Oh no, looks like more transplants coming our way thanks to everyone "sharing" the great things about north Idaho... I'm from Sandpoint, my wife is from CDA, we settled in Athol 12 years ago before the bypass or super 1 etc. Now it's so damn busy anywhere you go were thinking about renting out or house and leaving the area to somewhere i won't disclose up here that is still a hidden gem!!
Athol is horrible!! I don’t know why anybody would want to live here . . . but me! Athol is full! There’s no more space to buy. I absolutely love this place. Nothing but retired California cops and firemen here.😂
As a priest river resident, athol really is horrible .... You're not lying. The whole state is full though. Tourists only, with approval, then they have to go home.
Athol is a cool little town, I was just there in July. For me, Athol is the spot to be over CDA because it'll probably remain safe from all the current expansion, at least for quite a while. Land there is pretty expensive, but Farragut Park is so beautiful, and Lake Pend Orielle is breathtaking, the water is so clear and clean. Athol is also not far from Spirit Lake and Twin Lakes, both are great for kayaking. And Sandpoint isn't too far north of Athol, that's a really cool town as well. I'd love to live in Athol, and I'm actually working on convincing some family to make the move.
You never mention for anyone moving to Idaho not to Kalifornia your Idaho. We spend a lot of time visiting northern Idaho and its attraction is"as is" and some people want to shape it into where they can from. 👍
Hi @Gforce I actually made a video titled Don't California My Idaho - A Discussion On Freedom Of Speech ruclips.net/video/4b9IlI8_vb4/видео.html check it out!
Political parties don't cause degredation... overpopulation does. Just look right across the border to Creston, British Columbia... run by center left New Democrat party... nice and clean and safe, no homeless all over the place.
This is where I want to move to. CDA is nice but I want some land and a home. And be out in the woods. Prescott and Sedona AZ have pushed out everyone, including me. Athol looks so clean small and pretty. That’s what I need and want.
I went to Silverwood a few years ago with my family and we could not believe how cheap the tickets were. Keep in mind for California tickets at Disneyland are $360 a person per day. Do not worry. We are not liberals.
Its not so much on how you vote is why we are not happy about people moving here, its the fact that our beautiful land and trees are getting mowed down for homes that aren't for us! Now we have to compete with your money. Alot of locals are forced into trailers and hotels.
Hi Trent! My husband and I are moving to Naples in 28 days. We watch your videos ALL THE TIME and feel like we have a much better idea of what life in Idaho will be like. We love your honesty, warnings, and affirmations about living in Idaho. We couldn't be more excited!! Could you do a video on Bonners Ferry or Naples? Even though we're already moving to the area, we love all the information you provide about the different communities and cities of Idaho. Thank you!
Lol who wants to move where there is barely any service and the closest Walmart is 45 min away? Also bonner general hospital has horrible reviews and they don't even deliver babies anymore. Idaho is already overpriced, people want properties that are convenient if they are going to spend their life savings on a home.
You forgot to mention the Faragot Naval brig museum….. As far as you getting a dirt bike to ride with your son, take a look at a BMW G/S series motorcycle their made from 310cc to 1250cc and can be ridden on a twisty mountain paved road. I live in Hope. I own a R1200 G/S. I get out on dirt roads and ride the pavement as well. I lived in Lewiston for a little over a year and rode dirt and pavement there as well. It’s the perfect motorcycle to own in North Idaho….
Now that's a little extreme. $700K will get you at least a 1970s singlewide on an acre. You'll probably have to use two gallons of Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer and 5 gallons of Killz to make it habitable.
I've lived here for 25 years. I went to elementary in athol and high school in spirit lake. Athol is a beautiful place but, a lot of people come here wanting to get rid of the drama from cities and the problems they had t place of origin. It's beautiful and peaceful here but, prefer the crime and problems don't follow with the trash that is thrown out on roads and Forrest.
Well I lived near Athol for years, Bayview actually. Beautiful mountains yes, love the scenery and the outdoors, definitely. My family and I left there 12 years ago for safety reasons. We are people of color. And out of the 10 states that I have lived in, in my 50 years of life the panhandle of Idaho was by FAR the worst for people of color. Hopefully it has changed since we lived there. That element of Idaho is disheartening, 2010 wasn’t that long ago. But when we lived there there was a large white supremacist element. Sandpoint, Ponderay, Athol, Spirit Lake, Priest River and Hope could be DANGEROUS for people like me. Imagine how surprised I was to see the park that I would take my lunch break at taken over one day by a supremacist meeting!! Of course they’re allowed to congregate you know! That was in Spirit Lake. Btw there were multiple incidents while we lived there. In the light of day in nice respectable surroundings.
I live in Newman Lake Wa, near the Washington Idaho border. There is definitely racism in Idaho to this day. It's really this whole area of the northwest. The Jewish and Sikh temples in Spokane get vandalized quite a bit. There's also the fact that every single obgyn left the Sandpoint Idaho hospital recently because of laws that Idaho passed.
The element you speak of has moved north to the Canadain border. They got forced out from down there and, while there are some around still it's not as bad as it was. Also, a lot of this racist stuff is propaganda pushed by the feds.
I actually remembered when Athol was kind of horrible years ago in the late 90s. A lot of land with a lot of junk and trash on it. But now that it's been developed, it looks really nice.
Not my hunting grounds anymore. To many people and houses now. The other thing is that most people move in, driving up the cost of property. Then cannot handle the snow and the cold. Jobs are another problem that you need to consider. The commute alone to and from with the streetlights turning what use to be a thirty-minute drive into an hour and it's only going to get worse.
Blair Atholl (two "L's") is an amazing place located at the southern part of the Scottish highlands. It is also home to the Murray Clan at Blair Castle (my clan). They also make some amazing Scotch at the Blair Atholl Distillery! It's worth a trip if you're going to Scotland.
Don't worry, realtors and developers, who would sell out their grandparents for money, will encourage overpriced, overhyped, overpopulated development, look at Couer d'Alene, just a suburb of Spokane. North Idaho is overpopulated with Californians.
My home, my town has been destroyed and made into a city. 35,000 people that we don’t want, came here and now we have traffic all the time, thousands of apartments and hundreds of condos. We aren’t getting good people either… You moved here after 2020 then you are who I’m talking about. 🖕🏼
Sigh! For the long term Idahoans, Athol is now called Northern California. Hell!! As far as that goes anything North of I90 has been so screwed up you can't call it Idaho anymore. Freakin realtors have sold out the locals. I'm leaving.
Great video Trent thank you for being thorough

As a native north Idahoan, I love Athol. Lake Pend Oreille is beautiful.
That barndominium is my place. Took 2 years of living in a camp trailer to afford building it. Cost of housing here has skyrocketed unbelievably!
Athol is horrible!! I don’t know why anybody would want to live here . . . but me! Athol is full! There’s no more space to buy. I absolutely love this place. Nothing but retired California cops and firemen here.😂
That's exactly what a retired CA firefighter told me. He said if I want acreage then that's the place to move
Lmao.. on the beach in Florida feel the same way🌴🌴🌴
I agree there is 2 retired ca cops on my street
As a priest river resident, athol really is horrible .... You're not lying. The whole state is full though. Tourists only, with approval, then they have to go home.
Soon to be a retired NY cop, too! 😃
If youre moving here. Leave your communism behind!
I just moved to orofino and I love it ❤ idaho is the best

I've been to Athol. It was very wild when I went. Off grid living was big there.
Your intro is hilarious: “Hey, athol!”
Awesome community along with Bayview. Bayview tends to be more pricey due to its proximity to the water.
We barely know each other Trent and you are already calling me by my nickname! 😍 LOL

There is an Athol, Massachusetts.
idaho is full, move to Oregon.
Athol is great - if you want a 1960s trailer on a half acre for $700,000
Now that's a little extreme. $700K will get you at least a 1970s singlewide on an acre. You'll probably have to use two gallons of Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer and 5 gallons of Killz to make it habitable.

I live about 3 or 4 miles north of athol up against state land and i do get alot of wildlife i don't have to leave the property to huth deer.
Don't move them out here! We will look like CDA and Post Falls in no time.
I have to admit that I thought ALL of north Idaho was the snow belt. I'm now very curious, "where is outside the snow belt?".

According to Trent in his newest video though "Idaho isn't racist, and technically everywhere is racist." LMAOOO

That comment reminded me. I totally forgot about the junk yard properties. It is a whole lot nicer now.
It’s still that way once you get off the main drag.
Idaho seems to be full, according to my friends. Property is getting pretty spendy due to outsiders moving in.
The name Atholl , comes from a place in Scotland.
i asked siri to get me directions to rathdrum and she routed me to restrooms in the area.

What about horses.
Hi @Sharon Boone I mentioned equestrian facilities at Farragut State Park. What about horses are you referring to?
Is athol conservative or liberal ? About how much is 5 acres and 10 acres, bare land ?
Athol is definitely a conservative place. 5 acres will run between $200k-$400k depending on location and utility.
