I'd love to see the PAL-version covered and the craziness that is its hidden mansion. I grew up with that version and could honestly not believe at first how imo lackluster the hidden mansion in the other versions seemed in comparison from the perspective of a casual run. The new spawns, flipped layout and tweaks to the bossfights really mix things up a lot.
I believe they wanted that kind of Hidden Mansion for all versions, but since it was a Gamecube launch title, they simply didn't have time to implement it in the JP and US versions. JP was the first released, and because of that it has even more bugs than US, such as weird audio glitches. (Some songs can occasionally not play.)
I only just learned they didn’t get the good hidden mansion Oh man that’s so unfair; the flipped layout messed with the sense of direction a lot and found myself getting lost more in hidden than original as a kid; made the extra encounters and boss twists feel like a newer encounter

In the Mario universe, 100g is equivalent to an extra life. At the end of this run, Luigi will outlive all of his friends, family, and enemies by endless millenia. Days will pass for him like seconds. Kingdoms will rise and crumble. Oceans will dry. And eventually, there will be nothing at all... Only Luigi.
I have the theory that the programmers had a mistake when putting the value of red diamonds. I still can't believe one of them has the same value as a coin, considering that there are only 2 in the whole game and one belongs to the final boss.
My best guess is that the developers used a base class for all the treasure items in the game. What this means is that all the treasure in the game inherent, or take their values, from a predefined class with its own values, that can then be modified for each object that is defined using it. The coin is most likely the base class, and has a value of 5000 for the treasure value. Thus, likely when the developers made the red diamond, they forgot to change the value predefined by the coin class, which means it will default to 5000. It’s the most likely oversight as it would be a very easy mistake to make, especially when you have so many other child classes of the coin class (pearls, gems, etc.)
...Oh thank goodness, I assumed 100% meant "collect EVERYTHING there is, and if you boop up a single Portrait Ghost and miss their Large Pearl, instant reset". I guess that would be a Max% run?
That run is called something like max% or max money. And those runs are honestly more interesting to me than the imo poorly named 100% runs. Since you have to get every single money spawn, and can't let any of the coins you drop when taking damage despawn or the run is invalidated.

A small group of top LM runners did look into skipping the plant Gold Diamond RTA just a few months back...and to put it bluntly, we decided to assume you dupe EVERY large pearl. 38 large pearls. And EVEN with this consideration, before even the end of A2, we lose all the time we save from this potential route due to what else you have to go out of the way for. That being said, if we get more consistent with mouse skews, there is definitely some stuff we could get away with on a smaller scale that could save time. It IS possible to skew and skip through the A3 shortcut door right after water rather than even doing the chauncey chest out of bounds route. There is also A LOT of back tracking in this game, especially in A4. Maybe in the future mouse clips could be used to eliminate this backtracking (and it already has been!) In All Boos and All Portraits, which uses the Out of Bounds route from the TAS in RTA (because money isn't needed), we used to use the chest to clip out. Snap being the legend he is decided to perform the any% skew and clip in BOTH records, so he could skip backtracking to the A1 rooms, neville, lydia, and chauncey. Rather, he visits them only once. And in All Portraits, he then does Sitting Room Clip on TOP of that any% skew, possibly the only run done so far using both of these mice tricks. To put it simply, the future of this game for any category that doesn't specify No OoB is abusing 3 to 4 mouse skews a run. It will happen eventually. Snap isn't the only one grinding these mouse skews in runs now. Me, Jovin, HD, even Mak have begun to grind these mouse clips out. Let's see how this and other categories progress!
It's a testament to how much money 20M is that the plant Gold Diamond- which looks obviously and blatantly like "this is something a speedrunner should've figured out how to skip by now"- carries the route so hard. I'd sooner see a glitch that allows you to trick the plant into thinking it's ready to produce the Gold Diamond in fewer visits.
@@phineas81707 The plant doesn't even EXIST when the mansion is in an Area 1 state, and doing the Out of Bounds route the TAS does actually skips bogmire temporarily to abuse a wrong warp, so you end up doing Boolossus first. that reminded me of hearing that the youngest (at the time, her little brother wasn't born yet) of my neighbor's family was really freaking good at temple run.. i forgot how old she was back then since its almost been 2 decades but it hadn't been that long since she was in diapers and i feel like such a boomer saying this but i was young back then so time didnt really fly by the way it does now. im a pathetic lazy loser with no life of any type (work, social, s*x etc.) still living with my mom just playing on my computer 24/7 so to me it feels like time just flies by fast af. months and even entire years just come and go so quickly and its just so weird.. for example a manhwa i read called jungle juice suddenly stopped receiving new chapters with the latest being uploaded august 1st and even after a few months had passed it still didn't feel like it had been that long since they last released a chapter..
Irrelevant to the video, but I honestly feel like 100% really isn't a good name for the speedrun category, since there's very little in the game you actually have to 100% for the run. It really should just be called "A Rank - All Unique Ghosts" since that's all that you actually have to get. I would personally really only call a run 100% if they get A Rank, all gold portraits, all boos, all keys, all possible rooms cleared, and *maybe* all gems.
this is crazy, i can't believe my eyes! youtube is functional???? fucking blowing my mind, not crying about an imaginary ad blocker and making me download every video in 360p from a third party site just for a semi reasonable waiting time to view a single video. then repeating that for every single video i want to watch also the video was nice, i guess. honestly nothing can compare to my excitement over being able to watch youtube normally
Why does this video talk about avoiding collectings gems or money. For a 100% speedrun you have to collect everything. This video seems to be more about an A rank speedrun.
So the speedrun community is a bit different with how it words things. We call an A Rank speedrun "100%", as by definition, the game doesn't give you anything else special upon collecting every bit of money there possibly is. 100% being that there's nothing else to do in the game that will reward you in some way. (i.e. Super Mario Sunshine's "Have a Relaxing Vacation!" upon collecting 120 Shines.) Collecting 100 million grants you an A Rank, which is the most reward you're gonna get for getting everything. Now collecting every bit of money in the game is a speedrun category as well, but we call that "Max%".
Every community defines their own terms. 100% of the money is slow, tedious, and extremely inconsistent and difficult. 100% in terms of achieving all the goals is a better way to look at it.
Dude this video is an assault on people with misophonia. The clock ticking, the trigger slapping sounds with the on screen controller, it's absolutely horrible. It's like you designed it to hurt.
@@Barakalover3 Did i say it was? I highlighted the complaint. They can consider it or accept the potential loss of a portion of their demographic. That's up to them if they care about their fellow neurodivergents, something like 50% of people with autism suffer from it. It also and more importantly serves as a warning to others with the same issue. Regardless of what they do it's worth saying. So what was the point of you saying this again?
I already know about it, my best friend is autistic and has issues with repetitive sounds (or just loud in general). Even so, if people take issue with it, they can just as easily click away and do something else. (These are her words, not mine, but I agree with her.) What did you expect though, given the content of this particular video? These are things you’ll hear on 90% of speedrun streamers, you’re going to hear clicks from the controller, it’s inevitable.
@@Barakalover3 so you're saying I dont warn people and don't try to fix this issue and give up entirely without even trying? Wow, you're REALLY bad at giving advice.
In-bounds skew to early rooms not viable in 100%? Never say never, because that will be proven wrong one day. Whenever someone says _"Oh but this will never be viable for X run"_ you don't know that, and quite often always always proven to be wrong later down the road and does become viable for X run.

Irrelevant to the video, but I honestly feel like 100% really isn't a good name for the speedrun category, since there's very little in the game you actually have to 100% for the run. It really should just be called "A Rank - All Unique Ghosts" since that's all that you actually have to get.
I would personally really only call a run 100% if they get A Rank, all gold portraits, all boos, all keys, all possible rooms cleared, and *maybe* all gems.
its called aha because they are laughing at everyone
max% ... the rng hell ... even harder in pal! is pearl dup baned in max? or do I can not read the rules right?
Guess it is a good thing I don't do this then? I liked the game (at least enough to beat it multiple times), but this just sounds infuriating.
wait a sec... are you Jasper?
Oh my!.... LMAO
luigi house but it mansion
howdy 😋
LunaticJ more like LunaticYay another upload
Please cover PAL
I love EVERY upload of yours. Honestly, I'd love to see a collab with @tomatoanus one day.
When the mystery mayhem music came on I was like YOOOOOO
5 minutes?
this is crazy, i can't believe my eyes! youtube is functional???? fucking blowing my mind, not crying about an imaginary ad blocker and making me download every video in 360p from a third party site just for a semi reasonable waiting time to view a single video. then repeating that for every single video i want to watch
also the video was nice, i guess. honestly nothing can compare to my excitement over being able to watch youtube normally
if this gets 2 likes I'll TAS PAL max%
howdy im fifth
Hi filth
Stretching the screen to fit the HD ratio makes it look like shit
RNG is annoying I experience RNG in gta online so bad RNG should be in online video games
First?
You probably got bullied as a kid huh?
With all due respect , it’s not his job or responsibility to manage somebody else’s issues.
(These are her words, not mine, but I agree with her.)
What did you expect though, given the content of this particular video? These are things you’ll hear on 90% of speedrun streamers, you’re going to hear clicks from the controller, it’s inevitable.
@@Barakalover3 so you're saying I dont warn people and don't try to fix this issue and give up entirely without even trying? Wow, you're REALLY bad at giving advice.
Nah
In-bounds skew to early rooms not viable in 100%? Never say never, because that will be proven wrong one day. Whenever someone says _"Oh but this will never be viable for X run"_ you don't know that, and quite often always always proven to be wrong later down the road and does become viable for X run.
