And I must add that Village is a great game. I wasn't a fan of RE7, but Village tried to fix some of its issues, they even gave Ethan some personality. My biggest problem with it is that there are too many antagonists, all of them have interesting back stories, however with each we don't spend much time with, the exact same is true for RE4. Plus the Chris section, though short still feels like just a shooting gallery
How was she cut into 4 pieces though is what I wanna know. Was it hotdog or hamburger style because there's only 4 flasks and one of them is the head so the whole body fits in 3 but how are the parts split up? Does someone get both legs or one leg and one arm? I need to know.
@@Nathan-Croftokay but how else were you going to have a game that’s not unreasonably long and at the same time enjoyable enough to replay? Besides all their backstories are pretty much summed up in the files.

Why did people decie that Dimitrescu is pronounced as Di-Mi-Tresc? I speak Romanian, it's literally Di-Mi-Tres-Ku and it's an actual (kinda common) family name in Romania
I believe Capcom said it was pronounced "Deemitriske" or something. The original recording I said "Di-mitres-kue" but I settled for the one in the video as it's what most people say hahah.
@JoshuaTXI Damn, Capcom themselves spread it? Jeeez... I mean, talk about low effort on their part, million dollar company and nobody got time for a Google search? Eh, but whatever, I recently finished the RE4 remake and I can't be mad at them
But its origins are also greek and therefore both pronouciations are right. "Dimitrescu is a Romanian surname, meaning 'descendant of Dumitru'. blood diseases can cause problems during pregnancy and childbirth, lady dimitrescu's blood disease could've had caused some problems when she was trying to have children. that could explain why lady dimitrescu was willing to go all the way back to the village to try Miranda's treatment and it does make sense why she loved her three adopted daughters so much. lady dimitrescu's backstory is the saddest when there's a possibility of bela and Cassandra and Daniela were names if she had a daughter.

Hey, I just want to say RE8 technically is still a horror game. It ain't just house Beneviento, it's also the beginning when Ethan gets to the village too. It's dark, and there's even a couple of jumpscares.
@@Spectrum0122 That's actually a good call. Having to go back down to level 1 in the dark was terrifying, especially when that one huge robot comes outta nowhere LOL
I'm glad they didn't overdo jumpscares lime 7 did. And as far as natural fear, no other enemies in any game scare me more in gameplay than the Lycans getting in my face. Also, the giant Lycan (Urius?) is pure nightmare content.
The game really parallels RE4 story way too much. A person found a BOW in European village, built a cult to experiment on it until American comes in to save a female and ruins everything... sounds familar, aint it?
re7 and 8 did a great job of telling ethan story and more specifically humanity and its familial bonds. I really enjoyed that all characters fit into a familial archetype like dimetrescu is the narcissistic mother, but it did this at the unnecessary cost of chris's character. re1, 5, and 6 are some of my favorite games of all time becuase they tell the story of chris and him being the perfect soldier, but a flawed leader. 1 showed us that chris was more than a normal soldier. 5 showed us that chris didnt know how to cooperate with anyone and the game was his journey to of learning to work with a partner (too bad they abandoned sheva she really complimented his character and honestly could have permanently replaced jill so that she could have her own storyline like in re3). 6 showed us that even though chris could work well with a partner he couldnt coordinate a team well and his men kept dying because of his absolutism about "no man left behind" this comes to a head when piers dies for chris at the end of the game. in re7 and 8 chris just feels like an invulnerable superhuman that does everything and ethan was completely pointless because chris could have just done it alone. it doesnt even make sense in the eighth game for chris to take ethan from his home he should have just killed mother miranda alone as we know he could have. why didnt chris just explain at the start after shooting mother miranda what was going on? why didnt chris and come sooner to help ethan? perhaps I am forgetting a key part of the story as it has been a long time, but I feel robbed of "muh boulder puncher"
I actually felt this too! It felt like Capcom didn't really know how to fit Chris into the new direction they were going, he just became a "familiar face" to drive hype, I feel. He definitely could have spared 15 seconds to say "Hey Ethan, we're killing this doppleganger because the real Mia got kidnapped." Though, Chris did say he felt he didn't want to tell Ethan because "civilians getting involved makes the job harder." Had the opposite effect for Winters, though! I do think if Ethan was told Mia was alive it would have stopped him from trying to SURVIVE the village though, as the whole point is that he believes Rose will grow up an orphan if he doesn't stay alive for her. Definitely just a plot thing hahaha.
Great analysis video and I love the connections between re7 and re8 😊 and I think when ethan says keep rose safe he was taking to mia and a part of him was relieved that rose wouldn't be alone she has mia to watch over her.
Moreau is the black sheep in the family - the one that nobody cares for or wants to admit connection to, but desperately wants their approval. (Que Disney music: "We don't talk about Moreau, no no no! We don't talk about Moreau!"
Saying that Ethan killing the lords, and Miranda is freeing them from their suffering Literally, just reminds me of Final Fantasy 10 with lady yunalesca who says she will kill the entire party to free them from their hopelessness and despair before they even fall to it. Definitely horror. I never knew why some people say otherwise. I mean it's gothic horror for starters. I can think of at least one genuine scare for every section throughout the game. No amount of action can negate how dark the subject matter is. The factory receives mixed views, but I find some truly underrated disturbing moments theree. Also, with Moreau being inspired by sea creature/body horror, it's a really unnerving design.
I own RE7 And RE Village on my PS4 pro proudly.. This review was spot on.. Especially with the Lucas/ Heisenberg mirroring and others as well . I would say the only difference is , is that Miranda doesn't care about any of them.. Jack , Marguerite, Zoe , Joe, and even Lucas truly care for each other..❤ Jack even forgave Evelyn, he told Ethan " She just wants a family"...
Yep! The theory I had for that was Moreau is a depiction of a Zoe who gave in to Eveline's control, wanting to be with her family again. At one point in the script, I had Zoe as Heisenberg as both are rebels, but that didn't track as well because Heisenberg is an inventor like Lucas. There's probably more similarities between Moreau and Zoe hidden in lore, though from my research the idea of Moreau being a more broken version of her fit the best!

I 100% agree RE8 is a horror game haha, I believe the reason I said what I did was because after Moreau's section, as you stated, it's not so scary, meaning it would be difficult to analyze it just for it's horror aspect! I also agree with what you stated, I personally love the Winters trilogy (7, 8, Shadows of Rose) and it's my personal favourite Resident Evil arc yet! I was very sad Ethan and the Winters would never return to a mainline game again, they were quite likeable in my opinion! Rose could definitely head a game if given a shot! I still love 7 more but I do really love 8 after I did this deep dive!
