There is one line that's Rommel's book on Stormtrooper tactics "Infantry Attacks" ("Infanterie greift an") based on his experience in the Great War.
"Stormtroopers" as a designator has a bad rep because the Nazis vaingloriously named their party stooges such and then there's Star Wars...^^
But "Sturmtruppen" ("Stormtroopers") or "Stoßtruppen" ("Shock Troops") where among the first users, and certainly the first that codified this new small (platoon scale, max. company scale) scale infantry tactics (among other, less official, where Canadian infantry used as shock troops, cue the reason why WH40K has "Cadian Shock Troops" as a nod).
Among the typical, then new, elements where the massive, really *massive* "bandoliers of them on troopers" massive, use of hand grenades to swiftly clear trenches, shorter guns - carbines, originally a weapon for the cavalry, stocked pistols (the long P-08, originally a second line backup, unofficially but hugely popularly the stocked C-96 - think Han Solos gun sans the sci-fi stuff on it), close quarters implements like trench daggers, shortened bayonets and clubs, closely coordinated short distance artillery and mortars, massive gas attacks with gas masked troops also psychologically "inhumane" "insectoid" faces - all for the maximum shock effect and the highest possible operative speed.
It's technically not "stormtrooper tactics" but "Hurtier-tactics" (named for General der Infanterie Oskar von Hutier; pronounced french i.e. "Hurtyé", another Prussian Huguenot character, I descend from those people^^) or "Infiltrations tactics" - fast, low scale breakthrough, executed with maximum speed and minimum artillery preparation followed by encirclement, the "classic" German thing, see Alfred Graf (Count) von Schlieffen's "Cannae Studies" and the obsession with the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC.
The elite stormtroopers pretty much carried the field in the initial breakthroughs (the first ones in four years) of the Spring Offensive 1918 (The "Kaiserschlacht" - "Emperor's Battle") but eventually ran, well not out of steam but out of *troops* to carry on, because the initial breakthrough killed a lot of the trained experts, ironically *because* they where led from the front at maximum violence and speed, the very reason for their success.
Oh and "Jäger", literally "Hunters" where light, independently acting infantry ever since the 18th century, sometimes deploying rifles instead of muskets - the British green-uniformed "Rifle Formations" of the Napoleonic Wars where based on these troops, the initial Stormtroopers came from the light infantry because of the tradition of independence in the field, later supported by Engineers as "Assault Pioneers" and forward spotters for a very modern, very "unlike 19th century", combined arms combat groups.
Today this is completely normal "standard" infantry tactics, you can see them deployed in the current War in Ukraine by both sides...
    Best regards
    Raoul G. Kunz

The "Kaiserschlacht" was the last all out attack of the Germans in spring on 1918, trying to finally break through the Allied lines, before the fresh American troops showed up. Their main tactic to achieve that, were Stormtroopers or Shock troops, who dealt fast and overwhelming attacks, which would later transform into the tactic of "Blitzkrieg" (lightning war) in WW2.

This is from the new album and all of the songs are about WW1. The record is insanely good, not a bad song on it. Soldier of heaven you have already heard. He is from Sweden and our Rs sound like that when we talk but we dont do so when speaking or singing in English so he stands out a little bit.

A real good book to read on WW1 from the German side is "Storm of Steel " by Ernst Junger who was a Stormtrooper Officer. the Stormtroopers were shock troops they would have a wide array of weapons and used new tactics in assaulting trenches.

As it's been said, Joakim Brodén is half Swedish and half Czech. He grew up in Sweden mostly speaking Swedish. But he does speak some Czech and since they tour all over the world, he usually learns a few words in every language to talk to the audience. And obviously his english is very good.
Interesting little fact is that he was not a singer at all when he joined this band in 1999 (age 18/19). He was a keyboard player and he wrote songs.
But as the band did not have a singer they made their song writer sing, "only until they found a real singer" but they never did. Instead they hired a keyboard player (in 2005) and made Joakim their permanent frontman despite his protests, as he never intended to be a singer at all!
These days he is still the main song writer and splits the lyrics with Pär (bass). He is unique in his singing style, and has no vocal training. What he does is something that comes naturally and is all him, which makes it all the more impressive.
If you check out an interview from him, it's little bit funny because he sounds so different. He is so nice and funny and not growly. He is a baritone, but the contrast is interesting...

I'm glad that you mentioned that last bit about how Joakim's voice lends power to the stories that Sabaton tells. They're already epic but you feel it a lot more with a strong voice like that. If you listen to a particular live version of "Into the Fire" (ruclips.net/video/21QApf4vqfc/видео.html) you'll hear this very well. Joakim sounds like he's going Super Saiyan at the beginning.

The Stormtroopers were a specific special force from the German army that were developed at the end of WW1. They used new tactics and even the first bullet proof west invented by Germans. The idea was Aggressiveness, Speed and Deadlines so they were the best of the best and not normal infantry. They were supposed to get around enemy trenches and clean them up.
Also a cool fact that they had new tactics that still many countries use today. So they were very modern like everything what the Germans invented and did ;-)
And yes they were a great inspiration for the Star wars Stormtrooper.

If you watch a recently released Sabaton song, it's probably World War I. Their last 2 albums had that as the theme. (The Great War, and War to End All War). Some albums are a mix of eras, and other ones look at just one era at a time.
