Hi! I some questions b4 I start an etsy shop and would very much appreciate it if you answered some c:
1) How does the WHOLE shipping process work (from getting the label to sending it out) if I chose to make the buyer pay for shipping. This is what I'm most scared of right now because I'm not sure how it works and would like a simple detailed explanation for it. Is there a way that will let ME ship it instead of having my parent drive me somewhere to ship it? My mom is upset that she might have to drive me to a post office, but there is a mail drop off box near my school that I could use if possible.
2) What ring light do you use, how much did it cost, and how should I make more aesthetically pleasing pictures (like on a bed/outdoors for example).
3) What is SKU and a Tariff number? Not super sure what those are and I think a Tariff number is required so I would like to know lol

Hi! So with the shipping label, you can print it off directly from your home! Once a buyer buys an item, they also pay for shipping. After you print the label off the Etsy website, you can cut it out and tape it to your box. Then, you can put it in your mailbox and the mail carrier should pick it up when they deliver your mail!

@@gwendalbriantais9072 sorry for the late response, RUclips didn’t notify me. For the ring light, I got it off of Amazon for about $12-$15.
Also, I didn’t have to get a tariff number because I do not ship to other countries outside of the US.
SKU is a way to manage your inventory, but to be honest I don’t think it’s super important because I have never used it

Hello Pheonix! I have been questioning if my work is good enough to sell. What I specialize in is Plushie sewing and decorating, I sew different characters that I like and decorate them to match exactly to their actual looks
@@bellanano-u3q well it kind of depends! Those sound really cool, I would suggest looking at your competitors to see if their quality is similar, and adjust your prices depending on what you think would be a fair price!

It doesn’t cost you anything to ship from your mailbox, but it does when you bring it to the post office right?
Hi! Once a label is boughten, the post office doesn’t charge any extra. You can buy the label through Etsy, the post office website, or other sites. If you go to the post office you can buy the label there. They do not charge any extra to pick up from your mailbox!

I always have the buyer pay for shipping, but it kind of depends on your product! A lot of my products are $10 or under, but if you had for example a $45 product, you may want to entice buyers by offering free shipping because it wouldn’t dig into your profits as much.

@@savannahbrown570 I would suggest scrolling down to the bottom of the page and seeing if there are options to make a shop. Or try clicking on your profile settings/options
Im a tween and im really good at doing braclets ty for helping but would it be a good price for each braclet 2 dollars?
It really depends on how long it takes you to make one, and how much your materials cost. I would suggest at least $3 or $4 each, because Etsy fees add up. (20 cent listing fee, and 6.5% of the item total when you make a sale.) You also have to factor in how much you are paying for boxes. Shipping labels shouldn’t cost you anything (besides the paper and tape) if the buyer is paying.
You could also do a bracelet pack of 2-4 bracelets for a good price like $5-$12

How do i customise my shop
im so confused i made a account on etsy and i downloaded the shop app but when i try to sign in my account in the shop etsy app it says “shop not associated “ and i dont know how to make the shop 😭

I have a quick question, if you’re using your parents info do you connect your own bank account or your parents account?
I would suggest your parents bank account so the information lines up, (mine is connected to my parents) I’m not %100 sure, so you may want to double check, but you can probably use yours if you would like, I don’t think there would be any problems!

Hi! So for the bank account l, your parents will need one, and you can use any light for photos, including natural light!

For me when i sign in on etsy seller (blue icon) it says this account does not have a shop
Hmm, maybe try going to the main website, and looking at the options at the bottom of the page. There should be an option for creating a shop but I’m not sure

A lot of people seem to be having a problem with that, and things may have changed since I started a shop many years ago. I would look up how to do it on an Etsy help forum, or scroll to the bottom of the main page and there should be an option to sell

Thank you! I’ve been selling for 4 years now! Right now I don’t have a lot in stock because I’m prepping to sell in person at a market, so I haven’t been putting as much on my shop. But the amount I add kinda comes and goes depending on how busy I am
That was my question that when you get your labels printed process you don’t have to worry about shipping ? And does do it through your mail box ?
Etsy has a built in system for shipping on the website. All I have to do is print the label, stick it on the package, and put it in my mailbox. The buyer also pays for shipping.

@@SKZ4EVER12 if you are logged in, there should be a little shop icon at the top of the page by your profile. If there isn’t, scroll to the bottom of the page and there should be a link/option that says something like: sell on Etsy.

I am planning on starting an Etsy account with my best friend. Is it a good idea to collab on Etsy account.
It depends. If you know each other really well and trust each other, then it is probably ok. One of you will have to have the bank account information, but both of you can make changes to the shop if you share the password.
I do see a lot of small businesses having family members help them, and sometimes friends.
If both of you are committed, then it should be fine! I hope your business goes well!

I've been wanting to sell bracelets as a side job before college starts so I can help my mom out with money. On August 12th I turn 18 so I'm not sure if I should start an account with my mom's name first, then prepare the shop and change the name when I turn 18. Or if I should just wait until then so I can start it with my own name and account. Also are there any legal things I need to do first before setting up a shop?
I also wanted to set up a shop bc so far I can't find any jobs that will work with my college schedule within my area
@@Blue-100 good question, it would probably be a little easier if you waited till August 12, but either way would be fine. As for legal things, I’d suggest just making sure you are prepared to pay income tax on your business every year (it’s about %15 for me but this can vary) also I’m not sure but some states might require a business license, most likely not for just selling online but you may want to check

Under settings there should be an option to change the name, and under your shop dashboard there should be an option to add listings

@@SierraJanai hmm so that’s interesting because I’m able to sell both shippable and digital items, because when I make a listing it asks me which one. Not 100% sure but maybe select the shippable option first?

I’m actually not entirely sure! I looked it up on the web and got mixed answers. My guess is it would probably be ok, but things may get tricky when tax season comes around

@@Kksworld1414 so most states don’t require a license to sell online, so check online with yours. Commissions usually aren’t a good idea starting out, and with taxes you’ll probably want to set aside 15% of your income for later paying income tax every year

Hi! So the money goes directly to the parents bank account every week, but you get to see exactly how much is sent there in the payment section and in emails. If you have a separate account, you could always have your parents send it from their account to yours, or just keep track on paper how much you have to spend!

Hi! So I’m actually not sure, but I would assume not. If you or your parents have a PayPal account, that might work
This is the first time I’ve heard someone mail something by placing it in a mailbox! Do you mind telling me the requirements to do so? It will really help!
Of course! So I just have to make sure that the packages fit in the mailbox and have a shipping label bought through Etsy on them. I can put as many in the mailbox that fits. For boxes that were bigger, I left a note in the mailbox for the mail carrier to get off the porch.

@@Sunny-sky-star so if you are shipping with Etsy labels, then you won’t use stamps. And the labels are purchased on the website. I don’t have to pay extra for them since I selected that the buyer pays once they purchase an item.

where do you find the listing option? sorry im kinda late
So to add a listing, go to your shop dashboard and look on the left side where there are lots of options. One is for listings. Click on it and then there should be a “+” icon, which you can click on to start adding a new listing
Do I need a printer or does like how do I print out the label?
Yes! To print it out you can use any printer. If you don’t have a printer you can go to the post office for labels
If it is in my parents name will it need to be there SSN?
Yes! All the information should be your parents including SSN, and you can then run the shop under their name and information
Question. Do you have to pay any taxes or anything because you are making money?
@@Glossy_Vibe_1 Yes! Your parents that you have the account name under has to file your income at the end of the year. I set aside money out of my income to pay at the end of the tax season

You can sell real or digital products! I personally do a mix of both!

Most likely! The currency will probably be different for you. I am not sure how much that would be in your currency, but most likely not very much since 20 cents is very cheep in the USA.

@@Ashy_cloudz hmm if you haven’t set up a shop under the account, go to the main website to make a shop. Then you can get the app attached to your account and shop. The Etsy seller app is not required, and neither is a computer! You can just use the website on your device to manage your shop
