15 minute Walking Workout for Seniors, Beginners

    This 15-minute indoor walking workout will help improve your cardiovascular health by getting your heart rate up and increasing strength with exercises that work your legs, glutes, core and upper body. This workout is about 1800 steps. Perfect for seniors and beginner exercisers.
    Marching or walking in place is the foundation for the workout. The 30-second rounds will also work on your balance and coordination, which is important to prevent falls, the leading cause of non-fatal and fatal injuries among seniors.

    My doctor said I had to walk 30 minutes daily. I tried walking outside but was exhausted after 10 minutes (I am very , very out of shape). I found these videos and started doing the 5 minute walking workout. I am now on week 3 and doing the 15 minute workout and it's not too bad. Thank you, April and Mom, for making this a lot easier for me.

    I'm actually in my 30's but I have a lot of various chronic illnesses. I do your workouts on days when the exhaustion is really bad and it's the right amount of moving without pushing myself too hard.

      :-) That's the way to do it. I love that you don't let your not so great days keep you from moving. For years I used my chronic foot pain as an excuse to keep me from getting the exercise I needed. Since finding these woman I have lost weight and am now healthier mentally and physically. Keep it up!

    Day 8 of 30-day intermediate workout. An easy 15 minutes today; I was able to speed it up. I'm 80 so I'm planning to do 80 days and then might as well do more. P.S.: Aiko cracks me up with her wisecracks.

    Thank you for pointing out that it's a struggle for a beginner coordinating those arms with the feet. I was trying to remember to keep my ears, shoulders, and hips in line, to keep good posture and form, to keep my abdominals tight, and then the arms too, and breathing, and it's too much at first. I thought it was just me, so I am so glad you mentioned it! The 15 minutes went by so fast. I am doing this one again (and again). Love your momma, and I don't feel bad now trying to figure out which way to move and coordinate the arms too, seeing momma struggle let me know once again, it isn't just me. She finally got it, and so did I!

    Great workout, and I appreciate that you showed the foot work separately so that I could learn it first before adding the arm work. I am new to this type of workout so even the simple foot moves are new to me. Give my sincere respect to your mom. Wish she were mine!

    I started in home walking last week and then got a cold! Today I needed to do some exercise so I did this 15 minute one. I kept up very well and enjoyed it. I love your Mom’s comments. She’s adorable! I will be back!

    I'm 87 and enjoy this 15 minute workout very much. I live in a small country town in Adelaide South Australia and most days am able to exercise outdoors under our verandah where I can breath in the clear early morning air and listen to the magpies warbling to me while I do my workout!

    Hello from Tucson AZ! This is my 3rd year participating in the yes2next exercise programs.
    I love the fact that I can exercise for 15 minutes 10 minutes or a half an hour here in my home. Don’t need any equipment. Don’t need to get in the car. Don’t need to drive anywhere… especially because it’s 108° later this week🌻🔥🌻
    I always laugh at least once each session and love the care, compassion and love shared between the two of you. Thank you for all that you do to help us. I’m 74. You have helped me stay mobile in the last three years.,and set goal of finding a hotdog stand and walked to it😊

    After being so sedentary during and after the pandemic, I didn't "feel" like working out. I will be 68 this summer, and your walking workouts have kept me inspired. I like that you add arms, making it more of a total body workout-more aerobic. Thank-you for doing this. I have graduated to your 20 minute walk and feel so much better. I plan to move to the thirty minute workout soon, and see you even have a 50 minute, which is my goal by May. Great job!! Inspiring!

    I browsed into this video this morning because I was feeling tired but I wanted to do a quick workout. What a joy to find this! My mother passed away just over a year ago and today is her birthday so exercising with you made me feel like I did when I would exercise with my mother before her death (although my mom wasn't always so pleasant). Thank you for sharing this!

    I particularly like this video because I sit too much and have pain on the outside of my hips. The side stepping is something I have to do more of. I am 83 and I introduced your channel to my 89 year old sister and she loves your videos as well.

    Hello just wanted to thank you both. I am 54 years old under 5 feet and need both my knees replacement. I have a desk job and my knees get very stiff. Dr says I need to keep moving.I am beyond words to describe how grateful I am to have found your channel. I have tried other senior workouts and I couldn’t do them. So happy I came across your video. I love that the music you choose is so calming to me and not overbearing.     Did this today for first time…good step up for me from 10 minute walks I’ve been doing. So inspired by Aiko and April is a great instructor. I tend to want to repeat the videos I’m familiar with, but I’m trying to follow your advice to try new ones and keep my brain challenged…thank you so much for this series, the only exercises I’ve ever been inspired by since my youth with Jane Fonda😂

    Greetings from Ottawa, Canada. You ladies and Mochi are just lovely to spend time with and I want to thank you for these videos. I had surgery about 3 years ago and never really regained full strength but I am getting much stronger every day thanks to these wonderful videos. Even though I am a long time walker your strengthening techniques are really what is making the difference (and it's pretty chilly for walking these days anyway!).     When I opened my iPad to start my morning workout, your new cardio workout showed up front and center. So of course had to try it! Thank you 😊. Another wonderful workout. Love how you integrate upper body moves with your walking workouts. Both upper and lower body exercises at the same time.

    3/25/24: I’ve been following April and Aiko for 3 months now, and I have lost weight and my legs and arms are stronger. For beginners, don’t stress if it is hard to get the moves down right away. Your muscles have “muscle memory,” so when you practice, it becomes easier to coordinate the arm and leg movements. I was surprised at how much I was challenged at first. Just “keep moving” like April says, and you will improve. Thanks April and Aiko, I love your channel!

    I love you two ladies, are awesome. I started watching you instead of giving something up for lent. I decided to add 30 minutes a day of exercise. I am 73 years old. I get around good but get very little exercise. Your videos are awesome but when I watch you on my TV. I can’t like or comment for some reason so I go to my iPad and like and subscribe.

    I am 68 about to turn 69 and finally fully retired - great timing for discovering your series. They are perfect for me as this year I chose the word “intentional” as my theme for 2024.
    It’s lovely to have some 10-minute options and then longer increments. Some days 10 minutes is all I can face doing LOL. Those are the days when I know we will have a good half hour walk - a nice, ice-free walk. And other days 15 minutes is perfect. Often I will jog in place rather than walk - it’s an easy step up for cardio and steps.
    Your pace is lovely and I appreciate your reminders to breathe! Haha! It’s odd how when you do I realize I need a good, deep breath! I enjoy the mama/daughter banter too. You guys are wonderful. Thank you so much for making it easier for me to integrate purposeful movement into my days❤️

    Hi April. Thank you for this nice short, easy workout. This viral infection that I have doesn't seem to want leave, and I truly don't want to sit around all day. This was just what I needed, hoping that tomorrow I'll be able to do more. For now it's lots of fruit and veggies to try and get rid of this.
