Any particular brand of PC and its configurations that you would suggest; in addition where I can acquire INSTA+ software to support BMW G30. Also any cables (i.e. ICOM, ethenet cable, etc.) required? Your comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have an 07 Bmw 750 Li E66 series. Having difficulty getting ISTA + to connect to DME. Sent the computer off to be tested and it tested good. Also can ISTA + do an EWS configuration and how? Car cranks but won't start. Replaced fuel pump as it was bad. Just can't get ISTA+ to communicate with DME/CAS/Key fob to reset generated code that I believe got out of synch. Any help is appreciated thanks. Good intro video btw.
Quick question for a beginner to ISTA, to use on an F15, do I need to use only an Ethernet cable? I am not seeing the diagnostic fault tree, so is it the cable issue on my ISTA the problem? Thanks, excellent overview, so very much appreciated.
For F series use the ethernet cable for everything including coding and programming. I think in your case you have a connection issue. Check ista spanner settings to make sure you have selected the right cable. Best of luck🤝🏻
At least in my Ista version you need to enable the enet cable support in a config file. It's safed where the istagui.exe is safed some line where you need to change false to true
Hey did I hear you correct. You had a fire on the ECU? If I did that is why I am here learing ISTA. I had an overcharge battery situation on my 2006 X5. Car ran great as I just got it. The overcharging was enough to burn hood insulation. After the event I checked ever fuse including next the the ECU box. All good but the car starts and runs normal for ten seconds then drops into transmission limp mode with 4x4, ABS brake warning lights. My OBD port suddenly will not establish connection with my scanner. I have other x5 and I confirmed the scanner is good. Does it sound like the ecu/dme is the problem. I see I can send it out with the cas and key to ECU company that can test it/repair it. Your thoughts. Thanks

Does Ista+ need internet connection to work properly ? I’ve used this before but it’s been so long i can’t remember. I’m establishing connection with the DCAN cable but when i click “Complete Identification” i’m getting an error saying my VIN cannot be identified. Then i get the “Not establishing BMW backend server connection”. I have an E90 328i i’m using this on. I’ve had it connected before and working
@@KyleGladden-b7y No need for internet. Make sure your comport settings are correct. If you use the laptop for other things than solely for diagnostics it will mess up the settings and it will not connect. Can't help any more than that I am afraid
I have already checked the comport settings and even the Ediabas settings 😭 seems like my next option may need to be a complete reinstall of the software. The laptop doesn’t get used for anything else, so it’s weird that it’s not working now. Thank you for the info though

i keep getting 138803 Active cooling air flap (AKKS) top: upper stop not recognized. It seems like there is nothing wrong with my upper and lower flaps but i am not really sure. Is there a way to have dme ignore these flaps temporarilly?

hello i have a 2005 bmw x5 e53 3.0 L engine. i got the vehicle scanned and the dme seems to be the problem. I got a code equivalent to P0302 which says it is misfiring. There are new ignition coils and spark plugs. the wiring to the ignition coil is good. Moreover, the vehicle was involved in an accident as ran overboard and i believe water may have entered the dme. Also i bought a donor dme and was trying to code it with inpa to the vehicle, is possible to code a used dme? If not i can replace the entire system with a ecu, immobiliser and key?
I think you may need to program it rather than code it. You will need possibly NCS Expert program or another alternative. If you have no success yourself contact Samir. His number is in the description. If he is not available then try someone local. Best of luck🔩🔧🤝
Hi and thanks for your nice message. Yes you can usd dcan cable but only for diagnostics. The yellow enet can be used for everything. If I were you I would buy a yellow enet cable as they are £7 on ebay then you can do your coding and programming🤝🏻

I have problem ista+ communicating with all the modules. Even 3 dealerships are not able to communicate with all modules. Any thoughts on what could be causing the failure to communicate? I can send you screenshots of the vehicle test results if that helps.
Hi buddy Avoid going to dealerships as they charge a lot and are rarely helpful with stuff like that. Find a local specialist who can test the canbus and the modules in question with an oscilloscope then take it from there. Hope you get it sorted and do let us know how you got on when you have it fixed🤞🤝
I think you need to connect to the vehicle at least 1 time prior to choose by VIN(at least for 7 digit). I am getting VIN is invalid or has not been assigned. I'm waiting on my cable and wanted to see if I could find a bit easier to understand manuals but no luck yet. If I still get that error after getting my cable I'll update.
I haven't been able to find one as BMW use this software in their dealerships so they don't want to share any info with people like me and you. If you find anything let me know and I will post it for everyone intrested

I am not 100% sure as there are different versions of ista. Normally if you try to create a test plan it will give you detailed explanation and troubleshooting. Glad you like the video

I have used vag com in the past myself but find the BMW software much better. If you can't find it elsewhere contact the guy I have linked in the description. Quick question. I did my E38 following your video and the "Window" to switch off ignition and remove key never disappeared. I had to manually cancel it. Have you encountered this before ? Thanks
Hi Did you follow exactly as shown in the video? Delete faults/switch off ignition/wait for 10sec then it will disappear and you switch on then scan again to see the remaining faults

Unfortunately it was never created as I planned on doing part 2 on F series but the car wasn't available. I have a friend who has a few F series so will need to get a hold of one to do the 2nd part

Hi Nick, contact Samir for more info on as I work on the older E models. I use Dcan cable for my cars but you may need fiberoptic for your car. His details are in the video description
I am glad you like it buddy. At this point when scanning for faults and deleting faults you just need to turn the key to the second position and there is no need to stsrt the engine. In the next videos we will run the engine to see how is performing and to see the live data. Hope this helps🤝

There are many variations of the dcan cable. I am not an expert but you will have to select ediabas dcan in settings and try with switch on left. Make sure your comport is correct and you shoould be able to connect

Hi, you can clear faults in separate modules. When you finish the scan and see all modules in the module tree click on the desired module with left button and after that select call ecu function. After that you see one popup window where you can selec Activation and then clear fault codes. Hope this helps
Would be improbable to expect an answer after the video's been online for a year - great video - but you literally don't show the connection process to the car. You don't show the car interface selection in ISTA or what other settings you use for the laptop to actually "talk" to the car (eg, brand is BMW/MINI or BMW PKW?). Have a 2012 530xD F11 and can't get the ISTA to connect, tried most settings and two cables today - one silver saying "K-DCAN INPA Compatible" on the OBD plug - and one black, a VCDS clone (the latter one was kinda last ditch effort). ISTA just doesn't locate the car - no car connected. Do I have to have the ENET LAN cable with an F11? Do I have to use an older Win7 laptop (the one I used today was freshly installed Win10 just for this purpose). An answer would be appreciated, greetings from Latvia.
For F series you need the yellow Enet cable. You can use Dcan cable as well but only for diagnostics. Get the enet cable and after successful ista+ installation make sure you have selected the correct interface cable in the ista settings. It is very easy, don't get frustrated just need more patience. We have all learnt this way from the internet as very few people want to share.🤝

Inpa is the oldest program, Ista D is the 1st version of Ista and Ista+ is the latest and has all information in 1 place. Ista+ is the best of all but I find myself using inpa as well for certail functions like engine smooth running and wheel speed sensor test. If you are a BMW owner and you have a newer series like F/G Ista+ is all you need

Can you diagnose F/G series wit Dcan cable or you must swich to E cable
Dcan can only be used for diagnostics on F/G series. Enet can do everything on F/G series
...I dont need programing module,but just for diagnose,live data,test.....

Any ista will work with your car. Try ebay and see what they sell. You should be able to get an up to date version

As far as I know some Ista versions don't support the last 7 digit vin search. Let me know how you get on🤝

Very helpful tutorial. I noticed that on my 2005 E46, I cannot get any detailed description of the codes, is this normal?

Could you possibley explain why ISTA+ v 4.32.15 will connect to an E84 but give a license error when trying to connect to an E38?

These programs are cracked versions from the original BMW software so there will be always some issues.

I am glad you like it buddy. At this point when scanning for faults and deleting faults you just need to turn the key to the second position and there is no need to stsrt the engine. In the next videos we will run the engine to see how is performing and to see the live data. Hope this helps🤝

@@mrz5705 20 pin connector is only for old cars like E34, E36, E38 and E39. BMW cars up to 2001

Hi, I am not technical support nor an expert but to me this sounds like a driver issue or may be you need to adjust your usb port settings. Please seek help from where you got your ISTA or try and contact Samir (the guy I partnered with) I left his website and contact info. He might be able to help you for a fee. Hope this helps

Hi, sorry I can't give you any advice on the hardware. It sounds like you may need to upgrade or change your laptop as you don't have much memory
Make sure you have at least 500 GB After installation, the size is about 370 GB
My d can cable has black switch with 4 modes, my ista+ has 6 options to make connections like ediabas Icom etc i dont even know what to choose and why
There are many variations of the dcan cable. I am not an expert but you will have to select ediabas dcan in settings and try with switch on left. Make sure your comport is correct and you shoould be able to connect

How can I clear certain selected faults instead of clearing everything? What is the steps?
Hi, you can clear faults in separate modules. When you finish the scan and see all modules in the module tree click on the desired module with left button and after that select call ecu function. After that you see one popup window where you can selec Activation and then clear fault codes. Hope this helps

Would be improbable to expect an answer after the video's been online for a year - great video - but you literally don't show the connection process to the car. You don't show the car interface selection in ISTA or what other settings you use for the laptop to actually "talk" to the car (eg, brand is BMW/MINI or BMW PKW?). Have a 2012 530xD F11 and can't get the ISTA to connect, tried most settings and two cables today - one silver saying "K-DCAN INPA Compatible" on the OBD plug - and one black, a VCDS clone (the latter one was kinda last ditch effort). ISTA just doesn't locate the car - no car connected. Do I have to have the ENET LAN cable with an F11? Do I have to use an older Win7 laptop (the one I used today was freshly installed Win10 just for this purpose). An answer would be appreciated, greetings from Latvia.
For F series you need the yellow Enet cable. You can use Dcan cable as well but only for diagnostics. Get the enet cable and after successful ista+ installation make sure you have selected the correct interface cable in the ista settings. It is very easy, don't get frustrated just need more patience. We have all learnt this way from the internet as very few people want to share.🤝
Why is my control unit tree, control unit list, and operations report grayed out?
Could be a driver issue, or may be your pc changed the usb com port connection. Try changing the com port in thw settings to com port 1.

Inpa is the oldest program, Ista D is the 1st version of Ista and Ista+ is the latest and has all information in 1 place. Ista+ is the best of all but I find myself using inpa as well for certail functions like engine smooth running and wheel speed sensor test. If you are a BMW owner and you have a newer series like F/G Ista+ is all you need
