    John is one of the best singing Phantoms EVER! Right up there with Stephen Buntrock and Gary Mauer. Hugh Panaro, Ramin Karimloo, Davis Gaines and John Owen Jones are right behind them.

    One of the best. Saw him on the Toronto tour. He was so good I had to see it twice. Got to meet him after. Hes incredibly humble to talk to

      No surprise he is humble. I knew and worked with his father--a wonderful physician. His dad was quiet, calm, competent and humble as well. His dad was very proud of him and used to enjoy it whenever nurses went to see John on B'way--loved hearing their reactions to his performances. John looks a lot like his dad.

    I've seen it 6 times so far, and I think Hugh Panaro has the best voice, but John Cudia has the best acting, and is more believable, especially in the Final Lair scene when he's weeping on the floor, omg

    • @KelliDiMera
      @KelliDiMera 7 лет назад +2

      You know, it's funny you say that. I think a lot of time because of how powerful John Cudia's voice is, his acting isn't quite given the recognition it deserves. He really went all out with his acting. His final lairs were gut wrenching.

    I saw him a few years ago and wow! I've seen a lot shows and a lot of actors, and his stage presence was captivating. I think the entire audience was nearly breathless during MOTN. One of the best actors I've ever seen - and one of the nicest! We met him at the stage door and he could not have been more humble or kind. Love him!

    Wow, that has got to be the most powerful 'be' I've ever heard! Even rivals Anthony Warlow's. ;-) And I love that extra touch he put there when Christine fainted, how he looks like he has no idea what to do because he wasn't expecting it. That's really sweet. :-)

    Magnificent talent here. I'm fortunate enough to be working with Mark Oswald, who is also currently John's voice teacher (hopefully, I'll get to meet him one of these days!). I always preferred a classical sound for the Phantom, and Cudia knocks it out of the park in that regard.

    My Phantom. I saw him first as Raoul and then as the Phantom. I will not be as rude as others and say he is the best of all Phantoms, but he is my favorite, other than Michael. I remember it like it was yesterday, the echo of his voice during this song. It was marvelous... =)

    @BuzzBuzzerful London is the only place where the Phantoms are still allowed to catch her at the end, pretty much everywhere else they can't because some of the actors have had back problems. Seems like an odd excuse to me, since some of the London Phantoms have had back problems and still catch her.

  • @mysticoversoul
    @mysticoversoul 11 лет назад +12

    Ben has a booming majestic voice but it can be too nasal sounding specially with the sustained higher notes. In contrast, the voice of performers like Karimloo, Cudia, and Owen-Jones effortlessly glide as they rise in pitch without sounding nasalized as the result of voice placement techniques to hit the high notes.

    • @TheMsiaddict
      @TheMsiaddict 8 лет назад +1

      He has a sharp voice, not nasal. Compare it to Chris Mann the true American Phantom 😉.

      Funny you say that as John Cudia was the understudy to Howard on Broadway before going on the touring Phantom seen here. I have no doubt Howard Influenced John (I've seen both and the similarity is uncanny, though John had more of that 'sexiness' to it). But the subtle movements were definitely similar.

    Is there a place somewhere online that lists all actors' and actresses' names who've played Phantom, Christine, and Raoul, including when (exclusive dates) and where (NY, London, tour, etc.) they performed in the POTO production?

    • @itchiefeetadventures
      @itchiefeetadventures 4 года назад

      RIGHT! My Son & I saw The Phantom in March 2010 at Her Majesty's Theater & I think it was John Cudia who played the Phantom during that performance, but there is nowhere I can find on the web that lists every actor who played the Phantom's & their time frame at Her Majesty's Theater. Ugh! Its so frustrating NOT KNOWING! 🤬

    Not that I agree with either comment, but there is a difference between disrespect and criticism. By choosing a career in show business, one is basically signing oneself up for criticism, so if John read this I think he could take it. That being said, John Cudia is the best Phantom ever.

  • @r3dscarf
    @r3dscarf  11 лет назад

    Only the London version has the trio version, in which all three characters sing for the full duration of the scene. The stage show does not involve a sword fight, if that's what you meant.
