Jean is powerful but the other movies made it seem like she was born with the Phoenix force when that's not true. Jean is an omega level mutant, but she's not the most powerful mutant not even close actually. Jean isn't even the most powerful X-Men. Her actual powers are telekinesis and telepathy, and she's only an omega level telepath. Her son is actually more powerful than she is, Nate Grey. Anyone with the Phoenix force is this powerful. It goes toward people who are telepaths because it amplifies the Phoenix force's powers. And there have been telepaths that have had the powers of the Phoenix force and been just as powerful as her, Quentin Quire is an example. Crazy enough one of the most powerful users of the Phoenix is actually Logan. So I don't know why these movies keep doing this but everything that they are telling people is wrong.
Just goes to show you should always create your own opinions and enjoy what you enjoy. I LOVED Apocalypse and it gets a ton of hate. I've never been a comic book reader but only because I'm visually impaired and couldn't read the print, but because I didn't enjoy the content.

ive noticed something about all "the reactors on youtube" when it comes to this movie or series. yall really instinctually believe humans arent stronger than mutants, the humans are the ones who gifted them with life(aparts from the gods the eternals" who started this fiestgo) and choose to mask their appearance amongst the rest of society, bruh what is wrong with yall.. the mutation registry act wasn't to protect the humans it was to give the mutants more leeway and better chance(it was to allow them to walk amongst the human/mutation laws freely(but this doesnt happen until around 1980s) yes magneto is warmongering bag of turds but ill get into that later.. humans are dangerous from their looks to their livelyhoods being threaten, look at what we continue to do,pillage and destroy, what did that one human once said "victory at all cost." who was that churchill? anyways.. this is part of the dark phoenix arc(but these millionaires in irl are the ones pulling the strings in these movies,apart from the high caliber actors/directors/writers) this movie was c at best(there was a lot and it was twisted storyline.. i dont know why, the fanbase is still watch these things.. they wont ever give us the real comic movies) and yes,xavier was protecting himself definitely a very much real threat/ a child who had lost her mom(in fact killed her)and jean shouldve gotten the truth from the start(xavier out here being cersei from game of thrones, yeah imma say this lol) xavier is literally cersei on some many levels magneto is living his best life,until jean brings her troubles to his door(the guy isnt stupid, he knows something is amiss) his war veteran a survivor of the most vicious recent concentration camp imaginable. he knows what it genuinely takes to survive and hes lost more from tyrannical mutants than anyone else(he knows about being buried under the foothold of oppressed and hes not going to allow humans to dominant him either, hell bend the knee but will never succumb to them.. beast i feel for that guy, hes one the most emotionally driven yet still keeps his composure. him being smart is under shooting what he can truyly do. same with storm, by the way shes now a psychic weather manipulation witch, thats the fans have placed her under recently,and shes yet to cut loose her full potential. cyclops, poor fellow jean is his first real friend and love interest, and hes the bad boy too(unlike logan) mystiques death seems so anti-climatic" like they were really pushing narrative to watch it unravel at the seams(trifecta of xavier/beast/magneto was exploding in this arc but it allowed them to come together) the ird were the men/women charted to bag and tag the mutants seen in this movie(the animated 1990s series of xmen explains it alot "political/spirtual/ethnics included and xmen evolution gives a slight different version of it. this was the control both the viligante/dangerous and any unregistered mutants/gain their abilities and weakness. it also future helped with "days of future past." sentient program(unbeknowest to both humans/mutants)
I actually liked this one! But that may be because I think Sophie Turner is one of the hottest young actresses on the planet right now. Personal preference.
My dislike for any X-men movie is soley based on being butthurt that it was not as good as the cartoon. I never read the comics. If you like the X-Men give the 90s animated series a watch. The X-Men 97 show that just came out is fire.
Im in a similar boat never read the comics personally but loved the X-Men cartoon and know enough about the comics to Know while the X-Men the last stand and dark phoenix are not bad movies but to anyone who knows the Phoenix story from the comics or even the cartoon which did a decent job can say without a doubt that both the movies were hollow attempts at giving us the story fans wanted...
I think what hurts even more is that I feel like so many other shows, or at least a fair number of them, have shown special effects that would SO EASILY have been repurposed to show an actually GOOD set of Phoenix VFX. How can fox NOT get it right 2 different times?
Dark Phoenix wasn't perfect at all but numbers don't lie. I actually enjoyed this movie very much especially on the big screen. It's not the best film out of the series but it's pretty good imo
Keep in mind most of us judge this movie based on the Dark Phoenix saga from the comics... This is definitely better than last stand but it's still not as good as the comic.

Nothing they watched so far pre deadpool had any accuracy to the quintessential characters. I dont expect them to have the perspective of someone who has deep knowledge of these characters.

In the Comic Books, Jean is an enormously powerful Telekinetic /Telepath. As a Telepath, she has more raw power than Charles Xavier, but less skill. As a Telekinetic, she can create shields that can withstand Iron Man's blasts. She can attack or defend telekinetically /Telepathically at the same time. This is without being bonded to the Phoenix Force -what was called a solar flare. The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the greatest storylines in X men history, and it has been botched. They have not done justice to it. In the Comics, the power drives Jean crazy (actually the Hellfire Club drives her over the edge) Jean defeats the X Men -easily. She flies in to space and creates a Stargate, teleporting herself millions of light years away. Hungry, she feeds on a Star which goes Nova, a planet orbiting the Star is destroyed along with 4 billion aliens living on it. It means nothing to her. The X MEN animated series tried to do the Story, but still failed.
The story is just too convoluted. I think it failed in the comic book medium too. Comic book fans just have no standards, until someone adapts then they have standards.

Yea I rewatched a little just for fun, if nothing else the opening two episodes give you the vibe... Yeah Rogue with her correct power abilities in the cartoons. The series had good voice acting and followed along with some of the comics story lines to the best of their abilities
There is so much history and comic book knowledge you need to know about the Phoenix Force it's too much to get into right now but here's my own simplified dumb take on it. Think of the Phoenix Force as a door on the other side of the door is power knowledge a new world doesn't matter. Jean grey was the key made specifically for the Phoenix Force door. There are other ways besides the Pacific key for that door. You can pick the lock. So think of the alien woman in this movie at the lockpick who knows knowledge about the Phoenix Force and despite her not being made for her knowledge of it prepares her body for it. The door can be kicked down by someone more powerful. there are other entrances into the structure where the Phoenix Force door resides windows and a back door. Which means other people can handle the Phoenix force despite them not being made for that pacific reason. Like wolverine due to his healing ability with a show in X-Men last stand. Logan would be a window to the Phoenix Force because he can handle the damage to Phoenix force will do to your body.
6:15 did anyone else not noticed how Jean had no space suit and was breathing perfectly fine in space? The body wouldn’t be able to do that not unless her mutant powers allows her to breathe 10:20 the light particles in the sky is Dazzler voice turning sound into light she’s very powerful but I believe she is now currently a level 5 omega mutant but it’s sad because she wasn’t apart of the X-Men team until later on but they don’t show it on any of the X-Men movies which is sad. She has the power of turning sound to light, flight, light beams and other more
Although this movie is not as good as some of the better X-Men movies, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Of course I'm biased because Nightcrawler gets to show off for once, my favorite Marvel character. I also love the scene with Magneto and Jean having a tug of war with the helicopter. The reason why X men films have issues is mostly because people hate Fox. A lot of times they criticize the films forgetting that Fox has put out multiple X men films that were great, X2, Xmen First Class, DOFP, Logan, and DP, for example. DP 2, The Wolverine, and the 1st X men were good films. Some of the complaints comes from fans upset that the movies aren't as aligned with the comics, all the while forgetting that the MCU has messed up so much stuff with Marvel characters and history, including the characterization of Iron Man.

I loved Dark Phoenix and saw it multiple times at the theatre. I was not one those sour pusses who just jumped on the complaining bandwagon. XMEN is my favorite series; I love the characters and unique story lines. I enjoyed all the XMEN movies because I was entertained in different ways by all of them. I cannot imagine what it took to make such epic movies. The cartoons or comics are not important to me; I just like the premise. It is laughable to read some of the negative comments from the purists who over analyze the movie. It like they have lost the ability to enjoy any movie which is quite sad. I give you guys so much credit for watching the movies for yourself and give your own honest opinion without pandering to the comments or subcribers. This is what makes your channel great. I love how you were like the comic books are important at all to me. They may not be important to you but how in the world would they have made the movie if the comic books didn't exist. The source material comes from the comic books. That is the actual storyline you like. So everything you just said does not make any sense. The people that were upset just wanted them to execute it. People have read these comic books for decades and would love to see a movie adaptation. So when it's not done very well, it makes some people upset because it's one of their favorite comic books and they were looking forward to it. I love how you talked about having the right to have their own opinion but people being upset don't have the right to have their own opinion. you're a hypocrite and you know the source material so you don't get to say how someone gets the feel.

Alpha and Omega, life and death, destruction and creation, the beginning and the end. I've never understood the whole yin yang because the Phoenix Force doesn't represent just order.

This was the last X-Men movie made by 20th Century Fox, now that Disney bought the company and the X-Men are finally with Marvel, they're gonna eventually reboot them into the MCU
Issue #3 they never tell us WHO the aliens are. People speculate but ya know there's at least 60 years of comics and characters to pull from for the X-Men and they were lazy!!!
I like this movie. If I had one piece of advice to give to anyone when watching new films. It would be to never listen to what anyone else has to say. Good or bad. Judge for yourselves. You can take recommendations sure but don’t assume you will like it too. I liked this. Other people don’t. From that you can tell it’s entirely subjective if you didn’t already know. Which a lot of people seem not to these days. With statements like “this movie blows”. Like their opinion is factual and means more than anyone else’s. Also, I personally think too many people compare these films to the comics and/or cartoons. I also liked them. Grew up with them. But if I get upset at every difference, I would simply read the comics and watch the cartoons again and wouldn’t even bother watching these films. I’m sorry but imo you’d have to be pretty stupid to think the films were going to be identical. Of course this is all my opinion. You don’t have to like or listen to it. Everyone has the right to their opinion. Just don’t sate it like a fact. Part of the reason I love Quentin Tarantino is that he gives everything a chance. He watches the so called “worst” b movies that get like a 1.5 on IMDB. If only more people could be like that. There’s too much snobbery when it comes to film and tv these days. I’m not saying people have to like everything but if you don’t personally like something. Why does that automatically make it shit. Are you the one who decides what is good and what’s bad? Worst part is, most of these people aren’t even payed movie critics. They’re just people with nothing better to do than trash a film that they didn’t like. The way I look at it is they’ve already wasted the time it took to watch the film. Now they’re wasting more time telling people how crap they think it is.
So many things wrong with this movie. But it does give you the opportunity to compare Jean with Captain Marvel, and see the trope of ultimate power. It's much better to have stories where the heroes have limitations, IMO. So many "street level" heroes in the comics, and so few movies based on them.
This film may be a good film, but it still could be the worst in the X-men series. reason is people love to hate. Mostly is gets a bad rap, is people love to hate. Also they completely Destroyed the Dark Phoenix Storyline. They seem to ignore character abilities. Raven has been Stabbed by Wolverine in the first film, has been Stabbed, Shot numerous times. She has the ability to move her organs. It is generally a good film, but I'd say it is on the same level as The Wolverine and Logan. Now, a bad Superhero Film is Green Lantern.
Mutants were signfiicantly more powerful but much fewer in number. And there's enough advanced technology along with the numerical advantage, to give humans the edge in any all-out war.

I love this movie and I will fight for it as much as I can. It was definitely comprised by the studio and the Disney buy out but overall I feel the passion on what the filmmaker was wanting to do. Create a more serious X-men epic.

This movie was supposed to be so much more than it was. Unpopular opinion, but Disney has ruined comic book films. We’re never getting cool shot like V For Vendetta ever again. Now everything has to be brightly colored and crammed full of family friendly jokes.
People got mad with this movie cause after Disney bought Fox, the marketing was about this movie would bring conclusion to all X-Men Saga. So people expected some Endgame type of movie. Also its not your classical average superhero movie as it explores some dark places. I mean, there aren't a lot of superhero movies where the main character cries that much. People are too used to Marvel formula to let movies like Dark Phoenix a chance.
It's a cute movie. It's not unbearable or anything like that But since you asked and I'm rained out of my garden today.... First of all I shouldn't talk either I also don't read comics but I've heard a couple things about a couple things So... The Movie: Like two hours maybe, girl gets some powers, something something you're a god now but as far as the audience can tell you sorta shoot some beams or whatever, k that's fun, bunch of side drama to build a full plot out of nothing since they're not just ripping the comic off so they need some obligatory b plot something something we're finally bringing up x-MEN except it's so casual and throwaway that it will only frustrate lonely men something something who cares movie filler, some dudes show up, they were written as skrulls which is even dumber but these are just some dudes so while I'll buy it it's also just like ... okay..? Whatever..? blah blah bad guy, they can't be stopped why who knows who cares they're plot devices, basically the whole movie is Jean saying "I can't control it" and the whole dark phoenix drama boils down to an alien walking up to a girl with powers and saying "gimme" so the girl says "lul hfgl" and the alien gets blown up but now Jean is well, a satellite ...okay, seems like a pretty rushed and shallow "people with powers" movie, but it's fun if you let it and the actors are fun and there's some feels and whatever whatever it's cute The comics: Again I'm not gonna do it justice I don't know the full story but here's a few things I have heard: lowkey a whole saga even the animated series knew to give this story four episodes instead of just one the equivalent of just doing one movie, a girl gets some powers, something something you're a god now except you're not full bonded full power yet, let's assume a bunch of side drama happens, the whole thing features characters we've known about for a long time I mean maybe a few new ones were introduced but the point is not only is a lot of the drama happening between the x-men who we care about and want to get along but also there's not just a "ooh also there's this bad guy who knows who cares do stop it tho" conflict but rather a conflict between characters like Jason Wyngarde aka Mastermind who has specific and defined abilities instead of just "obligatory seemingly OP bad guy who end up getting unalived in one hit 'cuz oops you're the bad guy" and who weaves his way into the story with manipulation and cunning, the conflict is thought provoking rather than just "ooh mystery bad guy too strong, wait not really" it's about trickery and who knows what and what happens when this comes out etc etc, the conflict from the movie of "I can't control it, here, you have it, lul" in the comics is instead something like "not only can Jean not control the power of the Phoenix, but this is also The Phoenix Force's first time feeling emotions such that there is BOTH 1. a human with powers it can't control AND 2. a cosmic power with emotions it can't control", that's a thoughtful addition AND a super ominous and threatening idea a godly power feeling emotions it can't control for the first time, that's so much cooler than "lul I can't control it, lul you can't either, lul I win except only kinda 'cuz I'm a satellite now" to further double down and say The Phoenix Force is feeling things it doesn't understand too, for the force itself to actually be FEELING the grief of loosing a loved one for the first time via Jean and the Force ITSELF ALSO "not knowing what to do", that's SUCH a punch up except oops it came first and the movies just CHOSE to not include that it's literally just a line of dialogue they could have thrown in it's not a time nor budget nor practicality concern they just CHOSE not to include those ideas, anyway so then this creature, JeanPhoenix aka currently becoming Dark Phoenix, doesn't just go "ooh how dare you do this here have my power oops you can't take it kbai", no, she grabs the dude who caused the d3ath of the one she loved and GAVE HIM TEMPORARY COSMIC AWARENESS literally making him see and know the entire cosmos at once to see and know everything the burden of the knowledge of godhood on a mortal mind, and basically rots the dudes brain out or whatever, in the movie she said "here, have power, oops too much" in the comics she said "you want my power...? You couldn't even handle the knowledge that comes with it" and then proved it to him by turning him into a vegetable through sheer knowledge, like, I know I don't need to be asked which one is cooler, "haha power overload big bad strong wasn't strong enough" or the cosmic horror of omniscience I'm not a child obviously the more thought provoking one [especially considering it still rotted him so you still get you hxc moment], so anyway I've been trying to type these two in rough parallel, they both start off with time, "girl gets powers" blah blah b plot cut to the good stuff, except in the movie version this is where I stopped because the movie is over Jean is a satellite and nothing to do now but type up a summary about how it's a cute movie and it's fine. Right well we're in the comics version now and we just did the "here, take it" part and now the movie ends OOPS the comics version of this story is only now like half way done, the "here take my powers" thing didn't overload the cosmic force THAT WAS GIVING IT OUT and turn it into a satellite to chill out for a while xD ....bruh, it's no question no contest. This movie version of this story is an incredibly, honestly borderline insulting, waste of potential. ..I mean really, the CHOICE the active CHOICE to not even MENTION the idea that the Phoenix Force is also feeling emotions for the first time and that's contributing to the outbursts of power because not only can Jean not control the power she's feeling for the first time but the Force can't control the existential grief that IT'S feeling for the first time, like, the CHOICE to not include that idea when all they had to do was have somebody just SAY IT ONCE, it would only take a few seconds, like..... It's like.... Did you guys even like the original story...? I don't read comics, I haven't read the comic, even I think that part is a really cool bit of writing and an insane thing to not include. ....why would they not include that.........? Did they even want to adapt the story or did they just want to mash "powers go brr" with "no, look, it's that thing you like!" until money came out.............? THERE ISN'T EVEN ANY DARK PHOENIX, Dark Phoenix has her own suit, she's an actual character who does things once she "comes out", in the movies she just keeps THREATENING to come out except the second she kinda does she's a good guy again and the movie is over. Again, after this point in the comics there's still more story where we actually get Dark Phoenix. We didn't even get her in the movies. We just got Jean saying "It's about to come out" for two hours except it only came out for a second at the end and then that was ... too much for it...? So she's a satellite now. Bruh, in the comics she actually comes out and does things, like, it's a cosmic story, extra-planetary forces get involved, Gladiator shows up it's a whole thing. In the movie she flew into space for a second and couldn't handle letting out her own power so now she's a satellite. NO Dark Phoenix, just threats of her No contest It's cute It just would have been better if they did the "powers go brr" movie for a story that wasn't one of the biggest comic stories of all time

Issue #4 Charles is a dick and very out of character from previous movies. Issue #5 The aliens powers INCONSISTENT! Issue #6 this was way rushed and could have been 2 good movies. Ok done.

Charles has telepathy. No telekinesis. He cannot move objects not even himself. So no he can’t make himself walk. Jean has both. Therefore she can fly. Lifting herself. As the Phoenix there’s not much Jean or anyone inhabited by the Phoenix. Jean Grey has always been the perfect vehicle for the Phoenix. Add Scott’s genetics & anyone born or made from their genes is also attractive to the Phoenix Force.

A lot of people complain about this movie but I liked it a lot! Given that they only had one movie to make it happen I think they did a decent job. My only two complaints would be they did a terrible job explaining what the Phoenix force is. A lot of people still think it's a solar flare. I also wish I had a better villain. It's really hard to show her true extent of her power when she's going up against shape-shifting aliens. She should have gone up against Galactus or a celestial.
If cinematic X-men had even come close to the John Byrne/ Chris Claremont/terry Austin era of the late 80s, it would easily have been considered on par with the avengers multi movie epic.
This was my least liked XMen movie, since I was expecting Magneto's place Genosha to be a majestic place, but here it looks like a junk yard of refugees. And also they broke canon the most and made this one like a standalone separated from the other movies. Among other things too, I understood they have to reshoot like half the movie cos the original script was planning to make another trilogy and look too similar to Captain Marvel. So I understand why it wasn't what I expected, but still overall, it's my least liked.
The similarities shouldn't have mattered since this isn't part of the MCU at all. But of course Disney/Marvel has to be stupidly stingy for dumb reasons just like DC/WB.

Mystique only had two lovers. Almost always they were on opposite sides. Not this movie. Beast & Magneto teaming up to kill Jean- that’s a plot they could of stretched for a half hour more
I've always enjoyed the bigger storyline & involvement with Beast in this one and it took the Deadpool movies to give us more with Colossus. I hope the MCU does good w/ 'em.
Howdy neighbors! Yeah, I felt this one was ok. To me it just didn't have a great story...they had much batter routes to take with Jean and the Phoenix saga. But worth the watch at least once.
I remember being irritated by this movie originally. Now? It’s got a lot of neat stuff going on. Part of liking it is throwing away expectations of linearity with the others.

Its a decent movie but far off course on what the Dark Phoenix saga is about, but better than Last Stand's failed, feeble attempt. At least this movie got it right with Jean absorbing the Phoenix Force in space on a shuttle. And taking a step back to X-Men Apocalypse, Jean shouldn't have been able to destroy Apocalypse like she did, she didn't have the Phoenix Force yet. One very big plus to this movie is the score. Hans Zimmer is a god when it comes to soundtracks. This soundtrack is perfection, just like Blade Runner 2049. Y'all should give the 90s cartoons a viewing, you'll like them if you liked the movies. The cartoons come close to following some of the major story lines from the comics
The place where Magneto was the leader of the community in the movie is Genosha. Genosha is an island where it's a country only for mutants to live in where they can live with safety without humans constantly threatening them and Magneto is the Supreme Leader of this mutant country of Genosha
I never noticed when I first saw it, but you see Dazzler at the party right before Jean lost it the 1st time. That's an OG character 😎. AWESOME show there Octobers Keep up the terrific work.
Issued #2 (these are all my issues so yeah) Jennifer Lawrence. Took the role of Mystique then got pissy about the makeup and that's why she was barely in it the last movie and only agreed to this movie if they killed her off early in the movie. #WASTE
To be fair to her, the makeup process was several hours long and the makeup itself uncomfortable over long periods of time. She agreed to this one if she would wear the makeup less and not have to deal with it as much. Being killed off had nothing to do with it.
She used the Phoenix Force to defeat Apocalypse in the last movie, so her being introduced to the Phoenix Force in this movie doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
Octobers, Jean is not normally a Clash 5 from what I know, shes really powerful like a 3 or 4, but its the fire entity or pheonix that entered her body and gives her more power over a class 5 level. But normally she can read minds and move stuff like magneto. Now comics and movies love changing things so correct me if im wrong in the comments but she wasnt that powerful in comics before the pheonix saga
Thats not true actually. First of all in the comics the classification goes with the letters of the Greek Alphabet so we have Beta level, Alpha Level etc, with Omega being the strongest and alpha second etc. Jean was the first to be classified as an Omega level mutant and it had nothing to do with the Phoenix Force. With the inclusion of the Phoenix shes like way above the average "human" (or mutant etc) hero levels. As years went on more and more mutants started being Identified as "Omega" some for feats theyve already shown, and others for their potential. Generally while it used to be something they first used to distinctly separate her from everyone else thats not the case anymore and its a classification for the very strong ones.

If someone was weak and tried to absorb it, they would’ve disintegrated and died from it because they weren’t powerful enough for it, like how Vuk tried to absorb it in this movie, but her body was destroyed and she died because she wasn’t on Jean’s level

They still could have used Skrulls since this isn't part of the MCU at all, but I guess they didn't think of that.

Jean is powerful but the other movies made it seem like she was born with the Phoenix force when that's not true. Jean is an omega level mutant, but she's not the most powerful mutant not even close actually. Jean isn't even the most powerful X-Men. Her actual powers are telekinesis and telepathy, and she's only an omega level telepath. Her son is actually more powerful than she is, Nate Grey. Anyone with the Phoenix force is this powerful. It goes toward people who are telepaths because it amplifies the Phoenix force's powers. And there have been telepaths that have had the powers of the Phoenix force and been just as powerful as her, Quentin Quire is an example. Crazy enough one of the most powerful users of the Phoenix is actually Logan. So I don't know why these movies keep doing this but everything that they are telling people is wrong.
She's also an omega level telekinetic.
Just goes to show you should always create your own opinions and enjoy what you enjoy. I LOVED Apocalypse and it gets a ton of hate. I've never been a comic book reader but only because I'm visually impaired and couldn't read the print, but because I didn't enjoy the content.

Dark Phoenix wasn't perfect at all but numbers don't lie. I actually enjoyed this movie very much especially on the big screen. It's not the best film out of the series but it's pretty good imo

In the Comic Books, Jean is an enormously powerful Telekinetic /Telepath. As a Telepath, she has more raw power than Charles Xavier, but less skill. As a Telekinetic, she can create shields that can withstand Iron Man's blasts. She can attack or defend telekinetically /Telepathically at the same time. This is without being bonded to the Phoenix Force -what was called a solar flare. The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the greatest storylines in X men history, and it has been botched. They have not done justice to it. In the Comics, the power drives Jean crazy (actually the Hellfire Club drives her over the edge) Jean defeats the X Men -easily. She flies in to space and creates a Stargate, teleporting herself millions of light years away. Hungry, she feeds on a Star which goes Nova, a planet orbiting the Star is destroyed along with 4 billion aliens living on it. It means nothing to her. The X MEN animated series tried to do the Story, but still failed.
The story is just too convoluted. I think it failed in the comic book medium too. Comic book fans just have no standards, until someone adapts then they have standards.
As a telekinetic she can take more than just iron man blast…

Yeah Rogue with her correct power abilities in the cartoons. The series had good voice acting and followed along with some of the comics story lines to the best of their abilities
There is so much history and comic book knowledge you need to know about the Phoenix Force it's too much to get into right now but here's my own simplified dumb take on it. Think of the Phoenix Force as a door on the other side of the door is power knowledge a new world doesn't matter. Jean grey was the key made specifically for the Phoenix Force door. There are other ways besides the Pacific key for that door. You can pick the lock. So think of the alien woman in this movie at the lockpick who knows knowledge about the Phoenix Force and despite her not being made for her knowledge of it prepares her body for it. The door can be kicked down by someone more powerful. there are other entrances into the structure where the Phoenix Force door resides windows and a back door. Which means other people can handle the Phoenix force despite them not being made for that pacific reason. Like wolverine due to his healing ability with a show in X-Men last stand. Logan would be a window to the Phoenix Force because he can handle the damage to Phoenix force will do to your body.
6:15 did anyone else not noticed how Jean had no space suit and was breathing perfectly fine in space? The body wouldn’t be able to do that not unless her mutant powers allows her to breathe 10:20 the light particles in the sky is Dazzler voice turning sound into light she’s very powerful but I believe she is now currently a level 5 omega mutant but it’s sad because she wasn’t apart of the X-Men team until later on but they don’t show it on any of the X-Men movies which is sad. Unpopular opinion despite the facts the movie felt all over the place i think this was the best action we had in an xmen movie
Although this movie is not as good as some of the better X-Men movies, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Of course I'm biased because Nightcrawler gets to show off for once, my favorite Marvel character. I also love the scene with Magneto and Jean having a tug of war with the helicopter. The reason why X men films have issues is mostly because people hate Fox. A lot of times they criticize the films forgetting that Fox has put out multiple X men films that were great, X2, Xmen First Class, DOFP, Logan, and DP, for example. DP 2, The Wolverine, and the 1st X men were good films. Some of the complaints comes from fans upset that the movies aren't as aligned with the comics, all the while forgetting that the MCU has messed up so much stuff with Marvel characters and history, including the characterization of Iron Man.

I loved Dark Phoenix and saw it multiple times at the theatre. I was not one those sour pusses who just jumped on the complaining bandwagon. XMEN is my favorite series; I love the characters and unique story lines. I enjoyed all the XMEN movies because I was entertained in different ways by all of them. I cannot imagine what it took to make such epic movies. The cartoons or comics are not important to me; I just like the premise. It is laughable to read some of the negative comments from the purists who over analyze the movie. It like they have lost the ability to enjoy any movie which is quite sad. I give you guys so much credit for watching the movies for yourself and give your own honest opinion without pandering to the comments or subcribers. This is what makes your channel great. I expect this channel to have continued growth. Thank you guys!

I love how you were like the comic books are important at all to me. They may not be important to you but how in the world would they have made the movie if the comic books didn't exist. The source material comes from the comic books. That is the actual storyline you like. So everything you just said does not make any sense. The people that were upset just wanted them to execute it. People have read these comic books for decades and would love to see a movie adaptation. So when it's not done very well, it makes some people upset because it's one of their favorite comic books and they were looking forward to it. Issue #3 they never tell us WHO the aliens are. People speculate but ya know there's at least 60 years of comics and characters to pull from for the X-Men and they were lazy!!!

I like this movie. If I had one piece of advice to give to anyone when watching new films. It would be to never listen to what anyone else has to say. Good or bad. Judge for yourselves. You can take recommendations sure but don’t assume you will like it too. I liked this. Other people don’t. From that you can tell it’s entirely subjective if you didn’t already know. Which a lot of people seem not to these days. With statements like “this movie blows”. Like their opinion is factual and means more than anyone else’s.
Also, I personally think too many people compare these films to the comics and/or cartoons. I also liked them. Grew up with them. But if I get upset at every difference, I would simply read the comics and watch the cartoons again and wouldn’t even bother watching these films. I’m sorry but imo you’d have to be pretty stupid to think the films were going to be identical.
Of course this is all my opinion. You don’t have to like or listen to it. Everyone has the right to their opinion. Just don’t sate it like a fact.
Part of the reason I love Quentin Tarantino is that he gives everything a chance. He watches the so called “worst” b movies that get like a 1.5 on IMDB. If only more people could be like that. There’s too much snobbery when it comes to film and tv these days. I’m not saying people have to like everything but if you don’t personally like something. Why does that automatically make it shit. Are you the one who decides what is good and what’s bad? Worst part is, most of these people aren’t even payed movie critics. They’re just people with nothing better to do than trash a film that they didn’t like. The way I look at it is they’ve already wasted the time it took to watch the film. Now they’re wasting more time telling people how crap they think it is.
So many things wrong with this movie. But it does give you the opportunity to compare Jean with Captain Marvel, and see the trope of ultimate power. It's much better to have stories where the heroes have limitations, IMO. So many "street level" heroes in the comics, and so few movies based on them.
This film may be a good film, but it still could be the worst in the X-men series. reason is people love to hate. Mostly is gets a bad rap, is people love to hate. Also they completely Destroyed the Dark Phoenix Storyline. They seem to ignore character abilities. Raven has been Stabbed by Wolverine in the first film, has been Stabbed, Shot numerous times. She has the ability to move her organs. It is generally a good film, but I'd say it is on the same level as The Wolverine and Logan.
Now, a bad Superhero Film is Green Lantern.

Whatever..? blah blah bad guy, they can't be stopped why who knows who cares they're plot devices, basically the whole movie is Jean saying "I can't control it" and the whole dark phoenix drama boils down to an alien walking up to a girl with powers and saying "gimme" so the girl says "lul hfgl" and the alien gets blown up but now Jean is well, a satellite
...okay, seems like a pretty rushed and shallow "people with powers" movie, but it's fun if you let it and the actors are fun and there's some feels and whatever whatever it's cute
The comics: Again I'm not gonna do it justice I don't know the full story but here's a few things I have heard: lowkey a whole saga even the animated series knew to give this story four episodes instead of just one the equivalent of just doing one movie, a girl gets some powers, something something you're a god now except you're not full bonded full power yet, let's assume a bunch of side drama happens, the whole thing features characters we've known about for a long time I mean maybe a few new ones were introduced but the point is not only is a lot of the drama happening between the x-men who we care about and want to get along but also there's not just a "ooh also there's this bad guy who knows who cares do stop it tho" conflict but rather a conflict between characters like Jason Wyngarde aka Mastermind who has specific and defined abilities instead of just "obligatory seemingly OP bad guy who end up getting unalived in one hit 'cuz oops you're the bad guy" and who weaves his way into the story with manipulation and cunning, the conflict is thought provoking rather than just "ooh mystery bad guy too strong, wait not really" it's about trickery and who knows what and what happens when this comes out etc etc, the conflict from the movie of "I can't control it, here, you have it, lul" in the comics is instead something like "not only can Jean not control the power of the Phoenix, but this is also The Phoenix Force's first time feeling emotions such that there is BOTH 1. a human with powers it can't control AND 2. a cosmic power with emotions it can't control", that's a thoughtful addition AND a super ominous and threatening idea a godly power feeling emotions it can't control for the first time, that's so much cooler than "lul I can't control it, lul you can't either, lul I win except only kinda 'cuz I'm a satellite now" to further double down and say The Phoenix Force is feeling things it doesn't understand too, for the force itself to actually be FEELING the grief of loosing a loved one for the first time via Jean and the Force ITSELF ALSO "not knowing what to do", that's SUCH a punch up except oops it came first and the movies just CHOSE to not include that it's literally just a line of dialogue they could have thrown in it's not a time nor budget nor practicality concern they just CHOSE not to include those ideas, anyway so then this creature, JeanPhoenix aka currently becoming Dark Phoenix, doesn't just go "ooh how dare you do this here have my power oops you can't take it kbai", no, she grabs the dude who caused the d3ath of the one she loved and GAVE HIM TEMPORARY COSMIC AWARENESS literally making him see and know the entire cosmos at once to see and know everything the burden of the knowledge of godhood on a mortal mind, and basically rots the dudes brain out or whatever, in the movie she said "here, have power, oops too much" in the comics she said "you want my power...? You couldn't even handle the knowledge that comes with it" and then proved it to him by turning him into a vegetable through sheer knowledge, like, I know I don't need to be asked which one is cooler, "haha power overload big bad strong wasn't strong enough" or the cosmic horror of omniscience I'm not a child obviously the more thought provoking one [especially considering it still rotted him so you still get you hxc moment], so anyway I've been trying to type these two in rough parallel, they both start off with time, "girl gets powers" blah blah b plot cut to the good stuff, except in the movie version this is where I stopped because the movie is over Jean is a satellite and nothing to do now but type up a summary about how it's a cute movie and it's fine. Right well we're in the comics version now and we just did the "here, take it" part and now the movie ends OOPS the comics version of this story is only now like half way done, the "here take my powers" thing didn't overload the cosmic force THAT WAS GIVING IT OUT and turn it into a satellite to chill out for a while xD ....bruh, it's no question no contest. This movie version of this story is an incredibly, honestly borderline insulting, waste of potential. ..I mean really, the CHOICE the active CHOICE to not even MENTION the idea that the Phoenix Force is also feeling emotions for the first time and that's contributing to the outbursts of power because not only can Jean not control the power she's feeling for the first time but the Force can't control the existential grief that IT'S feeling for the first time, like, the CHOICE to not include that idea when all they had to do was have somebody just SAY IT ONCE, it would only take a few seconds, like..... It's like.... Did you guys even like the original story...? I don't read comics, I haven't read the comic, even I think that part is a really cool bit of writing and an insane thing to not include. ....why would they not include that.........? Did they even want to adapt the story or did they just want to mash "powers go brr" with "no, look, it's that thing you like!" until money came out.............?
THERE ISN'T EVEN ANY DARK PHOENIX, Dark Phoenix has her own suit, she's an actual character who does things once she "comes out", in the movies she just keeps THREATENING to come out except the second she kinda does she's a good guy again and the movie is over. Again, after this point in the comics there's still more story where we actually get Dark Phoenix. We didn't even get her in the movies. We just got Jean saying "It's about to come out" for two hours except it only came out for a second at the end and then that was ... too much for it...? So she's a satellite now. Bruh, in the comics she actually comes out and does things, like, it's a cosmic story, extra-planetary forces get involved, Gladiator shows up it's a whole thing. In the movie she flew into space for a second and couldn't handle letting out her own power so now she's a satellite. NO Dark Phoenix, just threats of her

The reason why us comic book fans are not particularly fond of this movie and the less than or last stand from the original trilogy is because they both wasted the Phoenix storyline and reduced it to one measly film, the Phoenix is one of the most powerful mutants in all of comic book lore, Plus this specific film had some pretty corny moments, like one mystique is bitching about the team should be called x-women like there are no other male mutants like for example Cyclops, beast, Kurt, Quicksilver, etc
Issue #4 Charles is a dick and very out of character from previous movies. Issue #5 The aliens powers INCONSISTENT! Issue #6 this was way rushed and could have been 2 good movies. Ok done.

Charles has telepathy. No telekinesis. He cannot move objects not even himself. So no he can’t make himself walk. Jean has both. Therefore she can fly. Lifting herself. As the Phoenix there’s not much Jean or anyone inhabited by the Phoenix. Jean Grey has always been the perfect vehicle for the Phoenix. Add Scott’s genetics & anyone born or made from their genes is also attractive to the Phoenix Force.

A lot of people complain about this movie but I liked it a lot! Given that they only had one movie to make it happen I think they did a decent job. My only two complaints would be they did a terrible job explaining what the Phoenix force is. A lot of people still think it's a solar flare. I also wish I had a better villain. It's really hard to show her true extent of her power when she's going up against shape-shifting aliens. She should have gone up against Galactus or a celestial.
If cinematic X-men had even come close to the John Byrne/ Chris Claremont/terry Austin era of the late 80s, it would easily have been considered on par with the avengers multi movie epic.

This was my least liked XMen movie, since I was expecting Magneto's place Genosha to be a majestic place, but here it looks like a junk yard of refugees. And also they broke canon the most and made this one like a standalone separated from the other movies. Among other things too, I understood they have to reshoot like half the movie cos the original script was planning to make another trilogy and look too similar to Captain Marvel. So I understand why it wasn't what I expected, but still overall, it's my least liked.
The similarities shouldn't have mattered since this isn't part of the MCU at all. But of course Disney/Marvel has to be stupidly stingy for dumb reasons just like DC/WB.

I don't think this movie is as bad as people say it is, but I think it's still incredibly wasted potential. They made a lot of choices that just have me go "Huh?", but overall, I think this is still decent entertainment.
Mystique only had two lovers. Almost always they were on opposite sides. Not this movie. Beast & Magneto teaming up to kill Jean- that’s a plot they could of stretched for a half hour more
I've always enjoyed the bigger storyline & involvement with Beast in this one and it took the Deadpool movies to give us more with Colossus. I hope the MCU does good w/ 'em.
Howdy neighbors! Yeah, I felt this one was ok. To me it just didn't have a great story...they had much batter routes to take with Jean and the Phoenix saga. But worth the watch at least once.
I remember being irritated by this movie originally. Now? It’s got a lot of neat stuff going on. Part of liking it is throwing away expectations of linearity with the others.
Beside that the Aliens were originally supposed to be skrulls but they had to change do to Disney buying Fox this movie originally was also going to be the start of a new trilogy focus on the Phoenix saga and they had to change the movie entirely. The movie is still good for what it was

Its a decent movie but far off course on what the Dark Phoenix saga is about, but better than Last Stand's failed, feeble attempt. At least this movie got it right with Jean absorbing the Phoenix Force in space on a shuttle. And taking a step back to X-Men Apocalypse, Jean shouldn't have been able to destroy Apocalypse like she did, she didn't have the Phoenix Force yet. One very big plus to this movie is the score. Hans Zimmer is a god when it comes to soundtracks. This soundtrack is perfection, just like Blade Runner 2049. Y'all should give the 90s cartoons a viewing, you'll like them if you liked the movies. The cartoons come close to following some of the major story lines from the comics
It's a new version of the Phoenix story so it shouldn't matter if it replicates the comics or not.
The place where Magneto was the leader of the community in the movie is Genosha. Genosha is an island where it's a country only for mutants to live in where they can live with safety without humans constantly threatening them and Magneto is the Supreme Leader of this mutant country of Genosha

Issued #2 (these are all my issues so yeah) Jennifer Lawrence. Took the role of Mystique then got pissy about the makeup and that's why she was barely in it the last movie and only agreed to this movie if they killed her off early in the movie. #WASTE
To be fair to her, the makeup process was several hours long and the makeup itself uncomfortable over long periods of time. She agreed to this one if she would wear the makeup less and not have to deal with it as much. Being killed off had nothing to do with it.
She used the Phoenix Force to defeat Apocalypse in the last movie, so her being introduced to the Phoenix Force in this movie doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
she didn't have the phoenix in Apocolypse, that was own power. They shouldn't have used a bird form tho.

Octobers, Jean is not normally a Clash 5 from what I know, shes really powerful like a 3 or 4, but its the fire entity or pheonix that entered her body and gives her more power over a class 5 level. But normally she can read minds and move stuff like magneto.
Now comics and movies love changing things so correct me if im wrong in the comments but she wasnt that powerful in comics before the pheonix saga
Thats not true actually. First of all in the comics the classification goes with the letters of the Greek Alphabet so we have Beta level, Alpha Level etc, with Omega being the strongest and alpha second etc. Jean was the first to be classified as an Omega level mutant and it had nothing to do with the Phoenix Force. With the inclusion of the Phoenix shes like way above the average "human" (or mutant etc) hero levels. As years went on more and more mutants started being Identified as "Omega" some for feats theyve already shown, and others for their potential. Generally while it used to be something they first used to distinctly separate her from everyone else thats not the case anymore and its a classification for the very strong ones.

If someone was weak and tried to absorb it, they would’ve disintegrated and died from it because they weren’t powerful enough for it, like how Vuk tried to absorb it in this movie, but her body was destroyed and she died because she wasn’t on Jean’s level
