    Fast area growth is drying up the aquifers, as well as causing major accidents/fatalities on the local hwy's and roads. Winters can get bitter cold at times, with icy roads to navigate. Downtown Emmett is a bit of a ghost town, with a lot of empty store fronts and run-down looking, due to single out-of-state ownership. Farmland is quickly disappearing, only to be replaced by cookie-cutter subdivisions, traffic and increased crime...still sound appealing!

    Freezeout Hill was named such due to wagons needing to ‘freeze’ their wheels coming into the valley. My relatives related many stories of placing long tree branches through the back wheels of the wagon so it would not rapidly roll down the hill. There is even an old photo in the Historical Society in Emmett of such a practice!

    My sister in law is an American and an ultra conservative. She and her husband are leaving Denver and moving to Idaho. Their neighborhood was destroyed by homeless drug addiction meth heads and overall crime. Colorado once was a golden place. The California people and their communist/socialist attitudes moved in and the place went straight downhill to unlivable and unaffordable. The new voted for property tax just kicked in and regular people just got the new bill with multi hundreds to thousands increase. They love Jesus and 2A and hate Californians. They’ll be a great addition to your state. They can spread the word on what happens if you let them in.

      I hate to break the news to you, but Californians didn't ruin Denver. I've been in Denver since the mid 70's, and it has had a major drug problem dating back to even before that. Colfax Ave. was the drug hangout back then. I love how people hate to admit that the drug problems and lack of enforcement of existing laws is a result of who they put into local office. Denver has had this problem for 50 years.

    What I remember about my drive to Emmett from the Boise area, was a lot of stop lights on the way, on a 45 mph hwy. I was drivng my crane and hate those, just as I get back up to speed, there's another one!

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  6 месяцев назад

      Not sure where you were coming from to get to Emmett? From Eagle to Emmett there is one signal at State and Highway 16 and one signal at 16 and Beacon Light. Then no signals until you get into town. Coming from Highway 55 into Emmett past Sweet, there are no signals, and coming from Weiser area into Emmett, only signals are the few signals in town, and coming from Middleton into Emmett, no stop lights. Maybe you started at Highway 84 and drove across Eagle Road through Meridian and then over to the 16. ..there are a lot of stop lights on Eagle road. But that is quite a ways away from Emmett.

    • @portnuefflyer
      @portnuefflyer 6 месяцев назад

      @@SummerAstonRealEstate It's been too long for me to remember the exact route, but I was coming from Pocatello in my 54,000 pound boom truck, which does zero to 60 in several minutes! The worse case driving scenario for a rig like that is stop lights or signs every mile, which I had for what seemed the last half hour or so. I could very easily have missed a more direct/less hassle route, so take my complaint for what it's worth, not much!

    I was born in Emmett. It is nice if you want some space between neighbors, privacy from other nearby towns, and it is scenic. However, it is still an "up and coming" town that is mostly low income with higher crime rates than nearby towns. It's only slightly more affordable than other cities around, but not as affordable as it used to be. Not much to do in town, lots of empty buildings, the city hasn't really ever thrived but slowly changing. I wouldn't live there.

    Now Emmett is my kind of place! 😻 Just got back from Apple Hill here in Northern California, so the produce in Emmett is very appealing. I'd love to try Emmett cherry pie. I'd love to play some country songs on my guitar in Emmett. Unfortunately, Emmett is a bit far from things we need as aging retirees and for our son to commute to college in the winter. That won't prevent us from driving to Emmett to enjoy what it has to offer if we move to the TV. 👍👍👍

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  Год назад

      Yes, Emmett does have a bit of Apple HIll/Placerville vibes. It's a great place - there are many people who do make the commute over the hill every day, even in the winter..but it'd still be a good 45-50 minute drive to BSU without snow. If you ended up in Middleton or Star, it's pretty easy and doesn't take too long to get to Emmett for any activities you'd want to do there.
