    For info, I used this video before I dropped the front bumper on my '04. If you're removing the bumper just for access to remove the headlight(s), you don't need to remove the under-engine covers or disconnect the fog lights. Do the bare minimum to get access and remove the bumper fixing bolts, then the bumper assembly can be eased forward and even laid on the ground while you do the light units.

    Fantastic. I didn't know about the two bolts hidden under the side panels. Thank you.

      Hi - Glad you found the video useful. When we remove any plastic under body or bumper panels we always replace the standard steel bolts with 6mm Torx head stainless steel replacements coated with copper grease. Makes removal next time a whole lot easier.

      Hi,
      We don't have a rear bumper removal video just now but would expect to have one in future when we have to remove one of ours. Anyway I can share some documents that will help you through the process. The documents are in pdf format and are extracts from the Jaguar Workshop manual and the Jaguar Parts Catalog.
      If your S Type is a 2002 and you have a bumper to fit from a 2004 model make sure first that it is compatible. Some "facelift" changes were made during 2004 so check your VIN against the pdf documents I have shared with you.
      The workshop extract should cover 2002/2004 and the parts catalog extracts will show the differences between the "facelift" and "pre-facelift" variants.
      Note the VIN range shown on each of the parts catalog extracts as this will help you identify which variant you have.
      Hope you find these useful - good luck and thank you for watching.
      Rgds

    I've got a towbar dent approx 12" to the right of the number plate. Is it possible to bring the bumper forward a tad [without taking it completely off] to get a hand in behind to push it out with a little heat applied to the front?

    Got one dropping headlight on my STR, is it possible to remove the top bolts, arch bolts, just to get the bumper to pop forwards enough to access the headlight fixings?
    Done similar on previous vehicles but not an S type

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  3 года назад

      Hi Chris - Our experience shows that all fixings have to be removed before the bumper (owing to its shape and fit) can be moved at all to allow headlamp access. The biggest challenge with this job is actually releasing the 6mm Torx head bolts as the captive nuts will almost certainly be rusted solid. We always replace with Stainless steel bolts.
      Hope this has helped.

    • @jaaagtv

      Hi,
      The side light bulb can be easily accessed when the plastic top cover above the radiator is removed. The side light can be removed by rotating the grey plastic tab anti-clockwise and withdrawing the bulb holder and bulb.
      See attached pictures which show access with plastic cover removed. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад +1

      Hi,
      No problem. Jaguar say remove the front bumper cover and then the headlamp assembly to access the low beam bulb. However it can apparently be done without removing the front bumper.
      Here's how -
      This is an extract from one of the Jaguar forums from someone who has done it.
      RE: HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS, AND TAIL LIGHT BULBS ?
      I changed my hi/lo beam bulbs this a.m. on my 2004 S.
      You do not need to pull the front bumper to do this. Actually, it was rather simple.
      1. Remove the plastic cover across the top, front area above the headlight assemblies.
      2. The first bulb connector you see is the turnsignal lamp assembly; turn it 1/4 turn CCW and pull the bulb/connector assembly out of the way.
      3. There is a plastic dust cover that is approx. 4" dia on the back side of the headlight assembly. Turn this 1/4" CCW and lift off and out of the way.
      Here's the part that gives people trouble. Hint: borrow a small make-up mirror from wife/girlfriend. Slide it down behind the headlight so as to get a good picture of the spring clamp that holds the bulb/connector in place.
      4. The spring clamp is bent over to form a tab of sorts. The two ends are placed in metal tabs to act as a hinge or pivot for the clamp. Using a thumb or index finger, press the top corner of the bent portion forward toward you and down at the same time to disengage the clamp from the catch. It really is that simple.
      Pull the bulb assembly out and pull the bulb from its holder. Replace bulb and reverse the procedure.
      Bepatient, look at the bulb assembly and holding clamp with the mirror before you start and read the instructions above. They will make sense and you DO NOT need to remove the bumper. I replaced both sides in 45 min. It took 35 min for the first bulb and 10 min for the second. And this is the first time I've done this.
      These instructions are for the low beam bulbs as they are the most difficult to replace. The others are self-explanatory.
      Hope this has helped - Good luck

Our new premises is big and hopefully will be installing a four post mobile car lift later in the year when we will be able to produce some more videos. Hi Allan - We're sorry that you found our video lacking in any real information. In light of this I have attached a downloadable extract from the Jaguar workshop manual that covers in detail the bumper cover removal. Hope you find this useful and will now have a better idea of how to perform the process when used in conjunction with our video.
