    Frozen bananas can be cut into chunks & blended in blender to make ice cream. Actually even just mash frozen bananas with a fork & beat it a bit with a fork like beating up eggs. No liquid or anything else needed. Dairy allergies so it was my go to for ice cream substitute for birthday parties, etc. when my kids were growing up.

    The paralax sheets don't work as well for really wet foods, foods actually stick more. Using the grids as a foldable cutting board to transfer dried foods to a jar fitted with a canning funnel saves a ton of time.

    That’s exactly what I do-I flash freeze half bananas on cookie sheet then bag those up for smoothies-last year I got tons of bananas-cases-it’s great having them for smoothies/ice cream/cakes & muffins-my family loves the dehydrated and they keep for yrs. I’ll have to remember to dehydrate peels next time-I just soaked them in water a few days then poured into garden -it was VERY STINKY but dehydrated would be great no stinky and save for garden season. We love our magic mill-had it about 9 months-works great! Next time I’m going to make/can some monkey butter😋

    We raised 5 children. I used to buy the markdown cases of bananas. I often froze most of them. Then I would make lots of fruit rolls. I blended them with pears or peaches or berries or whatever else I had available or frozen. Using at least 1/3 banana in the mixture made them ply able. On the Excalibrator I used 2 cups of puree for each tray. I then cut them in half and rolled them up in plastic wrap. They keep for years. My grown kids friends still tell me how much they liked them ☺️. I would add some sugar but not a lot. Much healthier than the bought fruit rolls. If you don't have liners for the trays, plastic wrap will work just fine. Just tuck it under before pouring on the puree. You want the puree to have a thicker consistency, not real runny. Enjoy your experience in dehydrating fruit ☺️

    When I have dehydrated bananas in the past I always let them cool on the tray . Then test them to see how they snap. Also bananas are very high in sugar so once cooled then put in jars if after a day or two if you notice any moisture in the jar you might have to put them back in the dehydrator for a little longer . Your doing good keep up the good work 🤗

    • @shirleysparks1148
      @shirleysparks1148 2 года назад +2

      THE CONDITIONING PROCESS
      After drying, and cooling food, do not immediately store it away long-term and forget about it. You want to verify that it really is properly dried. Food which isn’t properly dried could mould in storage.
      The conditioning process is where you put the newly-dried (and cooled) food stuffs in a transparent container for a few days and observe it frequently to see if any condensation moisture is forming on the sides of the container. If it does, then the food needs to go back into the dehydrator for further drying.
      Conditioning also equalizes any residual moisture that might be left in any of the food pieces. This means that if one piece has a bit too much moisture left in it that might leave it susceptible to mould, the other drier pieces will suck some of that moisture out of it, reducing it to a safe level.

    You mentioned homeschooling in a prior video and I thought I would share my favorite economical choices for children. We have 8 children and have graduated our oldest😁.
    Preschool...Rod and Staff preschool workbooks and simply have an hour Nursery hour reading aloud in the evening is awesome. You can buy favorites from list like Sonlight, Ambleside Online, and My Fathers World...or borrow for free from the library.
    My Fathers World preschool and K are awesome programs, but you really do not need them...only if mama wants to splurge and have fun direction.
    Christian Light K is simple and amazing. I add an abacus and a phonics program after they finish the 5 workbooks. Simple, inexpensive, and age appropriate.
    Alphaphonics is free and goes so well with the Bob books you got before at Costco. Another one we use first for our children and can often be found used for 5 dollars is Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. We follow it up with Alphaphonics or Phonics Pathways...I have both and they are both excellent.
    Hope your journey goes exceedingly well!

    Normal with the banana chips, I don't like them home done, because of the texture. Love the twist on rice pudding. I'm thinking, I might just try that one. My kids and grandkids like baked bananas with chocolate chips and Carmel drizzle with whipped cream on top. I wonder how good an apple banana fruit roll up might be..

    Separate your eggs into 3 containers. #1 to hold the yokes. #2 to separate the whites into. When you get a clean yoke free white, transfer it into #3. Repeat always dropping the current white into #2 and then putting it into #3. That way if you do get some yoke in an egg white it won't destroy the use of the others that you managed to collect cleanly. It is tough to break 5 eggs with no yoke getting in them only to mess up on the 6th by breaking it into the same container as the good ones. By the same logic, always break eggs into a small bowl before transferring them into whatever you are baking. It sucks to break a bad egg onto good ingredients.

    Bananas?? I doctored this Gordon Ramsey Recipe. Mix together 6 Tbl Canola oil, 1/4 cup unpacked brown sugar and 1 egg in a standing mixer. Add 4 lg, spotted bananas (thickly sliced) until the mixture is lumpy. Pour in dry mixture of1 1/2 c flour, 2 tsp baking powder and 1 1 /2 tsp baking soda and 1 1/3 c rolled oats. (This doesn't work well with quick oats.) Mix until the dry is incorporated.(It should still be lumpy.) Stir in 1 cup of chopped walnuts , 2/3 c dark chocolate chips and 1 large , ripe banana that has been diced. Bake for 20- 22 minutes in a 350 oven. Freeze. Warm frozen muffin for a grab and go breakfast. I warm them for 31 seconds in my high wattage microwave. (The texture really improves during the freezing process.)
