@@sla31 Uh, I would def say intense. There were at least a couple of times where I almost crapped in my pants just watching the video (especially the closer you got to the runway.)
Modern aircraft have detection systems for windshead and will make an audible Call Out. When they hear “Wind Shear”, the Captain will repeat the call and then determine whether to continue landing or go around. 99.9% of the time, the Captain will call for a Go-Around as Wind Shear usually happens just about or below minimums. In this case, I’m sure they recorded the Call Out well before the actual event happened but decided to continue, until they realized they were unable to stabilize.
There are so many clickbait videos and here you really see the strugge of the pilots and how they do a great job doing a go around. And it is named "landing attempt". This is a refreshing understatement. Thank you for uploading!!
I've had that feeling before of a turbulent final approach and thinking I can't wait to land so this nightmare is over, and then just before we touch down the engines roar and we had back up in the sky and my heart just sinks because now it isn't over.

If you can believe it I'm now A-List on Southwest, and have another nine flights booked on them just this month. I completely understand how a new job can consume someone. Ladies and gentlemen! Introducing a whole new series to the channel. It’s called The Short Clip. This is something I have been meaning to do for a long time. Sometimes I get good footage, that just doesn’t fit into any episode. Sometimes I feel like a moment is so special that it needs its own video. I also understand that most people don’t have time to watch a full one hour long Inflight Series episode. So, from now on I’ll be posting these “short clips” of footage that I deem as important enough to have its own short video. For those of you who do enjoy watching my full-length videos, do not fear, The Short Clip videos will not replace any of the five regular videos that I upload every week. These will be completely separate and will be posted at varying times. There will be no set upload schedule for them. They will basically be “in addition to” the five regular videos you see every week. With that being said you guys get a real treat today! For the first ever Short Clip episode you get to see a very intense aborted landing/diversion while attempting to beat a thunderstorm into Joplin, MO on a American Eagle ERJ-175! Enjoy!
Thanks for watching my friend! You used to live where I live. I don't live in Topeka, but I have lived in Kansas for 26 years. Like you mentioned, those severe thunderstorms we get are just really interesting. I don't know why, but every spring when they start to fire up, I always just love going out onto my back patio and watch them building in the distance.
That’s one hell of an approach! May I feature a part of this video in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video! Keep up the great work!
Why would somebody give this video a thumbs down? It’s clearly a great video and IS what it says it is! There is another video on Facebook take from the airport and it’s equally as good.
Who knows my friend. At least the likes vastly outweigh the dislikes. Thanks for watching! You can also watch the exterior view here in RUclips here: ruclips.net/video/GHua8WbgwMg/видео.html
That flight would've scared the heck out of me. Way to keep the camera stable and good job on the pilots decision to execute a go around. Better safe than sorry.
It had some tense moments for sure, but we had a great crew that knew exactly how handle the situation. I'm actually surprised the filming turned out as good as it did considering how many times my hand hit the window. Thanks for watching!
That 'bouncing around' you mention is always a talk stopper. Other side of the coin: flight from München to Johannesburg and this gent pulls out the eating tray and balances a coin on its side on the tray. Didn't even wobble. Kind of soothes the soul. Bon voyage wherever you go, Skylite.
Thank you my friend. At the moment I'm in Tampa, Florida. Soon I'll be heading to Kona, Hawaii. I try to travel as much as possible. Always trying to get the best footage for my channel.
Incredible video, great job on keeping the camera still with all that jolting around. Reminds me of my flight from SIT-KTN-SEA, tried landing in KTN with like 30mph winds, I couldn't tell how far off the ground we were at all. In the end the pilots aborted and went for SEA.
This was the moment PIC made the decision to abort landing as he/she realized that the plane isn't in full control due to bad weather. Given the visual signs and probably prior knowledge from other pilots/atc that conditions can be bad during landing, pilots were defo ready for this scenario.
It's not that bad. With all that bouncing you can see what's going on. That's a safety issue from wind shear. Happened to me trying to land in Tampa in 2012.
Amazing clip! Looks like at 2:46 the flight deck crew put the throttles on "TOGA" but still had a tough time with climbing out of that windshear. You could tell the pilots were pulling hard on the yoke just to get her to climb out at 1000-1200 fpm!
This video, and I’m not just saying this because it’s my video, should be shown to all pilots in training, to illustrate the dangers of low level wind shear. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@sla31 - you can tell at 2:20 that there's some serious change in airspeed by listening to the engines oscillating in power. The pilots were having continuous trouble with controlling airspeed including TONS of manual input to the vertical stabilizer, ailerons and the rudder. Incredible job keeping the camera steady throughout all of that heavy turbulence!
Well, I don't remember the exact make up of this particular line of storms, but this was definitely a strong line of thunderstorms, and this was definitely a squall line or wall cloud that you can see in the video.
Wow! This is now the most popular video that he ever made with 300,000 views! Great job dude! Edited - That would've scared the hell out of me if I was on that plane irl.
I agree. Although, this one was a bit frightening. It's the only time in the last 10 years that I actually was concerned. I'm glad we eventually went around and headed for SGF.
Wow. Watching that gave me anxiety lol. I actually had an experience similar to this whilst landing in KRDU. There were no thunderstorms however there was strong winds and gusts that knocked our United E175 around on final, luckily near the end the wind calmed just in time for landing without having to go around.
Got some good experience and maturity on the flight deck. Calm, professional, puts the best face on things, but most important, he he removes himself and his passengers to a safer area to wait out the thunderstorm passage.
Thank you my friend! Despite how good these pilots skills were, I think this little ERJ was on the limits of its crosswind abilities. Thanks for watching my friend!
That is some CRAZY turbulence. I like how you (unlike other RUclipsrs) actually label turbulence correctly this is definitely Severe a lot of others like to label light- moderate turbulence as severe or extreme. You don’t do that. Again amazing video and I could hear the wind outside in the video at a few points
Thanks my friend. I appreciate that. I do my best to label videos as close to what they are as possible. I don't like being click baited, so I try not to do that to everyone else with my videos.
Timing is everything in life; so amazing to be there on that particular flight in those conditions and also to have another video of the aborted landing, shot from the ground as well. Great video.
as a pilot windshear is scary dangerous and could be deadly kudos to those pilots for recognizing the situation and opting for n aborted landing better to try again then to push your luck
Really cool how it looks a little sunny in beginning of video, then he comes out of that left turn and you just see gnarly storms and thunder heads. Pilots were on it too.
I was definitely surprised when we made that 180 and I saw the storm. I knew there was a storm that we were trying to beat, but being on the right side of the plane I hadn't been able to see it until this point. Thanks for watching!
Really cool video! Amazing footage of that go around! Good decision by the pilots! Definitely strong storms gaining strength and the ceiling beginning to drop! Nice job! Liked!
Definitely was a good decision. That's what pilots are trained for though! There is a reason the FAA is so strict when it comes to pilot training. I have my private license, and I know you are going through the process of getting your licenses, so we know what it takes to get to this level. Also, this shows first hand how wind shear is a scary thing, and we definitely had our fair share of it here. Also, I just messaged you on Facebook from my personal account. I just wanted to let you know here too, so you knew it was legit. As always! Thanks for watching!
I had one bad landing at Toronto International on a 747-200, (British Airways), and that was bad enough because that is a massive aircraft. We didn't abort, although it was the roughest landing I ever had. I had sympathy for people landing in smaller aircraft. A mile from the end of the runway at 1000ft we dropped 500ft and powered-up and climbed back up to the Glide-Slope. When we finally landed we were on 100% reverse thrust and I never saw an aircraft stop so quickly. As we walked into the terminal, I realized that we had to fly back to London. Walking on the ground never felt so good.
Those clouds looked like the clouds the alien ships in Independence Day came out of 😳. You guys got your asses kicked on that approach! Those gusts were brutal!!! I loved it!!! Ready for the full episode! NVM i found it....why is YT just now showing me this old video???🤔
Look like the wind was blowing the plane a bit... Looked a a bit shaky. Thanks for sharing. Find that scary situation to be in. In a plane during a thunderstorm.
I went through something like this when I was landing in Springfield IL on August 10th of this year and I have to say I wished I recorded it but this brings back that terrifying memory and I haven't flown in a while but since I'm writing this comment I made it to the ground 😅
Great video! I like it that the pilot was so cool about everything. The storm clouds did look pretty intense and the go around was really bumpy. But great video, im a fan!
this happened to me last year trying to land in Boston. As one who doesn't like flying to begin with, this was NOT fun. But I was amazed at how the pilots can handle these boats!!
That sort of stuff scares me! And my daughter is a flight attendant! I am not brave to fly without worries especially during any type of storms. I suffer from severe anxiety and always have to take a pill to take the edge off.
I know many people struggle with flying. Even for me, as someone who flies on a regular basis, this flight was more than even I like. Thanks for watching!
Well I see what you are referring to, and although this line of storms did produce some tornados I didn't hear anything about there being any around the Joplin/Springfield area. I'd imagine that's just the clouds being distorted due to the very unstable winds. Since 2011 when that EF5 tornado ripped through the middle of Joplin killing over 160 people tornados are watched pretty closely in the Joplin area, and I'd imagine I would have heard something about it had there actually been a funnel cloud that close to the city. Who knows though. Maybe it never fully formed.
Coming from Dallas I had nice clear skies the whole way up. It was at about 1:00 in, when we turned base, that I knew we were in for a bumpy ride. Thanks for watching my friend!
I appreciate that my friend. I'd like to think the years of practice I have when it comes to filming flights played a roll in that. Also, there were definitely some churning stomachs. Thanks for watching!
One can always tell from a video that an approach was really intense when its noticable how the conversation in the cabin gradually dies down to none at all in the last few seconds before touch down. Terrified passengers dont make small talk.
Holy..!!! That looks REALLY bad. Never seen anything like this on YT. For once, the person behind the cam doesn´t fake it... second that turbulence does not fool around... THAT is severe.. or even extreme it seems some times. I would crap my pants being in your shoes... great job filming and making the video.
And those downdrafts were what ultimately cause the crew to decide a go-around and eventual diversion were necessary. The entire landing wasn't rough, but they managed it until that point. Thanks for watching my friend!
The pilot handled that so well and of course his voice was consoling for everyone. Spectacular looking footage -- wow.
I agree my friend! Thanks for watching!
Wow, there are a lot of overrated "turbulent landings" on RUclips. But that was - for once - a terrifying one!
I try very hard to not title my videos something they aren't. So I thought intense was a good word to use, and everyone else could decide what they really thought about it. Thanks for watching my friend!

@@sla31 Uh, I would def say intense. There were at least a couple of times where I almost crapped in my pants just watching the video (especially the closer you got to the runway.)
Biggest turbulence ever....like riding the massive waves
Agreed. The worst and "most" real I have ever seen here.
Right when that wind pushed down on the wing the pilots definitely knew it was not safe. Great video! I keep watching the approach over and over again

Windshear. The whole plan dropped. That is why WS is so dangerous during the landing approach when close to the ground, the plane suddenly loses lift.

Enjoy!
+Skylite Productions Awesome, I look forward to these videos!
bet some passengers shit themselves??
Exceptional decision making process noticed during this approach and go around!!! Kudos to this crew! Thanks for posting this awesome video 👍🏼🛩👌🏼👏
No problem my friend. They definitely made the right split second decision when it counted that's for sure. Thanks for watching!
If a tornado had dropped from the clouds THAT would have been my worst nightmare--on a jet flying into a tornado! Great video.
Thanks my friend! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That was some real menacing looking weather. Happy all went well.
One of the best air turbulence videos! Those skies remind me of living in Topeka. That is my favorite weather of all.
Golly, that wind was brutal. Kudos to pilots for making good decisions and bringing everyone home safely!
Yes! I definitely second that since I was on the plane. This is what pilots train for! Thanks for watching my friend!
Dude, you are *underrated*
Thanks man! I appreciate that!
WOW BEST PLANE VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN and I’ve seen many!
That's a pretty high endorsement my friend! I greatly appreciate that. Thanks for watching!
That’s one hell of an approach! May I feature a part of this video in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks my friend. As long as proper credit and links are given you are welcome to use the clip. Thanks for asking.
Amazing video,i had to watch not once but 3 times repeatedly
You and me both my friend! Thanks for watching!
Yes, definitely. Better inconvenienced than dead, any day!
Same would have had me shivering lol
Excellent job all round - pilots, crew and your filming. Thank you.
Thanks my friend. As much bouncing around as we were doing I'm happy it turned out as well as it did.
Always trying to get the best footage for my channel.
smart decision to go around. the wings were banking excessively at a very low altitude
Great video 💚
Very strong winds. Good choice on the Pilots to go around. Great video!
Definitely was. Thanks for watching!
Incredible video, great job on keeping the camera still with all that jolting around. Reminds me of my flight from SIT-KTN-SEA, tried landing in KTN with like 30mph winds, I couldn't tell how far off the ground we were at all. In the end the pilots aborted and went for SEA.
Menacing looking clouds... great clip..
Woooowww heftig heftig......Top Video Danke👍
Holy smokes..i would have died at 2:44!!😲💀
2:44 was a very tense moment for sure! Needless to say I was happy to hear the engines spooling back! Thanks for watching!
Definitely had his hands full right there!
Please don't sit next to me. Ever.
Incredible job keeping the camera steady throughout all of that heavy turbulence!
great job. better to chicken out out of a landing than to die trying
Also what type of storm was that? Single cell, Multi cell cluster, Squall line, or Supercell?
Well, I don't remember the exact make up of this particular line of storms, but this was definitely a strong line of thunderstorms, and this was definitely a squall line or wall cloud that you can see in the video.
Wow! This is now the most popular video that he ever made with 300,000 views! Great job dude!
Edited - That would've scared the hell out of me if I was on that plane irl.
Thanks for watching my friend! This was quite the flight for sure!
Gosh. Fabulous. I love a bit of turbulence. !! Fantastic video as always.
Xxx
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved it. You’re so lucky to get to travel so much sweety. I’m actual envious. X😊
Man I love landings like these. So much fun to be on, but also slightly frightening.
I agree. Although, this one was a bit frightening. It's the only time in the last 10 years that I actually was concerned. I'm glad we eventually went around and headed for SGF.
I was on a E175 back in February. We had a missed approach and went around. Glad I got it on camera!
Excellent video! That ERJ was taking a beating. Very wise choice to abort and divert.
Thank you my friend! Despite how good these pilots skills were, I think this little ERJ was on the limits of its crosswind abilities. Thanks for watching my friend!
Good one, some real turbulence / windshear , good CRM in that cockpit.
You notice that as soon as the right wing dipped on the approach the pilot gunned it and pulled up. Wise decision by the captain👊
Was that a Boing 737-800? Seems so according to the short wing and the winglets.
No this was onboard an American Eagle Embraer ERJ-175.
Yes indeed. It's not often we get to see something like this from multiple angles. Thanks for watching my friend!
as a pilot windshear is scary dangerous and could be deadly kudos to those pilots for recognizing the situation and opting for n aborted landing better to try again then to push your luck
Very well put my friend. I couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching!
Was in the same model plane last Saturday in Charlotte. Silly departure in bad weather did the same thing. Was a real thriller.
Good thing Embraer builds these things tough right? Thanks for watching my friend!
Wow he had to go around wow
Awesome video my friend!
Thanks for watching my friend!
As my instructors always said, "the decision to go around is always right, unless your out of fuel.
this is always in the back of my head when i'm on final, works like a charm :) ruclips.net/video/vqFTD-Bqwl8/видео.html
You can really feel the turbulence in this video -- Hell, it looked like the wing was gonna come off!
Great video! The rainshaft was a few miles away no doubt the crew was dealing with the outflow from the downburst.
Seat Assignment?
Those clouds looked like the clouds the alien ships in Independence Day came out of 😳. You guys got your asses kicked on that approach! Those gusts were brutal!!! I loved it!!! Ready for the full episode!
NVM i found it....why is YT just now showing me this old video???🤔
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend. The full flight is available here: ruclips.net/video/Y5Updn4wnEo/видео.html
That is one of the most scariest landing in my life but over all nice footage.
Great video! I like it that the pilot was so cool about everything. The storm clouds did look pretty intense and the go around was really bumpy. But great video, im a fan!
Thanks my friend! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
this happened to me last year trying to land in Boston. As one who doesn't like flying to begin with, this was NOT fun. But I was amazed at how the pilots can handle these boats!!
They go through strict training. It's moments like this, and yours, that their training really shows. Thanks for watching!
Wow... a microburst on landing!Realy an awesome video!
Thank you my friend! Thanks for watching!
Is the full flight version posted?

@@sla31 thank you
That sort of stuff scares me!
The most frightening approach I have ever seen!
It was definitely the most frightening approach I've ever flown on as well. Thanks for watching my friend!
Now that is some windshear! Holy wow!
Yes it was indeed! It was quite the ride. Thanks for watching my friend!
Just before > if that wing hit..... wow man. I use to fly Cargo into Memphis and to LAX...I remember those days.
Unexpected. Well done.
Wooo that looked like a wild ride!
Ahhhh those clouds are scary looking but I’ve been in something like this the plane just dropped. Also scary plane ✈️ ride.
Is that a funnel cloud in the top-left at 3:20 to 3:39?
Well I see what you are referring to, and although this line of storms did produce some tornados I didn't hear anything about there being any around the Joplin/Springfield area. I'd imagine that's just the clouds being distorted due to the very unstable winds. Since 2011 when that EF5 tornado ripped through the middle of Joplin killing over 160 people tornados are watched pretty closely in the Joplin area, and I'd imagine I would have heard something about it had there actually been a funnel cloud that close to the city. Who knows though. Maybe it never fully formed.
That storm looks just obscene... splendid filmwork here mate.
Coming from Dallas I had nice clear skies the whole way up. It was at about 1:00 in, when we turned base, that I knew we were in for a bumpy ride. Thanks for watching my friend!
It's the Nothing!
It was a VERY strong windy storm when it finally moved through. Slow moving.
Chilean Aviation Films welcome to Joplin Missouri... tornado ally
Nice 60 fps camera
Looks like the 'Windshear' warning went off. Time to go around and have another go... nice clip.
Thanks my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
One of the few videos where I feel like you captured the "feeling" of the turbulence on camera. I'm sure stomachs were flying around!
Very nice observation my friend. Thanks for watching!
Holy..!!! That looks REALLY bad. Never seen anything like this on YT. For once, the person behind the cam doesn´t fake it... second that turbulence does not fool around... THAT is severe.. or even extreme it seems some times. I would crap my pants being in your shoes... great job filming and making the video.
Wow! Those downdrafts were pretty intense right above the deck.
And those downdrafts were what ultimately cause the crew to decide a go-around and eventual diversion were necessary. The entire landing wasn't rough, but they managed it until that point. Thanks for watching my friend!
Awesome! Love your channel! Keep up the good work man! Subscribed ;)
Thanks my friend! Glad to have you around the channel.
No problem 👍
What a nice pilot to take them up again 😊
