Wow!! Better than Broadway! Each one of those girls could really sing... Brilliant ....on the scale of a professional production. Wondering how many of those girls ended up pursuing musical theatre...
Check out Mary Lou by the Creative Force, amazing
The direction in this show is WONDERFUL! This young woman should do this professionally.
Ummm this was utter and complete genius! Everyone was so spot on. I'm so blown away!
At first I thought this was a particularly amazing production from Stratford East (East London) but this is Stratford Playhouse, an award winning theatre company from America. It is excellent. Strong, confident voices and wonderful and imaginative staging.
Actually, Stratford Playhouse is award-winning, but it's a theatre program at a public high school in Houson, Texas
Sir, I stand corrected.
This is brilliant for a high school production. Wonderful job!
It was better than the movie.
Such a great way of incorporating the title song from the movie into the stage version!
This is how you start a show! So much energy right off the bat! Love this
Fun fact- Bye Bye Birdie didn't have a theme song title until the producers demanded one for the movie adaption. It's interesting to see how subsequent theater adaptions have incorporated the add-on theme.
Absolutely genius. I think this is a perfect version of the classic opening of Bye Bye Birdie! Very new, and inspiring especially the opening sequence of channel flipping with the old TV set.
I was in a play of Bye Bye Birdie last month, and we did this opening, except we didn’t do the musical number, and the girls just sang the Birdie song instead. You know, the “We Love You Conrad, Oh Yes we do”
I just finished doing it. We didn't sing the opening because of the line "you really turn me on". So unfair
This was incredible. Great Job to all involved. The transition from video to stage was practically seamless.
Outstanding. I cannot believe these are high schoolers....I am stunned by this...
This is so cool! Actually found out the one in the white blouse and yellow skirt is my theater teacher!!
This song should be in every production 👍
Amazing! So professional. Love every minute.
The gasp after Ursula sings "You really turn me on. I'm like a savage beast" Is the funniest thing
Much better than Ann Margaret's version! Saw her on Mad Men & had to cover my ears! Bravo, Stratford!!
Wonderful job. I truly enjoyed this performance.
AMAZING!! Delightful!!! Joyous. Great voices and staging. Thank you!!
This was seriously amazing!
Bro this is so ridiculously good
Awesome ! This would belong on Broadway !
What a great original beginning!! Great job!!
This is beautiful!
Incredible! Great Job!
Did the student director direct the entire thing???
goodvBD12345 no. She was helping out. Asseisent director basically
I thought it was funny when the reporter tried to take his microphone back! 😂😂😂
This is wonderful! And it was an excellent choice to ditch the annoying/whiny voices that are so often associated with the Bye Bye Birdy song
Who else thinks the reporter man in this scene is hilarious when he tries to snatch the microphone bank from the girls while they sing, and then he keeps getting knocked out of the way when the girls make a big gesture.
This is great!
Love it, it was honestly sincere,
This is adorable! 😍
Brilliant!
Great job
Soooo good
This is the first I have seen the stage production opening rather that the Hollywood version.
I would like this song too. Just the one song not the whole show.
please post more west side story scenes/songs
i refuse to believe this is a high school production
Believe it!
This number is a much, much stronger opening number than "An English Teacher".
Richard Berry English teacher follows it.
@@michaelwalters4705 I know, but I am saying that's it's a stronger choice to start the show with this, followed by English Teacher.
is this in the actual musical or was it added? either way it’s genius
I think the actor playing the announcer in this scene also plays Harvey Johnson in later scenes.
Hello, I know this was a while back, and I contacted the high school, but I was just wondering if anyone might have new information on how to find this opening number arrangement?
How did you add this song to the show legally? I can’t find how to anywhere online
My school is doing this show but a really modified version. We aren’t even aloud to say cigarette🙄
I think they used the CBS Bulletin card from when JFK was shot. Cool.
As a Boomer, that brief scene gave me chills. Too many bad memories.
