    • @BanterBangers
      @BanterBangers 15 дней назад +2

      Using this to judge and generalize Americans is ridiculous. What we can definitely get from your comment is that you don't read or listen. There is no indication that these people did not research the travel advisory. They simply grabbed a bag to the airport and the bag had some bullets that they did not know was there and that clearly wasn't caught by TSA in the US or even any of the scanners when they were entering Turks and Caicos. Sounds like these people made a mistake. People are human, humans make mistakes. If they had a gun that would be a whole different story but this guy had a few bullets. Let's say you work at a restaurant and the employee rules are to make sure every customer has a good dining experience. One day, you accidentally trip with a glass of water in your hand, and the water spills and gets a customer wet. The customer is upset because she is wet because of you. Your boss fires you for giving the customer a bad dining experience. You say, "But it was an accident." Your boss responds, "One of our rules is to make sure every customer has a good experience; you broke that rule, so you're fired." How do you feel about that? Was the punishment just or unjust? Does the punishment need to be tailored to your intentions or is it correct to respond to accidents and evil intentions with the same punishment?

    If people from other countries come into America, we expect them to abide by our laws and rules. We don't want to give foreigners a break because they're ignorant of our laws. 12 years is honestly overkill, but that alone doesn't make it okay for Americans to go there, break their laws, and expect special treatment just because they are Americans. If we expect law and order in America, we have to accept that other countries want the same. This guy is obviously rich, and that makes him think he's entitled. @@mirrrie Have you never heard of an unjust punishment for accidentally breaking a law? Punishments are designed for actions with intent. When an action is not motivated by evil intent, the punishment needs to be tailored to the accident. This guy traveled without a gun and had no intention to harm anyone, had no intention to bring hunting ammo with him, but accidentally traveled with hunting ammo from a previous trip. Also considering the circumstance where the ammo was found by chance as opposed to him consciously handling it, and he had no way to discharge it, the 12 years in prison is an extremely excessive and inappropriate for such an accident.

      @@mirrrie Let's say you work at a restaurant and the employee rules are to make sure every customer has a good dining experience.

Look, I have sympathy for what they’re going through, however, to hear her admit that they travel internationally often, but don’t think to review travel advisories for the areas they’re traveling to - I travel internationally very infrequently and one of the first things I do before deciding where to go/booking is checking the current travel advisories. It’s terribly unfortunate, but they did break the law - one that was very clearly advised, so now they’re dealing with those consequences. I wish them the best.

Neither of them will take responsibility for checking their OWN baggage that they themselves have packed when they KNOW that they have weapons and ammunition in their house and they use the very same bags to travel with weapons and ammunition to go hunting????? And the wife shirks responsibility for them FAILING to check travel advisories because according to her she doesn't think that “most people do.” Well if you CHOOSE TO FAIL to take ammunition out of your bag, if you CHOOSE TO FAIL to even check your bag for ammunition or a weapon, and if you CHOOSE TO TRAVEL to a country where bringing in ammunition is ILLEGAL, and if you CHOOSE TO BE IGNORANT of that country's laws, then you should EXPECT to suffer THE CONSEQUENCES FOR YOUR ACTIONS and your FAILURE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS.
