 shots, 7 hits, and threat was neutralized in under 2 minutes of the onset.
Stop trying to take guns away from people who use them for the right reasons.

It's regular protocol, their basis being that a/any piece of evidence might bias the jury against the defendant. If they didn't object NC could file a motion for a mistrial because he was misrepresented by his attorneys or did not provide an adequate defense. Like I said, it's routine and common.

I hate everything bad that happens to my fellow human beings. Yeah, I've made mistakes before, but I always do want to deviate away from anything that might harm someone. My heart goes out to the victims and the families of them. There was no reason for him to do what he did. Many years ago, I found out something good about myself. Maybe it's embarrassing that it happened, but something good came out of it: I could never shoot a person. I love people, and I always want to help people.I want to say God Bless You to all of you. Monsters like him are the worst of the worst of the worst. They can kill us and not even feel guilty about it. I think the bad stuff that we already endure is too horrible, and, to add to that, there are people like Nikolas who are in our world? They don't care about anyone but themselves. That sucks!

@Boston Gal That sounds like a giant blanket statement. Without us talking to every single parent attending this hearing to gather their thoughts, we have absolutely no idea how harmful or not these hearings are. But if i had to guess, reliving the moments in detail of how their sons or daughters were nearly murdered during school might bring up some pretty troubling thoughts that could harm anyone’s mental well-being. Not saying a hearing is not needed, but telling someone they have no idea what they’re talking about when you don’t either, and neither do I or anyone else except the parents or survivors, is a bit out there.
