Hint, slide the clamp on over the pipe first and well down the pipe out of the way. Then slide the boot on over the lip on the pipe. Then slide the clamp back into the correct position. Yes they can be a pain. 😊

I retired from Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. They too use microbes. It was a plant called the "Bio Ponds" we just called it the "Bug Pond." All the wastewater from all the plants went to the Bio-Ponds before being released to the river after the outfall was analyzed of course. If the "bugs" in the pond got sick, the entire Plant-B Division may have to be shutdown which would cost millions of dollars. They took loving care of the "bugs."

You only need to pull the bottom bolt out of the injector. The retainer rocks up and slides away to pull the injector without pulling the top bolt. Those oil deflectors for the injector are used to keep the exhaust oil from wearing a hole in the valve cover gaskets or blowing oil under the gasket.

  • @rondogwil

Can I just say THANK YOU! for putting the exhaust out the side! If you're going to trailer with a truck, the last thing you want is the exhaust blowing at you while you're hitching things up. I know it's the appearance fad these days, and even most factory trucks are coming with that, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

to stop the squirrels/ critters leaving you lovely stashes of nuts if you put some wire mesh over the snorkel intake pipe of the air box it will stop them crawling up it. just need a small mesh size. basically as long as a pencil doesn't fit through then its good. as mice apparently have deformable skulls and if a pencil fits, they fit.

Yes I remember the gear oil smell for sure. Worse is the old special posi oil they used in my 66 Chevelle! Years ago I accumulated an assortment of various sizes, lengths and thread pitch bolts, cut the heads off and use them to align and help hold parts like that cover in place until I can get the bolts in. Often makes those jobs easier. I've bought rebuilt water pumps for a small block Chevy that had the impeller installed backward so it happens! Good work on all of those jobs!

I've seen dino and synthetic from the same brand not play nice with each other and sludge an engine. Some goober I know was using 3 quarts conventional and 3 quarts synthetic to make a "custom" blend in their new LS and changed oil every 3000. That was a real mess when they went full synthetic still with that brand and 1000 miles later all the sludge in the engine cut loose. Ever had an engine suddenly start trying to shake itself out of the mounts because 5w30 suddenly got thicker than gear oil? The engine ended up being fine but still scary. That truck was traded 30,000 miles later with 44k on it still running perfect. Only makes sense that it could happen with diff oil too. That's why I always tell people to pick an oil and stick with it. And I'm so glad I wasn't able to smell that old diff oil because it seems like the more beat up it is the worse it smells. BTW, I'm in my 40's now and get reminded that I'm not as durable and flexible as I used to be. Take care of yourself now because that will make a huge difference in how your body works later.

I had one of theses trucks can’t remember what year it was but it was just like this one. I think a 97.
I had to change valve cover gaskets for a dead cylinder the injector wires went thru the gaskets one was bad, they said it is common problem. Injectors started failing later. So I had change a bunch of those, in those days they were like 8000.00 each at the parts store. I don’t drive any more of Ford diesels. Only a Cummins man now. I wanted one of these trucks a long time before I got one, owned it a couple of years and sold it. Went back to Dodge. But I always liked the look and sound of these trucks mine was early Power Stroke 5 speed manual and 4x4 extended cab. Cab lights and Green in color. One thing I didn’t like was with out aggressive tires it didn’t do well in mud. Got stuck easy, even on hard but muddy ground.
They can be hard to start in cold weather. Cummins is a drastic opposite difference.
But man will they run, very quick. In 5th it would run faster than I wanted to drive it. 4 th will show you over 100.

Only tech tip keep everything loose so it can move a little when assembling and use ‘dishwashing fluid’ inside the rubber/silicone hoses as a lubricant to help getting everything on. Dishwashing fluid doesn’t hurt the hoses. It’s what we use as a CAT dealer for all big hoses that a tight fits over the rolled edges.

I bought a brand new 04 power stroke the first year they came out, It stayed in the shop more than I drove it with injector problems! Enjoy watching y’all’s videos from central Fl.

    Gotta love the warranties
You have a $100. part bad off the self new. You have it installed and find out it's bad. They gladly replace the part, but NOW you are paying twice for the same labor for thier bad part.
Even if your doing your own labor, it's a pain in the butt

I love my 7.3, 96 E350 van 381K. The main part of the block has never been opened up. I.bought it in Nov of 2019 and it had 331K on the odometer from the original owners stepson. Yes he had changed water pumps, alternator starter and such. At 100000 mi the Ford factory did a recall on the injectors and they changed them and the wired valve cover gaskets.
The stepson was a tinkerer and did all other work on the van and motor himself. I've been putting about 12000 a year except for 1 year it was parked for Aprox 10 months. Thought about putting a Banks kit like the one you used but less room and so.much harder to work.on than a pickup. Like you said it's Fords million mile engine (Actually International's) Great engine. Thank you for your channel.
