And I do recommend doing the fluid ASAP, even at 30k miles. I heard bmw used the wrong fluid for the 19' and 20s'. Mite as well get ahead of it 🙏

I would recommend a voltage stabilizer and not a battery charger. Voltage stabilizers can feed over 20 amps at 14 volts, whereas battery chargers provide a lot less amps.

I just bought the software and followed these steps, but ran into an issue! I go to open the software and it says “failed to start ISTA. Please make sure your ISTA configuration is valid. In doubt, reset any non standard ISTA configuration and reinstall ISTA” should I just try to reinstall or how would I correct this?

After purchasing and installing the program according to the instructions, I receive the following message when starting the program
The database installed is not complete. A repair installation must be carried out.
ISTA cannot be used without complete databases. The application will therefore be terminated

I'm not 100% sure what the issue is, I would reach out to the company providing the program and see if they have any insight. Did you install exactly how i did? I know there some portion that some computers will block and you need to allow it to be downloaded. Maybe that's your issue.

Yes, I installed it according to the instructions, the computer has enough power, nothing was blocked, the installation went well. The company has not yet responded to the email, I wrote to them 2 times. If I figure out the problem, I'll let you know.

I don't think it's overblown. I think people worry too much when the fix is decently easy. It will be over blown if they don't do the maintenance and end up having to replace it

all of the video is fine, but missing the most critical part: setting the COM port in the PC (the ISTA part is easy). The ethernet has to connect to COM1 and my laptop did not automatically "see" the ethernet connection - which under the IPV4 properties MUST BE SET to 169.254.1.1 and subnet mask of 255.255.0.0; so I have tried to create a "soft" COM1 part, but I still cannot complete identification on the Operations tab w/o getting the check cable or PAD error message. Ideas? Thanks!

@@rcruzthomas In this very last release before BMW put in encrypted keys that no one but an authorized dealer had access to; they changed the software to the point where it would NOT work with all the flavors of Windows 10 - which is all that I could put on my Panasonic Toughbook C54 - which has only USB 2.0 or ethernet. Yes, I finally got it working but only with trial and error. At BMW dealerships/authorized, they have to but special dedicated BMW equipment to hook up to the BMW LAN/WAN. OTOH, some clever companies have hacked these machines and come out with there own $3K to $5K equipment - but I'm not convinced those are worth it for we private citizens. BMW has so many weird quirks anyway. For example, my front strut started to leak air AND THAT CAUSED the vehicle lock sensors to go crazy! Who knew? The same with the grill vent actuation motors. Yes, you can sometimes buy the actuators, but they will always fail. Why? Because BMW calibrates them ONLY within the grill assembly (I have two active air grills in the front) and the opening torque is a fraction of a Newton. The ISTA software cannot calibrate them. There is no hardware or tool to do it either. One has to spend $300 to $700 for each COMPLETE grill assembly rather than the $50 for just an actuator. But BMW will, as usual, tell you nothing but happy to sell the parts and blame the failure on YOU.
