That old Southwest livery is exactly the way I remember it when the airline first started when its routes were only between Dallas and San Antonio and then Houston.. So many weekends I flew to Houston to party.
I loved the old southwest planes better than they are now. For some reason the old style planes flew very calmly. like for some reason it was less bumpy. I only flew 4 times in my life. the first 2 were on the old southwest in the 90's and 2 times on the newer southwest within the past year or 2 and I can say 100% the old flights were more smooth. The new planes for some reason take fast turns and almost makes you sick. They are more bumpy and you can hear everything rattling and they fly faster and higher. The old southwest flights I took in the late 90's were all slow and smooth and turned very slowly that you almost couldn't feel it. ALSO the landing was better in the old ones. They use to land so smoothly that you couldn't tell when the tires made contact with the ground. The new southwest for some reason slam the ground hard then everything rattles before slowing down. Not the old ones. It was smoother.
I was stationed across the Anacostia over at Bolling AFB in the early to mid-70s. Blanchard Barracks was about 8 stories; I can remember more than one occasion where a jet had to fly around for a rough approach and I could see into the cabin windows of the jet roaring past the barracks.
Copper Man I lived there too. 1975 to 1979. On Lackland Way. I could see the threshold to Runway 1 from my parents bedroom. The Slip Inn had great fried Chicken n taters
Turbulence does make a flight more fun as long as it isn't too severe. I encountered severe turbulence for several hours over the Pacific one time, and that wasn't fun. It was over the top.
My first flight ever I was on an a380 from Denver to Frankfurt. I had a window seat over the wing and watching the massive wing flex like it did through turbulence was... terrifying
My first time flying out of Sydney, Australia, they closed the airport for an hour due to high winds. We boarded our Boeing 737 and waited, all the while the plane was rocked side to side while we were sitting at the gate, the only time I’d ever experienced that. I was bracing mentally for a very rocky takeoff but no, we took off and it was super smooth. Smaller planes, like this ERJ, will be more affected. Safe travels to all.
Last time was on an ERJ-145 was a United Express fight from IAD and BDL back in February 2013. Coming back from Charlotte to visit my brother. The flight from CLT to IAD was a CRJ-700. Going to CLT was a US Airways B737-400
Very good video, nice view of the City and the Pentagon, good speed of the plane, I was at that Airport in 2014 and that's why I suscribed to this channel.
Yep, no mistaking what building that is. Passenger A, "What building is that, the Dodecahedron?" Passenger B, "No silly, it's the Hexagon, what are you thinking?"
Great clip! The Delta CRJ pilot had a lot of corrections on final approach at 0:20-0:35. You can also see the American 737 almost go missed approach at 0:52-1:30. That was some serious gusts on the ground! Pretty good chop on take off and I noticed your pilot punch through the rough air with a fast climbout (probably 4-5k feet/min)
I’d love to fly that take off, anywhere there is wind, I’m up for it, probably my favorite conditions to fly in, I think that’s just due to the fact that living in Ireland literally promotes windy conditions also, makes virtually any VFR flight an IFR flight because the cloud ceiling is always very low and flying PA 34s or DA 42s is almost always done via instruments, The best experience to date was an ILS Landing in full overcast with 20 knot gusts, at dusk. Love flying, can’t wait for the right hand seat in A320, soon.
Yep, there was also a Falcon 50 at 4:37. The one with three engines on the tail. One crashed at Greenville SC's downtown airport not long ago. They ran it off of the end of the runway, broke it in two, killed both pilots, and injured two on board. Neither pilot was qualified for the aircraft. They never activated reversers or had auto brakes armed.

This was constant every few seconds on the final 10 mins of the decent and it was petrifying. Any direction the plane could go it went. Up and down, left and right, and at times it felt suspended in the air which of course was the worst feeling of all. We bounced 4 times until the wheels finally remained on the tarmac. Excellent video! Do you feel turbulence more on a smaller plane like this one? Some people worry about that. Those turns look out of control, but I think it's just the pilot making corrections to keep the plane on course.
dave4shmups The ride through turbulence is more based on wing-loading per square foot. That is, a stretched version of a plane with the same wing; they seem to ride better in turbulence because the wing is supporting more weight.
The 145 had a a very very stiff short wing. Therefore it doesn't flex as much. The wing the first time embrear designed a super critical wing.... its extremely strong but my back kills me from flying the thing..
