Hi Gav, I am looking to get some bodies for a TT-02 chassis. I was hoping to get something along the lines of an S13, S14 AE86 or other 80's or 90's Japanese body. I didn't see Tamiya having much of a selection for these cars and I was wondering if you had any experience with the Pandem or HPI Racing Bodies and how their fitment is on a Tamiya TT-02 chassis. Any insight is much appreciated! Thank you and keep up the great work!
Great video. I'd endorse every word Gav says, I'd even go a little further than he does. I think the more rare or older the car, the more you should assume that a refurbishment will uncover some problems that the current owner doesn't in all good faith know about. To off-set this risk, you should imagine you get your buggy, and on dismantling you find the shock seals disintegrate or the bearings are too loose. That is to say, have a look for the major components for availability. If it's your first restoration, a good tip is to try and find a model that has been re-released.
Love the content.I'm not even a Tamiya R/C fan with a few exceptions. But Tamiya plastic modelkits I am rabid. Love the Tamiya body shells. Of the old cars Kyosho Associated and Custom Works. The great thing about RCKicks is your knowledge on the subject. It's acually like sitting in on a lecture series on the Tamiya line. Really great stuff. Between yourself, Ampro and Matteo it's an online encyclopepia. And these Mardave and other smaller manufacturers you bring on. Really interesting. Actually maybe a 15 minute interview with the Gentleman that's designing this new buggy with no towers. Would really like to hear more about that and he might be a great interview. Maybe someone from Mardave. Then find that CEO from Kyosho and someone at corparate from Tamiya. Who knows, matbe all Kyosho and Tamiya only hear from industry press. If they start getting requests for interviews for someone in the fan base with street cred and a YT channel. Throwin it out there.
I am looking after a sand eagle 2 nikko.....ad a Ferrari 1/10 from the 90s I think was from tamiya, with the soft tires..... The sand eagle was my first rc car, the Ferrari was my dream car, very expensive at that time...
If you find an R/C car on eBay you can send the seller a message with your offer. The seller probably will not accept your offer. However, what you can do is tell the seller that if you do not sell your R/C car would you be willing to accept my offer then? I will tell the seller that I will wait until the auction ends. When the auction ends the seller just might accept your offer. I got a Tamiya Porsche 959 by doing this. I also got a Tamiya Porsche 959 body this way too. Thoughts?
Getting expensive now but it’s a really good looking buggy in real life. Rebecca restored one on the show and it turned out much nicer than expected. Enjoy
Yahoo Japan Auctions and a company like Sendico to purchase it for you and ship it out, they also place orders on Japanese only online stores which they then ship to you.
Just curious on the the term vintage. I am see re-released kits being termed as vintage, is it an overused term designed to suck in the unwary? My thought is it should only apply to original release kits.
Vintage for original releases and vintage rere for any rerelease kits from the original vintage design. This issue comes when a rere kit was released 15 years ago, is that now vintage or a vintage rerelease? Personally, I like the year date idea, Avante 2011 for example, that works for me.
I have 2 team asociated rc 10s from 1985 receivers 2 cars no baterys original paperwork minus 1 body charges etcwhat are they worth used but good shape or do you know anyone that would be interested?
Unfortunately looking at past auction sales inevitably leads to cursing some idiot that paid too much for some piece of rare crap, all while yelling at the screen that "people like you are the problem !!!", while failing to notice the heading that says "you won this auction!" I use the term "won" very loosely. Then cry because you are the problem. Not that I would know about such things, Ive just heard.

@@RCKickschannel i suppose I struggle with the concept that something 10 to 15 years old is vintage. My age, that's vintage :)
