- Stratford High School's Stratford Playhouse in Houston, TX performs it's version of "Honestly Sincere" from the musical BYE BYE BIRDIE - here featuring Philip Bevers as Conrad Birdie.
So many great moments here: Conrad singing to Ursula's mother;Conrad making Kim scream and faint ; the cheerleaders fainting simultaneously when Conrad sings "hug me ". The best is Conrad tossing away the handkerchief and the girls stampeding over Harvey to get it. Thumbs up to all and especially the actors playing Conrad, Ursula, and Harvey.
I know I’m late to the comments here but I’m so impressed by the overall production of this show - whatever is lacking is made up by the enthusiasm and talent of all players, nobody loses character even in the back. I adore the Harvey Johnson actor, I hope he’s gone on to more stage shows. Well done!
Right off the bat - your HS version totally beats mine from 30 years ago. Great job to you all!
I really like when he says “hug me , suffer “ 😂
I'm very impressed by this young Conrad. He killed it. Really great portrayal... possibly the best I've seen.
shcon Ummm no. He sings all of the notes flat. Jesse Pearson and Elvis are rolling In there graves.
Thomas Eastmond Jesse Pearson didn't amount to much because he couldn't act worth a damn. He's a very unmemorable Birdie in the 1963 movie. I admit this young man may not have the greatest voice, but his characterization and performance are terrific
Richard Berry Well yeah, Pearson couldn't act to save his life, but I personally loved his singing. This kid's acting is much better though.
Meanwhile, I'm sitting here thinking- wow that guitar player is hot!
The biggest mass genocide in musical history.
Philip Bevers as Conrad Birdie GOT IT DEAD ON!! Great job!
I wish there was a recording of this entire musical put on by this school! It’s phenomenal
This Conrad is so good wowie
Oh my gosh! This was great! Harvey, The Mayor, and Ursula were my absolute favorites!
This is probably the best production of bye-bye Birdie I’ve seen yet
This is a really talented bunch of high school performers!
I love this Conrad Birdie!! Very enjoyable and entertaining
5:08 When my high school did this our director said something like having this part look like “the bomb” was dropped. My sophomore year we did The Wiz. Junior year was West Side Story. Senior year was when we did Bye Bye Birdie. Being in the musicals was a lot of fun. This one was my favorite!
That is so cool! My school drama program is doing this play and said to act like a wave of a tsunami is knocking you out! It's so fun to do and we are preforming it tomorrow eee
I played kim in my 6th grade operetta! This gives me great flash backs of when I played her. This production is very good!
I'm playing Ursula and understudying Mae in my school's production and I am BEYOND excited :)
Watch just for Harvey Johnsons faint hahaha
You my man inspired my main bit of Conrad when I went "yeah I look you in the eye" etc. I'll post my schools rendition of Bye Bye Birdie soon but it's pretty okay. Not amazing not bad. I think I did a hella good job as Conrad however
I love this song! The quality is amazing, costume, music and performances are phenomenal!
This is really good for a high school
0:27 - "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard! Not nobody, not nohow!"
My sisters school did this in either 04/05/06 it was a great musical
i can't stop watching this video
What a fantastic performance! I am directing this show now. What size are those pompons and where did you get them? I appreciate their fullness! Way better than what is used today in cheerleading!
This guy’s great
about to do this play
So cool
Harvey is my spirit animal
\
bless your soul omg
4:47 LMAO
Is that Macaulay Culkin on guitar?
When i feel a girl i really that girl 😂😂
At 0:40 , Is that Bill Skarsgård
:-0 omg
LOL Wow
1:32
He reminds me of Christopher Walken
As Conrad in my play I really am not a fan of this guy's singing. It's really breathy!
Glad to see you've mastered the Conrad character's self-centered nature. I'm sure you will do it justice.
Bill Moore In all seriousness though this guy can't sing. Almost all of his notes are flat.
Thomas Eastmond like your butt. Get a life.
Cameron Hartline Dude this guy can't sing! Anyone with a musical ear can hear that.
Cameron Hartline Are you gay?
Well he's no Roye Robley that's for sure He was the best Conrad birdie in our production of bye bye birdie
wut
The amount of vocal fry he's using can't be good for him
I don’t know if I like Conrad or not 😕 Attitude is there and all, but I don’t really like the singing. It’s really growlish. 😕
Mayor was miscast. Should be a Paul Ford type. Why the squeaky voice? Distracting and not funny.
Oh I can do so much better
he's not too bad, but he is too pale, need to get some tan,
also, need more outrageous hairdo, that's too plain. sideburns should help.
also, some chest hair.
This kid played Birdie so terribly 😒
I assume there’s a video of you doing it better?
iamgabexix can u do any better
No need to be rough on the kid. Geez
Compared to the movie, this is awful!
Cheril well it’s not the movie Cheril and they’re in high school
Like you can do any better
The 1963 movie version of Birdie is a disgrace. Worst adaption of a stage musical to a movie musical EVER.
