      I thought I would try to answer your question about many people not wanting mutants to be labeled as dangerous in advance because of their abilities, first let me address what mutants reflect in society and it is they who are different in society than what others think it is normal, before people of color were treated differently because of their skin color and were feared and hated by whites because they looked different, then you have homosexuals who were feared by society and some believed that homosexuals were contagious and many in religion considered them to be of the devil offspring to destroy society, another group is persons who are mentally ill and these were locked up because it was the best to keep them away from the general public and they were forcibly sterilized mentally ill even before.
      All of these that I wrote as examples were previously seen as a threat to society before but as today there are many who do not see them as such just because they are different than what is considered to be the norm in society, so mutants have abilities that make them different , abilities that make many distrust them and make some people think that using violence whether it be physical or psychological is their "right" because they are not like everyone else, so for me it is that everyone should have the same right in society but if you are forced to be registered, you put a target on their backs like the Nazis did in Germany against Jews and that is someone I personally would not want to see.

    Fun fact, when Magneto puts the rebar in Wolverine, it mimics the comic when Magneto literally pulled the adamantium out of his body, leaving him vulnerable and stationary. It was pretty brutal in the comic.

    The Rogue Cut was an extended edition in that it added back scenes that were shot but not included in the theatrical release. In the theatrical release, all the scenes that had Rogue other then Rogue and Bobby in the altered future did not exist. In the theatrical cut, Kitty Pryde was still injured by Wolverine, but managed to hold out until the timeline changed. The X-Men never went on the mission to the X-Mansion to rescue Rogue (she wasn't even mentioned at all). It was weird in that the production made a big deal of Anna Paquin returning to the role when the movie was in production, but when it came out in theaters she had a three second cameo at the very end.

    Rogue works in the comics. She is a top class Mutant, the reason she is cut from these films more often than not is because her power is simply too strong to just be around all the time, you'd have to be explaining "why dont we just have rogue steal "X" power and do "Y"

      Plus, potentially a visual effects nightmare cost-wise... if you have a couple people with expensive powers (due to CGI or whatever), with Rogue, suddenly it's like you've doubled the onscreen time of those abilities... Either that or Rogue isn't doing anything in the script.

    Its sort of ironic that this film touched on the whole 'human' emotion / concept of hope. The original comic series has existed for decades on that same topic. Its still a common theme, especially considering the humane notion for all in the X-verse.

  • @Uatu-the-Watcher
    @Uatu-the-Watcher 6 месяцев назад +4

    That argument makes sense.
    The tendency to make selfish choices or misuse dangerous power is shared among humans and mutants. Neither mutants or humans have a monopoly on poor choices.
    However, you are correct that individual mutants can cause more pain/problems than an individual human. This is why having X-Men as a protection is better than having humans use Sentinels as protection.

  • @theartsyzoologist

    Storm…I was so disappointed at her demise. She is my absolute favourite, the first female heroine/superhero I became obsessed with as a child in the 90’s. My brother would buy me comics every month, which is why I was always so gutted that in this film franchise they passed Storm an “Omega level mutant” off as this beta level deputy principal. Though the Tornado scene in X2 is still my favourite scene of hers from the films.
    On a side note, the actor Adan Canto, who played Sunspot (Guy engulfed/absorbed in Solar flames) in this film, passed away January this year. I would have loved to had seen more of his character. He and Halle Berry also did another film together called Bruised, it’s definitely worth a watch.

    The biggest difference between theatrical and the Rogue Cut is that Rogue is not a major character in the theatrical version. She only appears as a cameo at the end with the restored future timeline. So, in the theatrical version, there is no option to replace Kitty Pride and no side quest to rescue Rogue. On the one hand, the stakes are a little higher in the theatrical version, but on the other hand, if you like the movie version of Rogue, then the theatrical version cuts her out almost completely.

I was so worried that it would be campy, but it held it's own. Not the best Xmen movie but still my favorite by the way they handled it with real respect to the characters. With that said, they can now get away with giving them comic accurate costumes, which will be awesome and we just saw from the Deadpool 3 trailer that Wolvie finally gets his comic costume. In case you were wondering, Peter/Quicksilver in this movie is the same character as Wanda's brother Pietro in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. They're just different versions of the same character. In the comics, both Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are mutants who have also been Avengers. Twentieth Century Fox owned the movie rights to the mutants that fall under the X-Men umbrella of characters, including Wanda and Pietro. But the MCU were able to use Wanda and Pietro in their Avengers movies, just as long as they weren't called mutants and never referred to by their mutant names Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

    This film pretty much creates a whole new timeline post 1973 with X-Men: First Class acting as the first film in both timelines and then branching off with the changes made in this film. Stopping the assassination of Trask, Mutants being revealed to the public during the Paris Peace Accords, And Wolverine being captured by the U.S Government etc.
    So certain characters meet in differant ways, new stories are told, and the world has a slightly more positive view on some mutants, At least the X-Men. I imagine sentinel's would still be around down the line but not to the level we saw them in the future scenes. An evolution of the classic 1960s sentinels that have the firepower to take down Mutants but can't mimic their powers.
    This new timeline also retcons films like X-Men: Origins so that explains why the Deadpool films have a whole new origin story for Deadpool closer to the comics, Pretty much a soft reboot for X-Men keeping some elements of the past films but making changes. X1 and X2 would've happened in a similar way but X3 never happens in this timeline. The Wolverine could've happened as well with Logan having adventures in Japan but they'll be some differences as well. Then a few years pass and Wolverine wakes up in his bed in 2022/2023 within this new timeline like we see in this film.
    So yeah new timeline going forward so you'll see some stuff that may not line up to past films.

  • @sarahjamieson5552
    @sarahjamieson5552 6 месяцев назад

    To answer your question about how strong a mutant Rogue is...in the main comic storyline, early on (when she was hanging around with Mystique and less good mutants) there was an occasion when she attacked Carol Danvers (as in Captain Marvel). She absorbed Carol's powers but due to certain complications during the incident....it went wrong and became a permanent absorption. Carol was without powers for a long while. They did eventually return but Rogue also retained the abilities. So for pretty much all of her history in x-men comics Rogue has had the powers of Carol Danvers (and you already know how powerful she is from the MCU).

    Warpath is great. He is essentially Man+, the ultimate in human physical perfection. His mutation gives him unparalleled physical strength, speed, reflexes, durability, regeneration, and senses turned up not just to 11, but to 17. One of the underappreciated X-Men :D
    Peter Maximoff is Quicksilver, and you've seen him before in the MCU, he's Wanda's brother. He's Marvel's Flash, and also the son of Magneto in the comics (although they did a weird retcon thing recently where this is apparently not true for no real reason) :P
    Also in the comics, Madison Jefferies, aka Box, is a mutant who can psionically reshape plastic, metal, and glass. You asked about a mutant who could control plastic, well there you go :D

    In Days of Future Past, time travel works like Back to The Future... the original timeline is erased/changed by the actions of time travelers. The MCU went with the opposite approach, where the original timeline never changes, just new ones created.
    In the MCU, all those living beings who came back from being snapped away by Thanos weren't restored just because of time travel, they were still dust when the Avengers returned to the future. Hulk had to perform another snap using the infinity stones to bring them back. All the time travel accomplished was to bring back a set of stones enabling them to perform that feat.

    COMIC BOOK FYI: This movie is an alteration on the comic book story line "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont & John Byrne. Both men are exceptional comic book talents. Chris Claremont is known as one of the top tier writers. John Byrne is known for both his writing and artwork.
    Comic Book Rouge was a Beta level mutant (ranked Class 3 by movie terms). Overtime, with Charles Xavier's help, she gains the control to not hurt anyone. This upgraded her to Alpha level (movie Class 4). She is capable of temporarily absorbing Omega level powers (movie Class 5). She does have limits on how much power she can absorb, but that limit is so high it is almost never reached.

    I’ve never seen the Rogue cut in full. I’ve only ever seen it in reactions. But I did see the original movie. And at the time of seeing the original movie, I was really mad that Anna Paquin got so much press and advertisement. Because they had a series of movie posters and not only did get her own, but the one where there was a group shot, she was in a large and prominent position. And I couldn’t understand why. Because literally in the original theatrical movie, she was only in it when Logan woke up at the very end and saw her and Bobby talking down the hallway after everything was fine. She had no lines and was in it for literally seconds. But yeah, Kitty was really struggling. And Logan did still cut her. The crazy thing to think about is that time was moving forward at the same pace in both timelines. It took Logan a few days to get everyone together and to have that battle with the sentinel robots. Which means Kitty/Rogue had to be sitting at the head of Logan and concentrating without moving for multiple days. No eating and no bathroom! That really sucked for them! 😅💙💙💙
