Lovely to see this. I'm a classical music agent and looked after Sally Harrison who was Carlotta during 2004/2005 and saw Rachel Barrell a lot. I'll never forget how stunned we all were by her Think of Me cadenza on the first night or her emotional honesty that seemed there very of the many times I saw the show during that year. There was also a magical moment that the amateur video doesn't capture. Unlike many Christines, she did the pointe work and saw was in blocked shoes for this number. When she came forwards at "Flowers fade," she floated across the stage in a way that was completely entrancing. Her very white sound may not always be captured well on bootlegs but in the theatre it had a shivering purity that remains over ten years later unforgettable.
Her acting is impeccable! She really took this role seriously. Her voice! Like an angel! Has been my favourite Christine for the past year now and hasn't changed since!
I actually really like Rachel's characterisation of Christine playing Elissa. It irritates me when Christines bounce across the stage like they're singing "Sunshine and Lollipops" or something of that perky sentiment because Think of Me isn't a happy song!!! Elissa is trying to put on a brave face because she knows Hannibal is going to leave her. The lyrics suggest she's saying, "it's OK, I don't love you THAT much anyway (unless you come back) but I'm so going to make you regret leaving me!!!"
She's currently my favorite Christine! Because she just reminds me of Christine from the book! All though I LOVE Sierra, I hate when people say "Andrew Lloyd Webber knows best who's the best Christine for his musical," but she's already a character in a book and I'm sorry, the book is what I compare my Christine's to! Like I said, love Sierra, but she just seems older as for Rachel seems younger! I mean I'd love to be Christine one day, but fear that I'd be too old or look too old for that matter. But for some reason, even Ali [ current Christine ] looks young for Christine!
ALW never end said she was “the best Christine” anyway lol, I’ve seen several videos when he’s asked about her and whilst he does have very high praises for her portrayal he *never* said she’s categorically the best 🤷🏼♀️ that’s just something the often toxic “Rierra” (urgh) fandom likes to run with. Funnily enough, I have been a Phan since long before LND & the 25th (the good old days 😫) and back then Rachel and Rebecca Caine were generally considered the best Christines by the Phandom - and with good reason!
FuddyduddyBella also I agree, except for the Vegas production back in 2006 Sierra looks much too old for Christine. And too modern - Rachel on the other hand easily fits into a period piece with her more traditional looks. Sierra’s Christine is kinda Barbie-ish (for lack of a better word).
@@melissam597 christine is supposed to be 20 which in the era the piece is set would be a fully adult woman, not a teenage girl like Emmy Rossum. Not sure why they keep wanting such a young portrayal.
Rachel's always been one of my favorites. I've lost touch with more recent castings over the years, but I did always love her performance as Christine (never saw her live, but through youtube videos lololol I'm sure she was incredible live).
Well, everyone has their own opinion I guess:) III think that Rachel's amazing- beautiful and has the best singing voice! I would die for that voice!!!
As some one reciving singing lessons from her (not a joke she actually runs a junior musical theatre company that i go too) She has not lost her voice!!!!
Twice I booked tickets for Phantom when Rachel was in the role of Christine and both times I saw the alternate - Katie Night Adams. Hugely disappointed both times.
@RandomChara I think exactly the same here, I mean she looks like she is emotionless, cannot even say there is acting!! At least she needs to smile... I mean once u are on stage, you will just go with the flow and not scared once started, there is no way she is scared all the way.
Wow. I'm jealous lolz. I look up to her because she isn't that petite (she's broader in her shoulders if you get what I mean) and I'd love to play Christine when I'm older but I'm worried because I'm not that petite. She has a great voice but I agree with what people have said about her acting. She looks quite bored to be honest!
FuddyduddyBella Her hair was longer with JOJ. This one is like the hair that she wore on 25th February 2006 video. There's another video of her singing Think of me with the waist long hair.
wow she is amazing .. can anyone please help me cause i dont know the whole lyrics an d i cant understand everything lol )not native speaker) and i want this lyrics ik only can get the remember me every so often promise me u try lol please help
tiene una voz preciosa y esta interpretacion hubiera sido impecable si al menos supiera actuar bien :/ yo prefiero como interpreta esta cancion Gina Beck
+Weronika K It's David Shannon. I think it's from the 25th February 2006 show when Matt Cammelle played the Phantom. You can watch the full show on RUclips. And Oliver Thornton has a lighter voice.
Wow, I like Gina Beck's acting in this scene better, but Rachel is a close second (she seems a bit more sad or just less happy here, which works as this song is what Christine would want to say to Phantom at the end of the play), but her voice is so free flowing, so good.

She owns a ballet school now. She's a trained ballet dancer.
Her acting is impeccable! She really took this role seriously. Her voice! Like an angel! Has been my favourite Christine for the past year now and hasn't changed since!
Agree totally! Rachel is so underrated :(
That still is one of the best cadenzas I've ever heard a Christine do, if not THE best!
she is one of my favourite christines. her cadenzas are always amazing and look so effortless. and she is wonderful actress.

Wait how do you know the name of the character in hanible
KIttychoir_ one of the managers says to Carlotta “I believe Elissa has a rather fine aria” in Hannibal to get her to sing Think of Me

ALW picked Hadley, Gerard, Emmy, Steve Harley...he is more than capable of making bad choices lol

Rachel is right up there with Gina.
her voice is sooo beautiful, she really captures christine's innocence in this song
ohh!
same again
she's wowww!
her and sierra are wonderful BRAAAVVOOOOOOOOOO!

The girl who plays Meg is Amazzzzinnnggg!!
The Meg is FANTASTIC!
Well, everyone has their own opinion I guess:) III think that Rachel's amazing- beautiful and has the best singing voice! I would die for that voice!!!
Also the way her words soar. 👌🏼
As some one reciving singing lessons from her (not a joke she actually runs a junior musical theatre company that i go too) She has not lost her voice!!!!
She sounds and looks like Snow White
Twice I booked tickets for Phantom when Rachel was in the role of Christine and both times I saw the alternate - Katie Night Adams. Hugely disappointed both times.
She's a lovely soprano, she reminds me a bit of Sarah Brightman (vocally).
@RandomChara I think exactly the same here,

she sings very effortless, I'm impressed :)
Is there any chance to get a copy of the whole show...?!?!?!?
Just let me know, what to do...
I love the Quality of this Video...!!! So CLEAR!!!
Robert Neal Foster
I think you've watched the full show already.
@thebackgroundartiste No. It's from the production in London that has been running for 25 years.
Wow. I'm jealous lolz. Who was the Phantom for this show?
Chezmeralda
Matthew Cammelle, most likely.
Chezmeralda nahhh, it was John Owen-Jones.
I know this comment was 5years ago but I saw this bootleg and it's John.
FuddyduddyBella

Great voice but her eyes are emotionless
Isn't this from 25th February 2006 show?
@Musicalperformer92 who is that playing Meg?
does anyone know who plays raoul in this video?
Felice Yang
David Shannon

she seems a bit nervous and is concentrating on her singing too much
Yes.
wow she is amazing .. can anyone please help me cause i dont know the whole lyrics an d i cant understand everything lol )not native speaker) and i want this lyrics ik only can get the remember me every so often promise me u try lol please help

Pienso igual, canta muy bonito y me gustó el final pero le falta mucho carisma y una mejor actuación...
Is this on West End? The wigs look different from the B'way ones.
I just meant that the song think of me is pretty boring acting wise
thats what opera meant to be like you dont act much
@Felice Yang I believe the Raoul here is Oliver Thornton
No. It was David Shannon.
Possibly. Both Oliver and David played with Rachel.
+Weronika K

Yes, I know. I saw that video on youtube.
Weronika K
Have you heard John Owen Jones singing All I Ask of You? He'd make a great Raoul.
@hazellwood Yes
Who plays Raoul here
@LegallyWickedMermaid YepYep.
almost the whole show. Missing a few parts.
Wow, I like Gina Beck's acting in this scene better, but Rachel is a close second (she seems a bit more sad or just less happy here, which works as this song is what Christine would want to say to Phantom at the end of the play), but her voice is so free flowing, so good.
Lol, do you know the story?
@vmkwinner ???
@FarinelliNBG Mhm.
@FarinelliNBG PM please...
At 1:06 it's sounds like she coughed a little
+Laura Cristina De La Espriella She did :)
She is brilliant I just hate the acting
She has a really nice voice, but her acting sucks >.< She could at least pretend she's enjoying herself...not even a smile...
Jennifer To think of me isn’t meant to be a happy song
She looks more like mulan soubrette87 than Snow White because she has Chinese eyes
