The original Star Fox isn't as revered as 64, for understandable reasons, but the context behind moments like the Black Hole and Out of this Dimension are a little dark, and have always stuck with me. 64 has it's moments, but the SNES entry always hit me a little harder, in that regard. Staring endlessly at "The End" after beating the Slot Machine honestly gave me goosebumps as a kid. Star Fox '93 is like a dark, surreal comic book that went on to get a successful Hollywood film adaptation. The game really deserves more love than it gets.
You can actually see that dark tone in the comics too. I haven't read all of them but the fact that Fox's mom perished in that way talks about how dark Star Fox was. I wish They had included things like that in Star Fox 64, and you still see me shooting at random indestructible asteroid in the asteroid field, hoping to find a secret nobody else has, but I'm sure if there was something there, somebody else would have already found out.
I really appreciate your comment! Star Fox deserves a lot of recognition. It was a big part of my childhood, and I hope it doesn't go through the same as the F-Zero franchise (which I also love). I hope you like my next videos. Greetings!
I appreciate you doing the same for Fossil Fighters. Have other obscure games gotten the same treatment like The Mysterious Murasame Castle, Nintendo Land, Wii Fit, ARMS, or Kid Icarus?
I forget how much I love the StarFox series. SF64 was one of my favorite games as a child, so learning about all this background StarFox stuff is so cool.
I do want to comment on the "Amputated legs" thing. That rumour persisted for ages, and honestly, there are a lot of people who still cling to it to this day. A popular fan animation, "A Fox In Space", poked fun at this by having Wolf O'Donnel ask to see a captive Fox McCloud's legs, drawing exasperation from Fox who eventually relented, and showed that no, he does not in fact have robotic legs. Later art more clearly moved away from the aesthetic that caused the confusion, more clearly showing the characters wearing boots, rather than having metallic-looking legs.
I guess the rumors spread so widely that Nintendo decided to show that the pilots of the Star Fox universe did have their legs intact, but it's understandable that people believed they had them amputated with that early artwork. Greetings!
Fun fact: Andross actually created Sector Y, it's stated he created a Bolse prototype near Corneria to keep an eye on the planet but it horribly imploded and created the sector Other fun facts: -Cornerian academies thought it was impossible for Solar to have life so Andross out of spite created the Vulcain -Bacoon is an ancient creature which extinguished the Aquan civilization long ago because he felt envy towards them. Andross's pollution gave him that look we all know -Both Titania and Venom have signals of civilization living on those planets, but disappeared because the planets became more unstable -A project to restore Zoness's waters was initiated but halted due to the Aparoid invasion -After experimenting on himself a lot Andross mutated into a giant brain and encased it inside a recreation of his head with eyes included (this applies to the 64 and Zero continuity, in the original one he simply transfers his mind into a computer and then into a cube)
Oh this is exactly what I needed to see in my subscription feed. Star Fox 64 is the best N64 game to replay into infinitem. Getting medals on every level on master difficulty is a good feeling, albeit the high has long since worn off a long time ago, probably around the time when buying this game via virtual console and using the GameCube controller joystick just wasn't up to standards for controlling the Arwing
When I was playing to get footage for this video, it was pretty hard to stop after I had already got the exact videoclips I needed. Thanks for watching! Greetings!
Regarding the finished build of Star Fox 2 being included on the SNES mini retro console, the people designing the mini console and picking the games for it reportedly had to fight tooth and nail with a certain Nintendo oldhead who happened to be the reason why it didn’t come out originally due to him stealing ideas from it for the N64 release, so Shiggy Miyamoto can rightly get stuffed for that, just saying.
Another fun fact: An Arwing model is used in testing the behaviors of flying enemies in Zelda Oot. These models can be revived using emulation or a gameshark.
A long time ago, I was playing the Katina level. I managed to get alternative dialog when I got a Mission Accomplished. I got "You owe me one" instead of the usual dialog of "You too, Bill." I think I got it to trigger by not shooting down any friendly craft and/or not having any friendly craft shot down.
This is true, but it's very diffcult to pull off unless you choose to focus on shooting down Saucerer and not any other craft because it's very easy to accidentally destroy the crafts of the Bull Dog unit. Greetings!
@TheEisenBergExperience It was very difficult. You essentially have to be very accurate and can't use smart bombs. The thing is that late 90s, no internet kid me had no idea about that. I was just doing a personal challenge, so hearing that blew my mind. Got the medal, too.
There was actually an 8-bit game by Arioliasoft called "Starfox" on the 8-bit home computers in the 1980s - Nintendo likely avoided the name in Europe because of that game.
I think SFA gets way worse of a wrap than it deserves, simply because it was completely different from it's predecessors in terms of gameplay. It's an absolutely GORGEOUS game even by today's standards - the fur effects, environments, and facial animations were unbelievable for the time. The atmosphere and soundtrack are also as memorable as you'd expect from any Rareware game of that era. I will ride for SFA until my last breath fr.
I haven't had the chance to play SFA, but I've been watching reviews and the game actually looks very good. I wish I had bought that instead of Star Fox Adventures, not because it's a bad game, but because when I saw Star Fox, I wanted to be able to play Star Fox the way I remembered it. Greetings!
from what ive seen assault is strating to get the attention it deserves. the game that has the far worse and undeserved rap is 1000% zero. it was always peak
5:48 So Wolf´s Voice Actor didn´t return for Ubisoft, but actually did return for a Game Mod (Star Fox: Event Horizon)? Btw. please play this Mod. It´s the best we´ve got (well, aside from the recent SF64 Decompilation), since the Series seems pretty much abandoned at this point.
About the metal legs - I believed this theory for a long time and can't remember exactly why. In the opening of Corneria (SF64) Fox excplicitly tells everyone to check their "G-Diffuser systems" which is probably a gravity diffusor so they can pull off maneuvers at speed without feeling the effects. Later in the level Falco complains that his "G-Diffuser" is malfunctioning and he flies like crap during that time. My understanding of the metal legs theory is that it was legit for a time until someone told Shigeru "Hey you know telling kids that their heroes chopped off their legs probably isn't a good idea." at which point it got retconned to "cool pants/boots"
Although it's been well known, I considered putting it at the bottom due to its implications plus the not that well-known fact that a pilot in the past ended up in that dimension. Greetings!
@TheEisenBergExperience I'm actually in the process of writing a fanfiction about it, an adaptation of its story, after reading ones written by other authors.
Never heard of the running boss on venom putting down an infinite wall. Because as a kid I would let it live so it could create an endurance course for me, it never timed out with an infinite wall.
This actually takes a long time and the longer you take, the harder it takes to avoid the obstacles, so it's easier to die before you encounter this wall. Give it a try. Greetings!
You missed one (although it’s *very* obscure) - there’s actually two different versions of _StarWing_ (at least in English); the only difference I know of is in the training mode, where one version is far easier because it lacks the “remain in formation” challenge.
General Scales was also a bait and switch villain defeated in an anticlimax, in Dinosaur Planet. The big bad didn't turn out to be Andross, but. This video doesn't cover the Dinosaur Planet stuff very well. In fact, it does bias towards Lylatwars as the game to cover. Fair enough i suppose. I think instead of praising Nintendo for Star Fox 2, fans like FuSoYa who patched up a leaked rom that was the only way to play the game for 20 years deserve credit. "Do A Barrel Roll" got popular in 2017?!?! Are you Sure? Its like if I said This Is Sparta got huge in 2018 and All Your Base was the hot new meme in 2023.
I mean, Star Fox 64 (I refuse to call it by the other name) is the most popular of the games by far. It makes sense. Also, you are right with Star Fox 2, however it was still very suprising for Nintendo to do that at all, considering how little they care about perserving things.
I would love to talk about Conker's Bad Fur Day at some points I don't think there enough info for an iceberg, but at least I would love to talk about it. Greetings!
@ Pokémon colosseum was my first and fave game! I don’t play Pokémon anymore but I recently played the whole game again!! It’s nostalgic. Can’t wait to see your video
star fox fandom: be like we want more games 'gets a assault, a well made game that takes the series in a new and fresh direction with the best all range in the series rejects it for not being like the beloved 64 nintendo: ok heres a new game that does the same shit as 64 gets zero' arguably peak star fox that outdoes 64 in combat, skill depth, score system, replayability, levels, dog fights, and pathing etc rejects it for being like 64 again and being unable to handle motion controls (god forbid) nintendo: WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US?!
Shame that Assault had virtually no replayability. Most, if not all, unlockables were multiplayer items. I had fun with Zero, but man, did it have some outright infuriating moments. I had no problem with the motion controls and I can deal with having to multitask, but limiting the player to just 3 max lives when 64 had 9 nine max felt like artificial handicapping of the player on top of already difficult gameplay. Also, having the side grade Arwings (the berserker black and retro Arwings) be locked to Amiibos felt like a slap to the face. Zero was more replayable than Assault, but it was also more niche. Starlink: Battle for Atlas did the formula better.
@lmno567 I'll give you the lack of replayability on assault and the amiibo content on zero. But tbh. Zero never really had any infuriating moments. 1 has more infuriating moments imo.
@Z-Mikes00 Zero certainly felt it had some difficulty spikes made worse by its 3 lives max. 1 was consistently difficult. 64 was balanced just right; even its hard mode felt balanced, and you had to work to get to that mode and learn the mechanics along the way. Zero was more "get gud."
@@lmno567 the 3 lives is fine imo cause they only force u to restart the level unlike 64 og. as some one who has gotten all gold metals on zero the only parts that give me shit are the fortuna boss and peppy's level. the hardest golds for me were return to corneria, peppy's level. the first satellite mission, and sector omega not hitless. the only games imo that had any noticeable spikes were 1 and assault. when i first played zero i only ever played 1 (emulation using save scumming) and 64 3d. i dont recall ever having much issues except maybe return to corneria. and honestly the Git gud of zero i do like a lot.

This video rules. Starfox doesn't get the love it needs, so you taking on the iceberg is awesome. Shine on you glorious fella

I knew about the Venom boss because I did it myself, but I had no idea the boss on Marbeth gets fed up with you until I made this video. Greetings!

Thanks a lot! Nintendo Power and Arwingpedia are great sources for Star Fox 64 and other Star Fox games!
I actually made a Star Fox Iceberg image a few years ago. And I gotta be honest, mine felt like it had a lot of filler
It would be nice to see it. Can you link me to it?

The bird universe ending is pretty F’d up. Stuck in a distorted parallel universe with no way out. That bird is the most powerful thing in Star Fox.
Poor Desslar Coba. He had to go through that

I think they knew what they were doing. You can design hi-tech boots withouot making them look like you can't fit your feet in them.
Out of this Dimension should be *much* higher up. It hasn't been all that obscure at least in the past 15 years or so.
Although it's been well known, I considered putting it at the bottom due to its implications plus the not that well-known fact that a pilot in the past ended up in that dimension. Greetings!
It really is too bad about Starfox adventures... i personally loved it, and it was one of my favorite games on gamecube.
When I got it, I really thought it would have more elements of the original Star Fox, but I learned to love it as a separate game
@TheEisenBergExperience I'm actually in the process of writing a fanfiction about it, an adaptation of its story, after reading ones written by other authors.
I believe SFA became popular in Japan and one the top ten selling gamecube games in the timeline.
Starfox and Perfect Dark, my favorite N64 games are covered.
I hope I cover other favorite games of yours. Greetings!
Great video, as always!
Thank you so much!
awesome stuff an very informative, thanks for the research and work. keep it up

Huh just watched your last video about perfect dark and yeah it was wonderful so I'm definitely gonna be subbing
Thank you so much! It does really help!
Love this man. Can i request that you do an iceberg on the indiana jones n64 game lol. Or conkers bad fur day😅
I would love to talk about Conker's Bad Fur Day at some points I don't think there enough info for an iceberg, but at least I would love to talk about it. Greetings!
Finally a new iceberg
And many more to come!
How come I can't hear what General Pepper sais when he's stamping the bill/check?
That happens when you score less than 1000 points I think. That can happen if you take the easy route that has less enemies to destroy.
awesome!
Thank you!
I'm surprised you didn't mention the dummied out Arwing in Ocarina of Time
It's true! I have an Ocarina of Time iceberg in my other channel, and there I mentioned it, but I totally forgot. Thank you for watching!
There's also Majora's Mask, where several animal themed masks in the game represent Fox, Falco, Peppy, Slippy and Pigma.
What happened to your other channel with the blue profile pic? Or is this a second channel?
This is an alternative channel. The original EisenBerg is still there. I'm working on a Pokémon Colosseum video. I hope you like it. Greetings!

(Press Z or R twice)
Something I wonder is how & why did Andross become a giant head.
In the first Star Fox game, he was a white mask and then a cube. There are more questions than answers...

N64 and adventures. That's the only starfox games to me.
Zero wasn't bad. It just had too much going on.
It's pronounced 'giga', not 'jiga'.
I'll take it into account! Thank you!

Starfox is pretty cool and especially cool for those people who had their furry awakenings
Starblade better
