Best part of the remake outside the game is how you can use sleep mode to take breaks for the pit. Made my experience way more fun going through the entire place
I remember people telling me about TTYD, and not thinking much of it. The remake was my first experience with the game, and now I see what they were talking about. It truly is an amazing game. Great review Nin10doland!
The first two games hold a very special place in my heart. As a kid, I used to print out the characters and cut them out to build battle dioramas. I probably looked up “paper mario papercraft” dozens of times a week.
What do you mean like 4 days ago he made a video about Pikmin. But it has been years since we have gotten a video where someone doesn't criticize Nin10doland.
Amazing video. I have been watching your stuff for a while but this solidified my reason to subscribe. I 100% agree with you saying this was the most important game of your childhood. Thank you
If all the bosses had weaknesses it would just make the game even easier than it already is. I like it this way because you can find your own strategy for fighting them instead of having to use a certain partner because the boss is weak to them.
I just tried the Danger Mario build out of curiosity expecting to go back to normal because the risk was only worth it for super players but turns out it's not risky at all. Danger Mario is just OP. Crushed Bonetail on my first try without coming close to dying. You're next Prince Mush!
Same for me. I was planning for it to be a short-term experiment, but I ended up just using it to mow through the entire game fast af with no deaths (until Mush😢). Bonetail took 3 turns and Mush took 2 once I finally got the superguard down (but I lost 8 straight times before I learned the superguard😭)
@@fakename5308 Nice. Glad to hear that. I beat Mush second try when I put Mario in Peril for the plus 5 and used Power lift and the Power bounce badge.
@@fakename5308 I still ended up with a few Deaths in the Pit due to Close Call failing and not Superguarding in time. Honestly wished that Close Call and Last Stand stacked properly instead of this insane mish-mash they gave us.
This & Paper Mario 64 are the true definition of an classic and Four Horseman of the Mario RPG'S. Along with Super Mario RPG and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle; at least IMO.
I just wish that they had brought back the Spin Move and it's Badges from 64. It made Traversal MUCH more Quicker. At least they could have given us an option to ride Yoshi without him having to be the active Party Member. I also wish that their was a way to get the L Emblem much earlier in the game not to mention a Badge for Mario's Shadow Form that he takes during Chapter 4.
Solid 9/10, Leveldesign is the worst of the Paper Mario Series, but bcs this is a combat focused Game ( unlike Super Paper Mario+ ) it doesnt really mater that much. Story is also solid, nothing outstanding, but for a Mario RPG its pretty good. Characters are also good, even though a lot of Arcs are really rushed imo and most of the characters storys just kind of end at the end of the chapter. I still had a blast with most of the Game and the battle system is just really fun. Not as good as peak Mario and Luigi imo, but still - Great Game, with a lot of Backtracking issues and other problems that get overlooked a lot. Also - I just find it really annoying that so many people hate on Sticker Star+ simply for not being traditional RPGs. These Games are still amazing, they just focus on different things then die Original 2 Games. Idk, most of the Paper Mario Community is just kind of a Wreck imo. Before this Remake came out, most Fans didnt even get to play the game and even less actually played games like Color Splash, which is wildly underrated, but still hate on it because of so many Videos on YT hating on all the Games. Its just really annoying. ( havent watched this one yet tho, it might actually be a solid analysis, this is just some critisicm for the entire community)
Music is a key factor in games. It can change so much with the atmosphere and stuff and the feeling of whats going on. Nintendo is always pretty good in making music for games imo.
Honestly all the little baxk tracking fixes was amazing to get. Dooplis castle. All the worlds with the blue pipes. Hooktail castle. Made the experience even more fun. But they could have and should have fixed the worst part of the game in chapter 2. It was still horrible Seriously. Why do we need to see the shadow sirens. Go to tree. Go to the house. Back to shadows. Back to house then to tree? In that order. It should be "fight shadows. Go to house. Go to tree" instead. A waste of time especially in chapter 2 where it's already pretty long with the little helpers that force you to fight the spiders and waste even more time backtracking
50:00 I had no problems with this. I got all the items I wanted first try and that was that. I guess I just got lucky. I had no idea that you had to line it up perfectly.
The game rivals Super Paper Mario for me (Super is and still is the best game in the series), the ONLY complaint is that you aren't to re-fight all of the bosses, If paper mario the Origami King add the boss rush type mode, then this wouldn't be as big of a complaint.
@@Ebh55. I mean you can just mash the button through dialogue, but you still have to wait for all of it to show up in the text box to skip, which is slow
I’ll be completely honest, I much prefer the remake of this game than the original because I’m not the biggest fan of the original version of thousand year door because there were just so many problems I’ve had with original version, as well as the battle system which I absolutly hate. Yes much more than in sticker star and color splash. Some of the music was good but not all of the music was good. But there were so many problems that got fixed like the backtracking and the battle system for example. I’ve 100%ed the remake of this game since like I said before so many problems have been fixed, and I’ve enjoyed it the whole way through, i’ve also enjoyed the 2 new secret bosses Whacka and Prince Mush. The remixed music was a big improvement for the ost since I’m a sucker for rock and heavy metal music. And of course in my opinion, the Shadow Queen is my favorite villain in the Paper Mario series, love the design, love the fight, and love the music. I’ll say that this remake is much, much, MUCH better than the original version. Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk
Honestly i think that completing the game 100% is boring and feels not rewarding: i think that the magic of ttyd (as well as a lot of other nintendo games) is playing it in a chill way, only caring about what to do to make your playthrough more enjoyable. How in the world can you guess all Zess T recipes without looking on internet?
I don't know, I have faith that Nintendo is gonna want to try to give us what they want. I imagine part of the reason why this game was remade as opposed to being remastered is because Nintendo wanted to get used to making these types of games. It was the same reason why I feel Mario Party Superstars just remade old boards as opposed to making new ones, and the fact that its immediately being followed up with Super Mario Party Jamboree a game that has original boards that look just as good as the old boards, seems to back up this claim. If that's what they are doing with Mario Party, then that's probably what they are also doing with Paper Mario.
@@nintendoboy3605honestly I hope this is the case, almost everyone I’ve seen has praised this game, whereas opinions on Origami King were kinda split (I personally enjoyed it aside from issues like the battle system). Hopefully if Mario and Luigi brothership does well they actually allow both series to coexist as RPGs instead of changing up Paper Mario again
TTYD is on of my least favorite Paper Mario games. Tied with Color Splash, above Sticker Star, and below the original, Super, and Origami King. I think TTYD is ok. I don’t like the story that much. I think the combat is fine. I love partners in battle, but the only ones I care about as characters are Koops and the yoshi. I’d say the first chapter is the best, and the fourth chapter is the worst. This is all my opinion. I know a lot of people love it, but I don’t.
I like all of these games, but TTYD is my least favorite. The main reason is the chapter design. The backtracking sucks, and on top of that, the level design is bland and basic, just being straight lines a majority of the time.
The game is a meddling 5/10. In terms of an rpg its very unbalanced. You either have to go danger mario or item/star power your way through. As the base characters barely make a dent in combat. Low level enemies gives you more of a challenge then bosses. With the few controversies and basic story. Its on the lower end of rpg games. Mostly a game to take up your time because nothing else is out on switch
