I've owned my Celerio for 4 years now and have had 0 problems with it , it's THE most frugal car I've ever owned and on a long run ( ie Derbyshire to Scotland which we have done twice ) the car averages 76.5 mpg . Apart from oil changes and fluid top ups ( it hasn't needed the coolant topping up in FOUR YEARS since new ) it hasn't cost me a penny , it's still on the original tyres and brake discs and pads :)
Same, 0 issues, we loved it. Had the dual jet version for 6 years. The best consumption was 620 miles with 35 litres. Reliable simple car. Cheap interior, but worth every penny. Max speed was 122 mph (GPS, Germany) 😄⚡ the dual jet gear ratio is different I believe. 2nd gear up to 60mph. Almost forgot to mention I've replaced the radio with an android 2dim system. Huge display I had MS Teams, Outlook, and remote desktop on it 😂 plus linked to a BT OBDII reader Torque Pro app with many gauges... Reversing cam, keyboard and mouse. I called him White Batmobile.
It's an absolutely brilliant car, I am blown away by it. I have been in the motor industry and drove all its competitors. As far as I am concerned, it is the biggest in its class. Because it is so light, the performance is ample. You simply rev it, in fact there is a noticeable kick in power just before the redline. The fuel consumption is shockingly good. The recommended tyre pressures are very high, dropping them by as little as 5% makes a noticeable difference to the ride quality. The handling is good. Yes, the steering doesn't have a strong self-return action, but have you driven the last three generations of Honda Jazz? It's the same, but those cars are much more expensive. This car has to be reviewd in the context of what it is and if you do that, this is a winner.

Shame they're ~10k now and laden with nonsense to keep the yoofs entertained. ;)
Paul Sykes I always think the Celerio and the original Aygo would have been a direct replacement for the original Mini, and ive owned all three in my time. All cheap and all great fun in a rollerskate kind of way. A man on Auto Trader in the customer reviews got a Celerio for his wife I think, he loves it and says his 5 series BMW is dull by comparison, and I know exactly what he means. I earn decent money but ive never been interested in big cars. My theory is if you cant wash the entire car with one bucket of water and a sponge, its too big :D Ive mainly had small hatchbacks since I passed my test in 1986, and the Celerio was so much fun and very nippy. I only got rid because I saw a bargain Yaris new, and id wanted one of those for a couple of years. It turned out to be the dullest car ever and regret parting with the Celerio.
Yep, i get that. I've driven some pretty cars that have been really dull to drive, many still think a quicker car will always be more fun than a slower car and that isn't always the case. For me, i still like the minimalist cars, there's a sense of purity somehow. The fact that i sold an Ibiza FR for the C1 and still had a grin on my face says it all. There again you can have the best of both worlds and have a small, taught basic but quick car and end up with a Twingo cup but we'll never see those cars again and the PCP financed punters want soggy gin palaces and the manufactures, being no fools, will make them...
The Suzuki celerio is a very underrated car. I have owned mine since 2017 and it gives the best mpg of any car that I have ever owned (mostly diesels) and this little car keeps up with all traffic including on motorways, I’m 6ft3 and find the car very comfortable even on long journeys, the longest journey being from Southampton to Newcastle to Blackpool and back to Southampton which worked out to be 745 + miles and the car did not miss a beat and the passengers with me said that they felt comfortable, another bonus is that The car is exempt from road tax. All this for less money than you would spend on a set of new wheels and tyres for a BMW or Audi.

over in the Philippines, this car gets a touch screen sound system and navigation, fog lamps, electric mirror adjustment, and electric rear windows as standard since there's only one trim that costs about £9050 or £9750 depending on transmission choice. the CVT is pretty quiet and gets up to speed well enough. oddly enough though, this version doesn't get any adjustments for either the headrests nor seat height in the front as a tradeoff
It's one of those cars like the Mk2 Nissan Micra that will outlast other cars twice as much to buy simply because of it's cheap maintenance and reliability. A first time second hand car buyers excellent choice
The steering not self straightening mentioned in this video is because the Toe angle is set to a more neutral position (Meaning the tyres don't toe outwards which would cause the wheels to pull them selves back straight). This is mostly done to reduce rolling resistance and maximize fuel economy. My Aygo is the same and you can quite literally steer to the correct angle for a corner and take your hands off the wheel and it will continue through the corner in what ever position you set the steering in. I've actually grown to quite like this kind of steering characteristic, any car that I've driven since that has strong self righting I just feel like I'm constantly having a wrestling match with the steering wheel. Personally I don't have any issues as I feel letting go of the steering wheel to straighten up is just a bad driving habit and potentially dangerous if you hit a bump or pothole while doing so.
I wish Suzuki would stop using cheap plastics and go for an upmarket interior. Cars like the Jimny would be more desirable if the interior wasn’t from the 90s.
SocAnxDis Hunters and foresters don't want a desireable interiour, they want interiour that's easy to clean and doesn't get damaged when you throw a dead boar on the passenger seat. Upmarket for a Jimny wtf...
I agree with you about Suzuki! I have a ‘99 Jimny and I absolutely love it. It’s not a fast car and it’s not a well handling car but as my first car there’s something incredibly fun about it to drive. Plus it can go anywhere. However, there’s no way I’d buy a new one. I feel like Suzuki is starting to go off as the budget brand, and while they’ve never been an expensive car, the new ones seem a lot cheaper and nastier now. It’s a shame, the brand seems to have potential. Especially with a car like the Jimny and Vitara.
"It's the cheapest car I've ever reviewed for carwow". And the criticism included in it. How much can you expect from a cheap car? Typical British attitude.
Mat, please don’t slate a car based on it’s price tag and interior plastics. Not all of us can afford £20k plus cars with soft touch materials. This is an affordable car with a decent amount of space for the price....if it’s not expensive you don’t seem to be interested in reviewing it 😡
Adam Pritchard a bit too nitpicky for a really cheap car really yeah unless Mat can justify the attitude by telling us a much better option for the same money.
I love your car reviews Mat, but I have to ask why does it matter if the car has a plastic dashboard? If it were a leather dashboard over time it would just dry out and start cracking, I’m not sure if that a problem across the pond in the UK, but here in Nevada I’ve dealt with those type of issues when I owned my BMW.
The Celerio has some impressive MPG scores. On honest Johns real user submitted MPG figures for the 1L dualjet is at 71mpg with a user submission range of 55-82mpg.
I 've got the 2015 model . Its fun to drive , fairly nippy , very frugal and with a comfy suspension. Amazingly roomy cabin , too. The major drawback is the very poor road noise isolation. The turning cycle is pretty large though. Other than that its a sensible , reliable ,simple ,fuss free motoring.
Not interested in fancy decorations, unnecessary gizmos etc, far more important is reliability and economy. Had my Suzuki Ignis for 8.5 years, never once let me down and apart from servicing and one set of new tyres didn’t cost me anything in repair bills. So this car will suit me fine!
This is called suzuki cultus in pakistan and it have power windows and auto gear shift and it have retractable side view mirrors and also a head unit but after marketed
I own (still) the 2014 model. The plastic is ugly but guys... the fuel consuming is so low and it never required any extra maintenance. My greatest pleasure came when I used it to buy a sofa at Ikea's and it fitted perfectly in the trunk (and to see the envy in the eyes of the other people freaking out with their very very fancy car with not enough space).
HONEST REVIEW. I own Celerio VXi optional( air bag and ABS). Very convenient and smooth in handling. I have driven 140 km/hr in Bangalore Hassan Highway. Good mileage. There was no vibration at all. I have also driven the same car in madikeri ghat roads. It was very convenient. It was not difficult at all to drive on ghat roads. Only lagging is the pick up. Not sure about the built quality. Keep in mind that no car is safe when you are driving above 100 km/hr.
Gundeep Virdi in malaysia we have superior car called perodua axia. It has 3 ancap, 2 airbag, abs and ebd. Starting this year, malaysian government obligate all car must have vsc.
Comparing the old CBU (Japan) Suzuki Karimun to the new Indian based Karimun Wagon R, I'd still say the old Karimun was much better in terms of build quality, and everything except power. 46hp carbed 4 cylinder life.
I have the 2016 mid-range one, cost me £6900 OTR. That stuff about the mirrors is just nonsense, they are fine, the steering I soon got used to. And I soon got very used to paying no tax as my model was one of the last before the law change. Love this car for the school run, but would never want to cruise on the motorway, that's not what it's for. I love the turning circle, the handling is great, and I can sleep on the back seat at a pinch. I would say that the only downside is that is doesn't handle speed bumps too well, there are annoying noises as the suspension complains, but I suppose it hasn't failed yet and is 8 years old. One thing I would say is that some dealer parts are ridiculously expensive - you have to shop around for alternative after-market parts.
This was my first car, which I had until recently, fab little thing to drive, yes it wasn't exactly as well equipped as I'd want, but that was perfectly fixable with some £10 accessories from Amazon, although I do wish I had gotten a model with air con!
The car sells pretty well in India as a first car for many owners. Good for learning to drive. You can get this with a 0.8L two pot diesel lol. However its cheap to the core and the structural safety is also questionable.
I have the zxi (o) model All power windows Rear wiper defogger Automatic transmission Good economy almost 25kmpl almost 12miles for a litre Good space for 4 person top speed of 175kmph This is my experience with me cute celerio
Top Gear used celery to measure the interior practicality FIRST but in a Vauxhall station vagon lmao.Good one tho!The ones that remember it are elites!
I drive a celerio. ZXi variant with electronic side mirrors and power shutters with kenwood stereo system. You didn’t say anything about fuel efficiency. It does 19 km per liter
As someone who has this car. I think the review is quite good, however I would definitely say avoid this car. It’s made to such a price that the base model doesn’t even have remote central locking. Good for town driving but not so great everywhere else
Many (most) current Suzukis have weird steering. Just get a front alignment, tell them you want more toe-in so it enters quicker and they'll do it. Slightly more tyre wear and worse gas mileage but steers like a dream.
the CVT model released in the philippines has touchscreen and GPS. the only issue with this car is the center console hits my knees. the previous model has adequate knee space.
I like your reviews but i think u should also cover the safety aspect of the cars as there can be huge variations and is also an important consideration when comparing choices.
You seem to have forgotten to mention engine and gearbox choices entirely. When you were talking about the 5 good things, that was the first time I heard about the 1.0L engine.
The thing I don't like the Celerio Gen 2 which is in the video obviously is the Brake Caliper Pin because it can cause so annoying noise. You thought it is a underchassis problem in the front but it's that damn Caliper pin. I got one actually the top of the line one 2016 model. The one thing I like about it is the Fuel consumption because it's so fuel economical shitbox.
What do you expect for a small car noise from the engine, vibrations? And youre chewing celery to lessen noise from the celerio? If you want sound and comfty rides go check other cars.
it doesnt matter how cheap the interior is, as long as it is reliable and can run a numerous kilometers, and as long as it can be used to take me from point A to point B. having a nice, elegant, and high speed cars is not a must. Specially if you want to live within your means.
How can you slate the engine for speed change on the motorway for overtaking, its a 1 litre car of course you are going to have bad acceleration when overtaking. The engine is one of the best things of that car, its cheap and cheerful and the price represents that.
@@vimalraj6431 I also own one , it is a fantastic little car and I love it. Oh, I also own a Range Rover as well but the Celerio is my daily drive and so far 100% reliable
Had it's predecessor, 2011 Suzuki Alto, in white colour by the way, and I think Alto looked nicer than this Celerio. Interior is another story, especially the dashboard which looks nicer in the Celerio. At the time I thought I could get along with such a small car but during the ownership it became clear that the Alto is too small car for me after all, especially the trunk was a joke. Now I drive 2016 Kia Rio, feels much more like a "real" car :D
Here's how it's marketed in it's native SE Asian market: 1, It's got 4 wheels, which is more than 2 and you got steel around you so in the event of the accident you die with dignity because your body is less exposed to the element so the ER can distinguish you from a rotten deer when they arrive 24 hrs later. 2, It's Japanese, it took them 2 month to conquer SE Asia with bicycles so they must build great cars 3, It comfortably carries 10 people 4, The vents blow cold air SOLD

Have you seen the new Jimny? It looks so cool! www.carwow.co.uk/news/suzuki-jimny-specs-release-date-3737
carwow Awesome, I thought they were going to kill off the Jimny or make it a soft-roader, but apparently not. This is good news.
"It's the cheapest car I've ever reviewed for carwow". And the criticism included in it. How much can you expect from a cheap car?
Typical British attitude.
We're not all like that :-)
And what I mean is, I have one of these cars and I love it :-) (and I'm a Brit)
flatnotze you so right. Sarcastic not even attractive at all. It's a cheap car what do you expect lambo
Suzuki Celery.
O
Mat, please don’t slate a car based on it’s price tag and interior plastics. Not all of us can afford £20k plus cars with soft touch materials. This is an affordable car with a decent amount of space for the price....if it’s not expensive you don’t seem to be interested in reviewing it 😡
Just get a used polo.
its a washing machine
Adam Pritchard a bit too nitpicky for a really cheap car really yeah unless Mat can justify the attitude by telling us a much better option for the same money.
Like the one over the top said. Get a used polo
If your poor you don't buy a new car
I love your car reviews Mat, but I have to ask why does it matter if the car has a plastic dashboard? If it were a leather dashboard over time it would just dry out and start cracking, I’m not sure if that a problem across the pond in the UK, but here in Nevada I’ve dealt with those type of issues when I owned my BMW.
also greenpeace will agree with you! 😂
Mat makes some really entertaining reviews
... not to mention biased too!
don't forget they are NOT reviews. They are adds for Carwow
FyggfLavdi
Lavdi I have to admit that I only watched this video because of Mat (I dont really care about super cheap cars)
Enrertaining but not all that factual.
The main reason I watch your reviews is you. You are fun ,passionate and honest when talking about cars. I love you man -no homo
Seems like a perfectly serviceable first car or a daily runner for a small family. Will last for years and should be cheap to fix.
The Celerio has some impressive MPG scores. On honest Johns real user submitted MPG figures for the 1L dualjet is at 71mpg with a user submission range of 55-82mpg.
Cheap to buy and run.. lots of cup holders, plenty of space, funny review with the celero "munching".. Thumbs up for the cool MAT!
The celerio was named by 2019 What Car? Reliability survey as the most reliable car in its class. It beat cars costing much more.
Why haven't you reviewed a single Subaru ?
Probably because he's not sponsored by Subaru!
Scubies dont sell through Carwow
Well when did Subaru last come out with a new car in the UK?
ShroomWalrus Well the Celerio is hardly a new car either
Fair point. Although the celerio is probably a bit more relevant to the british audience than subaru anyways
I have a 2016 celerio automatic and still so good...
But the price in Pakistan is 😬😬😬😬
Recruit 15 lakhs 😖😖😖😲😲😲
But now it is more raised up to 19 lacs!!!
Honda civic is upto 40 lac
They have those things here to but with the higher spec model. He said it on the video.
Mat can some how make a celerio review entertaining
Clever to use celery as bin space example as it is a Suzuki CELERIo.
This car is also present in Pakistan and having highest mileage in hatchback category. I own this car
I think the new 660cc alto has the highest mileage
@@hussnainsamee2603 New Suzuki’s alto is another category and it have others comparatives in its price range and also in engine capacity
i own the previous model, it's bullet proof.
The 2016 model? How do you find the road noise on the motorway?
I own (still) the 2014 model. The plastic is ugly but guys... the fuel consuming is so low and it never required any extra maintenance. My greatest pleasure came when I used it to buy a sofa at Ikea's and it fitted perfectly in the trunk (and to see the envy in the eyes of the other people freaking out with their very very fancy car with not enough space).
Which 2014 model do you have specific? :-)
That car is a death trap. luck your hindu so you can reincarnate once that car kills you
matt am just happy you have reviewed a cheap affordable car that's applicable for the average commuter
Dammit you should've done a drag race with this
Upul Etipola model s vs celerio!
The grand tour actually did a drag race with this against an old biturbo.
he is not allowed to, it would have beaten various slower models from VW, and VW would not have liked that...
Lambo VS Celerio probably
The Indian version of this car is far better equipped such as power windows and full size spare wheel even with the base model
Gundeep Virdi It's also much cheaper. The USP of this car is that it's one of the cheapest automatics available.
Celerio is a best hatchback car with easy to drive
No, the Ferrari GT4 lusso is the best hatching
@@tharan8069 the Ferrari Lusso is technically a shooting brake
I love this car, perfect for the city
Gotta make the Easter eggs a bit tougher to spot!
eUK95 gcx
This was my first car, which I had until recently, fab little thing to drive, yes it wasn't exactly as well equipped as I'd want, but that was perfectly fixable with some £10 accessories from Amazon, although I do wish I had gotten a model with air con!
I thought the easter egg was the 'long boring bluetooth connectivity'. Something we complain about on another channel :D
Nice bicpeps 💪 Mat.
Great gainz.
WhiteWalkerPepe oooh Mat lovely muscles, please pull me off with your big arms.
WhiteWalkerPepe game of thrones season 8 hype
Typical gamer Just 10 more years waiting :)
The car sells pretty well in India as a first car for many owners. Good for learning to drive. You can get this with a 0.8L two pot diesel lol.
However its cheap to the core and the structural safety is also questionable.
Yes it has scored a nice zero in NCAP.
@@malharpathak4941 only india would allow its people do buy such shit cars
@@abhijaysingh2362 you are shit not all of us can buy 15k plus cars
I have the zxi (o) model
All power windows
Rear wiper defogger
Automatic transmission
Good economy almost 25kmpl almost 12miles for a litre
Good space for 4 person top speed of 175kmph
This is my experience with me cute celerio
Top Gear used celery to measure the interior practicality FIRST but in a Vauxhall station vagon lmao.Good one tho!The ones that remember it are elites!
I own this car for 5 yesrs no issues very good
In India we got the face-lifted version now. One more model is coming, ie, Celerio X a mini cross over car
Your videos keep getting better. Cheers!
They say the steering issue is because of the castor angle... Am not so sure
Celery in the Celerio, wow, who would have thought that? NOT! Still, subbed. Very good reviews.
Many (most) current Suzukis have weird steering. Just get a front alignment, tell them you want more toe-in so it enters quicker and they'll do it. Slightly more tyre wear and worse gas mileage but steers like a dream.
The ones from Splash 1.2 and new Ignis are of excellent quality and quite sharp . The steering of the new petrol Vitara is just decent .
Matt any chance u guys are also reviewing the new skoda karoq? See the press launch was this week in sicily but i prefer to here your opinions
As soon as we can get our hands on one in the UK :)
the CVT model released in the philippines has touchscreen and GPS. the only issue with this car is the center console hits my knees. the previous model has adequate knee space.
You stole the move with the celery from top gear where Jeremy Clarcson tested the Vauxhall Signum 😊
The whole review sounds like he's trying to impersonate either Clarkson or more often Hammond. Oh dear.
Mat has reviewed standard version of Celerio whereas luxury version is having power side mirrors and power windows.
suzuki ignis doesn't have that back wheel protection too. there rocks will dent and in time rust will get very easy.
I am going to buy one of these. They are awesome.
In India we have the Tata Tiago which is of similar price but miles better than Celerio in quality and premium feel comparison!
Given the choice of Japanese vs Indian design I know which I'd prefer.
@@beinnnabhfadhla6457 japanese, right?
I owned a celerio cvt 2016... and it is still good as new
I like your reviews but i think u should also cover the safety aspect of the cars as there can be huge variations and is also an important consideration when comparing choices.
How does it taste? Maybe like celerio
Get it???
I really love how this channel is growing.
You seem to have forgotten to mention engine and gearbox choices entirely. When you were talking about the 5 good things, that was the first time I heard about the 1.0L engine.
I just klicked on this video to see how he would implement the celery in this video.
Its like the Yugo of the modern day-except im sure with much more dependability and reliability.
Your review about the car was most of it about negativity. My question is why do a review at all in the first place, dosent make any sence to me.
Suzuki cheap cars are quite good for driving compared to competitors with similar price
Its quite expensive in uk. In india this car is about 5k pounds. Top end with amt transmission
I am abt to purchase a car. Which among the following is good for city purpose:
1) Tiago
2) Celerio
3) Eon
Celerio

Hi Gundeep, I too own it.. Celerio X

Legend has it that the celery is still in the door pocket.
Now I drive 2016 Kia Rio, feels much more like a "real" car :D
bro checkout Indian version alto, u will be amazed by its design,,,
naveen kumar, I guess the Alto I had is called Maruti A-Star in India.
Mr JSV yeah but India version alto looks uglier than A star
In our country it is about 16000$ for power steering ,ags and powerwindow
Are u from Pakistan?
The only problem is safety. Just tap on body panels, very thin, that is why it is so light.
When you're driving a 97 honda civic hatch and wondering if this would really be an upgrade in any shape or form.
Bro Celerio india on road price base model 5.60 lakh top variant above 6 lakh
Here's how it's marketed in it's native SE Asian market:
1, It's got 4 wheels, which is more than 2 and you got steel around you so in the event of the accident you die with dignity because your body is less exposed to the element so the ER can distinguish you from a rotten deer when they arrive 24 hrs later.
2, It's Japanese, it took them 2 month to conquer SE Asia with bicycles so they must build great cars
3, It comfortably carries 10 people
4, The vents blow cold air
SOLD
Awesome review as usual!
This looks very familiar to Malaysia's car market's Perodua Axia.
Please compare it to the Dacia Sandero
Dacia has French engine and no doubt will be less reliable! More space, but in long run Suzuki is better!
@@itchyscratch6328 I'd rather have more space and power all the time and MAYBE have a problem with reliability.
if you took the high spec model which we have is best .
