Seeing as you probably don't know the history the KMS Bismark was a state of the art Battleship built by Germany in the later part of WW2, and they deployed her and and the KMS Prinz Eugen in a hope to break the blockade and in a terrified response Britain sent their fleet near the Staits of Denmark where in a single shot the Bismark sank the HMS Hood killing EVERYONE aboard except 3 because the magazine exploded and this pissed the British off more so as the rest if the fleet showed up the 2 ships attacked the fleet however the Bismark's rudder was irreparably damaged by a Swordfish torpedo bomber so it was stuck going in circles which gave the British Battleships and Heavy Cruisers time to destroy all the guns on the Bismark....here's where this get interesting apparently when this happened the British believed they actually sank the Bismark however when that guy found it, it turned out the Germans actually scuttled the Bismark seeing as about half the crew had been killed the guns destroyed and they couldn't fix the rudder, oh and it was leaking oil. yeah in the end not even the torpedoes got through the armor enough to sink it they scuttled it because it would be an unthinkable blow if the UK had captured it. Still without the lucky hit and the fact the UK was using outdated bombers which the Bismarks guns just over penetrated without detonating or had a hard time hitting that ship could have caused havoc if it got loose.

BBC found a huge hole made by torpedo, scanning with ultrasonic wave searches. Even Germans said they scuttled, it's just because they cannot sail and fight anymore by getting too much damage from British ships. it's not scuttle, if you gonna say Bismarck didn't sunk by British, all the Japanese battleships sunk at Gure port were not sunk by US Navy, they just scuttled.

About the "Good ship vs Bad ship" talk. For the most part, Sabaton doesn't deal with good or bad that way. They tell the story as presice as possible, making it about people and battles (or in this case a ship) and not politics. That what makes them unique. They can sing about one side in a conflict and then turn around and tell another story from the other side, not celebrating war, but the human courage found there. That is why you will find songs like The Screaming Eagles (US Parashooter), the Red Baron (WWI German Flying Ace), Race to the Sea (Belgium WWII) or Hearts of Iron (German WWII). At the same time, they also sing about the stupidity and sacrifice of war, so we wont forget it. (Always relevant, but perhaps now more than ever). "Lest we forget" as can be seen in "Christmas truce".

"The Bismarck had put up a most gallant fight against impossible odds worthy of the old days of the Imperial German Navy, and she went down with her colours flying", said Admiral John Tovey of British Royal Navy.
There is no such thing as "good guys vs. bad guys" when it comes to Sabaton music. Sabaton always express strong censure to Hitler and nazi ideas ("The Final Solution", "Rise of Evil"), but they also show decent respect to all brave soldiers, even if they fought on the wrong side ("No Bullets Fly", "Hearts of Iron"). They always make you think about people involved in conflicts on both sides, about their motivations, thought and feels. It's very important for learning history of our past and finding mutual understanding in tough and sad times like this.

The "Bismarck" , and his sister ship "Tirpitz", were the 2 largest battleships ever built in Europe (250 meters long, 36 meters wide, and displacing more than 50.000 tones) and they were the pride of the kriegsmarine (Germany's militari navy) during ww2. The "Bismarck" set sail in May 1941 to reach the Atlantic and destroy merchant convoys, but he was intercepted by the British and during a brief fight, destroyed the former flagship of the British fleet and pride of the Royal Navy, the worldwide famous battlecruiser "Hood", by penetrating her armor and detonating her aft main ammunition magazine and killing all 1900 members of her crew except for 3 men, and heavily damaged the battleship "Prince of Wales". This enraged the prime minister Winston Churcil who ordered all his ships in the Atlantic to abandon their operations and destroy the Bismarck. In total more than 40 ships participated to the hunt, making it the biggest naval hunt in history. Meanwhile Bismarck, who had received a hit during the first battle, was leaking fuel and was trying to reach the French port of Saint Nazaire, in occupied France, for repair. After 6 days of playing cat and mouse with the British, Bismarck was attacked by airplanes launched from the aircraft carrier "Ark Royal" and hit by a torpedo in the stern, which jammed his rudders during evasive manuvers, meaning that he was forced to sail in circles, just a few miles away from reaching air cover. In the end battleships "King George V" and "Rodney", along side the heavy cruisers "Norfolk" and "Dorsedshire" fought the already doomed battleship and, during the following 90 minutes completely destroyed it. However, despite having all his guns destroyed, and having received more than 400 hits (out of the 2800 shells that the British had fired at her) her armor was still mostly intact and the ship was still afloat. So the british launched another 4 torpedoes and he disappeared beneath the waves. After inspection of the wreck however it had been discovered that the torpedoes did no significant damage thanks to the battleship's excellent armor, and that Bismarck had been scuttled by the crew (although it should be noted that many historians believe that it would have eventually sunk due to the damage received). Of the 2200 men that served on Bismarck, only 114 survived. The old man seen in the video is the son of the last survivor, who died in 2018, 1 year before this song was released

I feel like calling the crew of the Bismark “bad men” is not entirely correct. The ideals of Nazi Germany were entirely the product of one man, whose name is well known. I would be very shocked if the majority of, say, naval commanders, were acting I support of the ideas of the Nazis. I believe most were acting on orders, and believed those order to be in the best interest of Germany, a country they had committed to serve. As can be seen in the video, there is respect between fellow sailors, which I view as personal respect overcoming the false hatred that was supposed to be felt toward the enemy. I realize that this comment will probably get flagged for using the n-I word, but I truly believe that not all those involved were fighting for what those giving orders were making them fight for.

Indeed a taboo for decads in Germany to even think any German WW2 soldier wasn't driven by Nazi ideolgy. Up to the 1999, there was a Wehrmacht exhibition which was focused to the narrative to describe the participation of Wehrmacht soldiers in war crimes (not to seperate Wehrmacht and Waffen SS), because of the trust all Wehrmacht soldiers had for the Nazi ideology. No exception. Easy to argue in black and white, right?
However, even chief commanders had different opinions about the Nazi party. While Kriegsmarine Chief Commander Erich Raeder had absolutely 0 interest into politics, his successor Karl Dönitz was a heated advocate of Hitler and the nazi ideology.

Bismarck (KMS Bismark) - German battleship, the lead ship of the same class, was still no less famous for its brother-Tirpitz. Bismarck is one of the most legendary ships of the Second world war, as well as being the largest battleship in Europe and one of the largest in the world along with the Japanese Yamato and the American Missouri.
Bismarck was launched in 1939 and commissioned in 1940. Bismarck's first (and last) campaign began on may 22, 1941. Then Bismarck, along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen (KMS Prinz Eugen) was to break through the Danish Strait into the Atlantic and begin to sink convoys going to Britain. The first German squadron was discovered by the British cruisers Suffolk and Norfolk (HMS Suffolk and HMS Norfolk) on the evening of 23 may. The British battleship Prince of Wales (HMS Prince of Wales) and the battlecruiser hood (HMS Hood) went to intercept Bismarck. During the battle, Bismarck received several hits, at the same time 5 Bismarck's volley hit directly into Hood's artillery cellars. Hood was torn in two by a massive explosion. Of the 1,477 crew members, only 3 survived. Among the dead was the commander of the British squadron Lancelot Ernest Holland. The Prince of Wales tried to continue the battle, but to no avail and soon disappeared in a smoke screen as one of the shells from Bismarck hit the command post of the Prince of Wales, thereby killing half of the officers, by the way the second shell fired from Bismarck hit the Prince of Wales, but did not explode, the British then pushed him into the sea. Bismarck had one of the generators disabled, two fuel tanks were breached, and there was a trim on the bow and a roll on the starboard side. Gunther Lutyens (commander of the German squadron) decided to lead the Bismarck to the French port of Saint-Nazaire for repairs. Prince Eugen was ordered to continue raiding. Bismarck was chased by the entire British fleet in the region. Bismarck's injuries were not very serious, but they caused Bismarck to lose one of his main advantages - speed. The British lost Bismarck several times, but due to the fact that the British intercepted a radio message sent to Bismarck, it was possible to establish the approximate location of the ship. Bimarco left little to the French Brest. Also, when approaching the coast of occupied France, Bismarck could use Luftwaffe aircraft (Luftwaffe - aviation of the Third Reich) to cover. Only compound H, based in Gibraltar, was able to detain Bismarck. This unit included the aircraft carrier Ark Royal (HMS Ark Royal). On the morning of may 26, the Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers flew to the site of the last sighting of the Bimark. Approximately in the same area was the cruiser Sheffield (HMS Sheffield). The Swordfish pilots mistook Sheffield for Bismarck and torpedoed it. The new magnetic fuses of the torpedoes did not work, and the cruiser remained intact. After this incident, the British changed the magnetic fuses to contact ones. By evening, Sheffield had made visual contact with Bismarck and the Swordfish torpedoes were back in the air. Swadeshi was flying very low and slowly, because of this, the crews of Bismarck simply could not distinguish from the sea. The Suodfishes themselves were biplanes that were obsolete even before they were put into service. The British achieved two or three torpedo hits. One of these hits was fatal for Bismarck - in an attempt to evade the torpedo, Bismarck turned to the left and because of this, the torpedo, instead of hitting the main armored belt, hit the poorly protected aft compartment and tightly jammed the rudders. By morning, orders were given to stop the cars - Bismarck was in the zone of action of German bombers, who did not give Bismarck any help. Bismarck was approached by the British battleships Rodney (HMS Rodney) and King George V (HMS King George V). Bismarck's fire was focused on Rodney, but due to the roll and inability to evade enemy volleys, accuracy was very low. After 44 minutes, all 4 towers of the Bismarck group stopped firing. In order to somehow save some of the surviving crew, after being shot by British ships, captain Ernst Lindemann, who survived the bombing, ordered the engine room to be blown up, the kingstons opened and the ship abandoned. After the fuses were installed, 9 minutes later an explosion was heard from the depths of the wounded Bismarck, which contributed to the final sinking and roll of the battleship on Board. At this point, the cruiser Dosertshire (HMS Dorsetshire), firing 3 torpedoes at the immobilized Bismarck. Bismarck went to the bottom without lowering the battle flag. Of the 2,220 crew, only 114 people were saved - 111 people were saved by the British, and 3 people by the German submarine U-74. Captain Ernst Lindemann himself, as told by the surviving sailors, did not try to make attempts to escape, but on the contrary drove away all the sailors who tried to save him, threatening to shoot (this is so for intimidation), as a result, captain Lindemann heroically went to the bottom with his ship, the last time he was seen at the stern, when he said goodbye to the surviving sailors. By the way after a dive expedition James Cameron, it has been proven that the British torpedo and shells are unable to contribute to the sinking of Bismarck, ie breaking was not detected by torpedoes at the armored belt, but below waterlinie was exactly cut out of the side, this proves that Bismarck scuttled by the Germans themselves when they blew the bottom of the ship and opened the seacocks and not British!
Thanks for the good response, By the way, I advise you to listen to a new composition from the new album Sabaton - Drednought, this song can be said to be the second version of Bismarck👍

The thing with Sabaton is they sing heroic things about every side if there were heroic things but they don't glorify things. They stick to telling true stories without making "bad guys" worse than they were or making them good guys. You have to differentiate between politics and soldiers. Most soldiers just follow orders because they have to, not because they want. Especially in both World Wars.
So they have songs about how well Rommels Division worked(Ghost Division) and about the Red Baron(The Red Baron). Both songs are about German soldiers in the wars and the songs are very heroic, but they also have things like the execution of most of the Jewish people(The Final Solution) or Hitles rise(Rise of Evil). These are not heroic but much darker but beautiful songs. The same thing goes for topics of other countries too.
By the way, they also have a history channel called Sabaton History where they take the history lessons further by explain more about the topics of their songs.
A song reaction I wish is a double reaction. First react to the song The Last Battle and then directly after that to the Sabaton History video about that song/event.

And remember Bismarck did this by only score 2 Hits on the Hood. It literally just yeetus Deletus Hood so hard that Chutchill comes out like a child and saying “SINK THE BISMARCK”
Bismarck also have her sistership named Tirpiz which also being targeted by Royal Navy after the sinking of the Bismarck as Tirpiz stills has pretty much the same threat as her sister. However, Tirpiz never fired her gun at all due to After the sunk of Bismarck, Germany decided Tirpiz hide from the Royal Navy. Tirpiz is somewhat a trouble some to hunt her down as she survives many air attacks from The Royal Navy after Royal Navy sunk the Bismarck. However her luck ends by Royal Navy dropped a 1000lbs bomb on her which makes her cap-side and sunk.

The song was written after the PC game company came to them and asked them for a song to help promote their game World of Warships. Being the story was one of Sabaton's more requested songs to be written by fans this song and video is the result of the collab between Sabaton and Wargaming. Sabaton wrote the song and Wargaming made and produced the video with them.

Awesome band, and the singer, agreed, has an awesome voice. It's reminiscent of David Draiman from Disturbed, or at least I hear a bit of inflection and tone that sounds similar to David.

Sabaton doesn't really usually do 'good or bad'. I mean, just look at modern day American troops. Even within the military, there are 'good and bad', and that's not touching on public perception of the wars we have been in the last few decades. Add in Vietnam troops being spit on when they get back to America, and you realize that 'good and bad' comes down to the individual in all but the absolute worst cases of war crimes. What Sabaton does is highlight specific military events, moments, battles, or people from history. Us US Marines are very proud of our devil dog title, I even have it as a tattoo. Sabaton did a song about that. They've also done songs showing Russians kicking ass, Germans kicking ass, Spartans kicking ass, etc. They don't get into politics, they just show badass men doing the best for their country...regardless of if their country was in the right. A good example might be No Bullets Fly, about a German pilot who saved American flyers from getting shot down in WWII. And I know you said you didn't want to read books, but A Higher Call was a good book written about the event as well.

they did make a short "Making of video " for this music video -ruclips.net/video/grtfiIIeS5o/видео.html, also the last survivor of the Bismarck passed away before this song & video were made, the boat capt. is his son and the items on the wall of his office are the real deal. and the video follows the events of the battle pretty close to how it really went down

      Yes.
I tried to figure one thing out in the double shooting just after the second chorus.
The second volley is Rodney firing at Bismarck, but I can't figure out if the first volley right before is Bismarck firing at Rodney or if it's King George V firing at Bismarck.

Thank you to World of Warships for creating the amazing battle scene for this video. All the ships and fighting were created using CGI, then used Live Action actors placed into the scene. This is just one example of some of World of Warship's amazing battle scenes they can make. BTW- World of Warships is a free to play warship game. You can see more of the Bismarck in their mini documentary too called Naval Legends. ruclips.net/video/7K9BJhlt0zo/видео.html

There's not really a "good" or "evil" side in war, there's kill or be killed. Everyone committed war crimes during WW2 on both sides and we should pay respect to the fallen no matter what country they fought for. Someone's son died in the German, Japanese, Italian or any other Axis army and their families had to live with that pain for the rest of their lives.

that a common mistake, in the case of hitler, it wasnt good or evil as per se, but, people love him because, he was a politician, that promise he would rebuild germany and it will make it prosper again re taking the former territory, lost in WW1, and at certain point in the war... he did that, the crimes commited by the nazis.... were all orchestated, by menguele, a guy obsesed with purity and race supremacy, in fact there are testaments, of german soldiers who never knew what they do to the people on the concentration camps, and when they saw the pics and videos, they felt bad, at the point of vomit, for an entire hour, crym curse, en even kill themselves in front of US soldiers in a way of ammend things, the thing ism hitler it wasnt a general, or a commander, it was a politician, one of the best generals hitler had, rommel, turn against him when he found what hitler was doing with prisoners and people on the camps, thats why hitler sent the SS to kill rommel, because hitler feared, that rommel change sides, and then the allies will had a enormous resource of intel in theyr hands, yeah what hitler did was terrible, but again most of the crimes where mengele work not hitler's, and thats what most people normally forget.
