Would love to see a real old-school trucker doing the review, going through the full sequence: driving his actual rig, unloading the trailer, switching to the tesla semi, loading the trailer, driving through a weigh station, driving to a delivery point, etc.
One thing that is absolutely crap is the driver seat in the middle. When reversing to a loadingdock its nice if you can stick your head out of the window. In this truck you need a real long neck.......
I like the no BS aspect of any Tesla or SpaceX video. It's like the just say, here it is, this is what we did and why. No other random comments required. I really like that way of thinking. Spend time looking for solutions and not excuses.
Sounded like trained corporate-speak to me. At 23:11 Jay asked about a screen view they hadn't considered yet. The manager comment didn't make sense because he had to improvise without a script. Obviously talented people here. It's company culture that causes that. Mistakes cost careers. Billions on the line...
I’m the city manager in charge of off duty police operations for the city of Burbank. There were off duty police paid for by the production team for this PR shoot of this vehicle. Mr Leno was under escort by these officers through the streets and was ask to drive in the middle of two lanes for most of the journey during filming.
@@TobyAnderson yes, he seemed OVERLY preoccupied with the novelty of the truck and SEVERAL times was over the dotted line & outside of his travel lane.
I love how the Tesla designer is telling Jay how he's nailing keeping the truck centered. Meanwhile the camera man is showing Jay hugging 2 lanes and driving over the white line😅
I don't know whether Jay holds a CDL or merely has a CDL permit. Or perhaps he didn't give a damn, found that it drives more like a car, had a filming permit, and even had a police car blocking the road when he made a U turn.
A true “car guy” appreciates all cars and progress. Personally, I own two Teslas. I’ve run the gamut over the past 16 years that I’ve been driving, sports cars, SUVs, luxury sedans, just started dabbling in motorcycles, and now my wife and I have a Y and 3. I loved something about every car I’ve owned, but the Teslas really tick all the boxes.
I remember John Mayer saying it really well in an interview. Jay Leno's parking spot would have something like a 1920s firetruck in it, and you come to realize that he could drive anything he wanted and it would make sense because he's such an enthusiast.

I had the truly awesome experience of meeting Jay at Aviano AFB in Dec ‘95. We were in the mess hall having breakfast at the new camp we’d just finished, when in comes Jay Leno. Sat with us an talked. An AWESOME individual.
A huge issue here is weight….. I am a small fleet owner and driver myself. In the U.S. the max gross weight a truck and cargo can be is 80,000 pounds without special permits. My truck weighs 17,000 pounds, they mentioned the load Jay was pulling at over 50,000 pounds. The trailer he was attached to weighs less than 10,000lbs, so the truck alone is over 40,000lbs. That’s almost 3 times the weight of my truck. That being said, it would take 3 of these to haul the max weight alone that I can haul. Now multiply the cost of this truck times 3 which would be somewhere close to $1.5mill. in tractors to move what I can move and my truck was $190,000 new. I could put (7) trucks like mine on the road hauling freight for the same initial cost without factoring in how much more freight I could haul across the country with seven rigs. Now, which avenue would save the customer or end user the most money? I like the idea of electric trucks if they are cost effective. These are nowhere cost effective for anyone, anytime soon. The Freightliner version of this truck is $500 - $600,000 to initially purchase. The numbers just don’t make sense.
60-70 gross, minus 10 for the trailer, call it 55, for 2 telsa trucks. So the trucks way somewhere around 27 to 30 each. So I agree, way to heavy! Imagine your towing a 53' refer daily! Your empty weight would be around 50! Great comment and couldn't agree more!
I’m a truck driver too. I agree 100%. Also, keep in mind the distance for OTR (over the road) my truck runs out of fuel at 1,000 miles. I fuel it back up in 5 minutes or less. These teslas run out at 400 miles. It would take a very long time to recharge. You’ll never get to the receiver on time. You’ll be days late!
The math has been done on this. The load deficit is between 4-6k lbs when compared to a diesel truck. The Tesla gets an extra 2k for being an ev. According to the statistics, 80% of the loads on the road fall within the Tesla semi's capabilities.
I sincerely respect the fact that both the Chief Designer and the Senior Manager of Engineering hook up and disconnect the trailer with their own hands.
Tesla has provided more information in this video about the semi truck than anywhere else even their website doesn't share this amount of information. Thanks Jay Leno for asking very needed questions
Nothing is finalized yet and some details may change before this ramps. They have to be careful about what they say because so many love picking apart everything they state.

As a young former driver (28), I could see many ppl near my age being open to driving these. I love the suicide door. Love the tech and cameras. My only thought is, I would love for Tesla or someone to make accompanying trailers & reefers that would be outfitted with cameras. And possibly outfitted with an automated lift when hooking and unhooking. Then another thought comes to mind of moving your tandems.
and it should be possible to attach cameras easily to non tesla trailers, that connect wirelessly. magnetic. simply slap them on the trailer. Also, autonomous reversing!!!

For anyone not familiar with this class of truck This day-cab looks so comfortable and airy. It really is a day cab truck drivers dream. I’ve driving the day cab trucks and they feel cramped and uncomfortable not even anywhere close to this. This looks amazingly comfortable. Respect to these guys.

The problem is their (Tesla employee) politicians , they don’t answer the questions simply and effectively. This whole thing is an advertising moment in our nations history to make China wealthy.
I love how these Tesla executives are so hands on. The way Dan climbs around on the back of this truck, hooking up the trailer, he's no office jockey. He also obviously had a great feel for driving the vehicle as well.
😂 what so hooking up 4 lines and putting a latch in the 5th wheel is "hands on"? hahahaha you kids nowadays crack me up. Dan wouldnt have a clue what to do if the pin stuck or jay reversed under the pin. He'd be on the phone to Elon asking what the UK would do if this happened 😂
Seriously. Elon, this dude deserves a raise and/or a bonus. The way he presented the truck and represented the brand was top notch. I've seen many other corporate guys on this channel who were mediocre at best.
Having driven trucks, daycabs, and longhaul sleeper setups, I'm really enamored with this truck. I wish the daycabs I drove had that much room inside. Most have so little space that you can't change your mind. I honestly can't wait to see the sleeper version...
Enough room in the back for a cassette toilet like you get in some RVs..for those unexpected emergencies like stuck in a traffic jam or bad weather event!!.❤️🇺🇸
I wouldn't be surprised to see a trucker toss in a curtain and rod, cot, mattress, and cassette toilet in one of these daycabs and drive it long haul. The second seat can be easily removed, giving the back area 3-4 feet of depth, it seemed.
41:15 - This is exactly why I like to watch Leno's reviews. He just has so much knowledge about car history that you learn always something totally unexpected.
This is just an ad for Tesla. These guys talk like politicians. Or worse, car salesman. This thing is years from being doable over the road. City maybe, cross country, nope.
Probably not finished yet, and it will probably have variable battery load out that will change the weight. When he hooks up trailer he did say 60-70k lbs back there with a semi on the flatbed, can probably figure it out from the trailer weight.
I think having Jay Leno's opinion and him testing these guys like a car guru and he's asking all the right questions and bringing up all the right points 100%. What an informative and valuable video
Yeah, everyone has their opinions on electric trucking, but this is very informative and has def warmed me up a little to the inevitable gasless future.
If there's ever a segment of our road-using population that needs to be electrified; its trucking. There's many "feel", "enjoyment" and "leisure" arguments to be made for passenger cars (specifically manual transmission cars, which I will own until I die), motorcycles and consumer-owned vehicles, but trucking should be as fast, cheap and easy-to-use as possible. Yes, with any drastic change, people will fight it (see any change management lesson LOL), but this thing can/will be revolutionary.

And he always asks the questions that the average guy like me would. Thanks Jay Thank you very much Tesla.
As a retired trucker drove around a million miles plus from Canada and all the USA. The only downside I see is being in the center of the vehicle. When backing up it’s always done if possible with watching where you put the trailer out the drivers side window. Sitting in the center makes you so dependent on cameras that may be covered in dirt/snow/ice. Volvo trucks were the first to bring aerodynamic trucks to North America with the VN models. I actually drove one of the first bunch of VN610 models in Canada. Drivers hatted them at first, but I loved it compared to my old peterbilt truck. Made driving a truck a pleasure, warm and quiet. My only concern is the seating position and maybe the distance.
I have seen a lot of drivers stand on the steps while backing up! Gonna be a bit of a challenge with a center wheel. Maybe get the lumper to steer for you while you stand on the steps. LOL
I started out with freight shakers, (Cheap) Then got a Volvo, Then got my W9 Id never go back. But it all depends on taste, I like the ride better, love the way she looks and that Cat will out pull anything on the road, Ill even put it up against an electric vehicle lets start on west coast see who get to east coast first lol
listening to Tesla engineers is so refreshing. These guys leave no stone unturned. From talking about how the extra motors are engaged to looking at injury claims to make the vehicle safer for the driver.
They don't care about injury claims at all .. the seating in the middle doesn't allow drivers to use a lane stripe as a natural guide... on a vehicle that is 8 1/2 feet wide. Why Leno was all over the road = sitting in the middle. Middle seating is more dangerous.. and a downgrade not an upgrade.

What people don't talk about is the the twisting torque diesels apply to the entire length of the frame. The tesla motors rotate the same as the axles and are located between the wheels. It's like having all the acceleration power and breaking at the trailer pin. What a stark difference.

The typical single EV car battery requires over 100,000 pounds of dirt to be dug(destroying farmland & nature) and this semi battery probably requires over a million pounds dirt to be moved. That said, it is already extremely common for indoor industries to use battery powered equipment whenever possible. Forklifts and material handling equipment at warehouses and plants are most commonly battery electric. It makes working conditions significantly better. Large equipment though, and mining and industrial equipment is still diesel powered due to the technology for them being strictly electric hasn't been developed yet. While we CAN do it, these machines cost multiple millions of dollars and cause massive amounts of loss when the equipment fails. Diesel and hydraulic technology is well developed and reliable, so until battery electric has proven itself reliable with a few decades of real world use in each segment, diesel heavy equipment will continue to be used.
Except for one little problem, they can't drive themselves. Also, how is the electricity made to power those trucks - we burn coal and have to use more energy to produce and install the infrastructure for EVs. It's all a lie. Elon would be focused on developing green energy technology, not selling false promises and manipulating legislation (bribe) to have the tax payer subsidize his companies, if he was more concerned with helping the environment than being the richest person in the world.

I’ve been a driver for over 30 years and not into technology that much but what I am hearing this sounds like it’s a game changer for the driver’s experience, gotta say I wouldn’t mind taking one for a spin. Living in Colorado Springs and driving mostly the Rockies I will be interested to see how these do in the high mountains on the passes in the cold. It does sound nice not having to come out to a cold truck in the winter.
I wonder how prone the motors will be to overheating, not only on ascents, but descents as well, considering how much they are relying on regenerative braking, which is essentially running the motor in reverse and still produces quite a lot of heat. I'd be really interested in seeing this get some heavy testing in Colorado with the max rated load, up and through the Eisenhower tunnel.
@@snaplashthese very rarely will get charged to 95-100%. Those last 10% of charge take the longest. These trucks will be running almost 24hr days. Charge when you load/unload. Leave with about 75-85% state of charge. You have full regen and have enough range to make deliveries
Mr Leno is a genius. Throughout his career, he has proven his an electoral as well as human prowess. He is a kind man who has entertained us for decades, to which I personally am so thankful.
It weights twice as much as a Diesel powered unit. It doesn’t cost $1,500 in fuel for an average trip with Diesel, more like $300 - $600. $200,000 in fuel savings is offset by being able to carry less freight to meet the 80,000 gvw requirement because the tractor itself weights 20,000lbs more than a diesel unit.
Pour one out for the Sound Engineers who worked on this one - there are freaking _Jets_ taxiing in the background!!! Great job team! It's a Helluva truck, I hope it fulfills the environmentally friendly aspects of powering it, as promised!
Well the typical EV car requires over 100,000 of earth to be dug for each battery, this semi probably requires well over million pounds of dirt to be moved for its battery pack. The Tesla Cyber Truck battery weighs 3,100 pounds(my dad's 1985 Dodge Ram long bed truck weighs 3,800LB) and the Cyber truck's total weight is 7,100 pounds(how is that environmentally friendly). Now these batteries will need to be replaced every eight to ten years(Cyber Truck battery costs over $20K to replace) and not much in recycling happening, so what happens to all these batteries at the end of their cycle life? And lets not forget that EV's are 20% harder on tires than ICE vehicles.
@@vanillaexplosion99 yeah unfortunately the Semi isn't very good at its one job. Towing. PepsiCo is using it mainly for chips which have hardly any weight at all and for transporting stuff like that I'm sure its great, but otherwise it's really bad. Volvo released an electric truck that is good at towing because it's not focusing on things like 0-60 times and futuristic tech and rather balancing towing capacity with range. Mercedes also has one but they only sell in the EU.
The Daimler BEV (all-battery) freight truck pack is 550kwh. Judging by claims of longer range, I expect Tesla freight truck packs are larger. This point is important based on how limited battery resources are distributed. I'm an advocate for plug-in hybrid PHEV tech for big rigs. Small battery packs for PHEV passenger cars likewise distributes battery resources more broadly. My rough estimate is - for a single '1' BEV freight truck, as many as "500" household PHEVs is possible. Divide the freight truck BEV pack into 5 PHEV packs and the same battery resource could deliver 5x the number of miles before depletion and expensive replacement. At some point, combustible hydrogen in a PHEV+H drivetrain will corner the market because hydrogen stores at significantly lower pressure in smaller-safer tanks and could deliver more than twice the equivalent MPG possible with fuel cell HFCEV tech. Toyota's Marai fuel cell in that regard is a mistake.
@@DrKoneko Where did you come up with that? Real world testing at the "Run On Less" event over 18 days, 3 Tesla semi's hauled up to 80,000 lbs GVW and completely verified all of Tesla's range claims. Pepsi hauls beverages, not just chips.
As a truck driver and subscriber to this channel I'm always impressed how much of a command Jay has of driving so many varied vehicles. I'd kind of like to see him drive a traditional semi with a fully loaded trailer and double clutching as well as slip shifting it. Maybe in a simple 8 or 10 speed.
I'm not a fan of electric for cars (I own two Camaros with manual transmissions, people like me are gonna give up their V8s and stick shifts only on their death beds), but this is absolutely fantastic for the heavy duty trucking business. Lower operating costs, no sooty exhaust, far more comfortable operating cab than any traditional rig. This is gonna be a major hit with fleets and I think drivers will love them too. Easy to drive safely and productively. That's exactly what you want for your OTR truckers. If Kenworth, Peterbuilt, and Freightliner aren't paying attention here they're already on life support.
Exactly, if the economics are right and the experience and infrastructure is good then people will convert to electric. Some will still stick with combustion engines out of preference which is totally fine.
what utter drivel. Electric trucks have been about for decades and failed every time. Large loads need large diesels and extremely large loads need diesel-electric motors. When I first saw the Semi-Truck I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I had seen but now, as I get used to it, I see that it is actually very attractive given its aerodynamic brief. That is the measure of a great design and forward thinking designer I think that after the initial "shock of the new" we finally reach acceptance. Stepping into new territory about what a future truck should look like
Yeah, you can tell they really kept the tesla brand in the design. I think it's a very handsome truck, I ly time will tell the real world numbers, but the maintenance/gas costs alone will make it an intriguing option even if the drive time will be neutered.
It has nothing to do with design. Its the fact that it cant pull as much as a diesel truck. Please look at the criticism of the truck to understand how stupid this thing is. I thought they were great at first then i learned the specs compared to diesel.
You have no idea what you are talking about. This thing is useless. It is technically not easily feasible and it’s also pointless both economically and ecologically. You see, freight companies don't choose the vehicles for their design or the ridiculous torque... they chose such vehicles that can haul the biggest weight and have a high range. This Tesla can barely haul anything. Talking about the design. Ask just about any trucker... it's a horrible design and a nightmare for any trucker. The driver sits in the middle. This makes overtaking or looking ahead more difficult. But it also makes it impossible to reach out of the window to pass the paperwork or to talk with the guy in the gatehouse when you enter a port or a factory or, say, a tollbooth. The doors are in the back. You enter, hang your coat, and then have to walk a few steps forward to sit behind the wheel. This means that you are wasting cab space for a corridor basically. You can't place a bed there so the driver can rest, because there are doors there. Even getting in and out of the Tesla Semi seems to be a hassle. And if you want to get out from the right side, you need to go over the passenger's seat that interlocks with driver's seat so you can't just walk in front of it like in a standard cab. And sometimes you need to get out to the right - I did it today as had deep snow on my left. Also the rear doors will make it harder to keep the truck's cab clean. I can go on and on and on. The bottom line is that this vehicle is a rich boy's toy, not a practical, working vehicle because its designers have no clue about the realities of transport. Man having those siding pieces on the back of the cab being able to move helps a lot if you get in a tight turn you don’t mess them up hitting them with the trailer
He said when they were towing it weighs around 67,000 lbs which is 6.7 times what a normal one weighs meaning a driver will not be able to pick up as heavy as a load as a normal semi will be able to.
As a trucker for 9 yrs I believe this needs to be on the market to help bring change. Cause there’s a lot of practices in transportation that doesn’t synergize
i heard it takes more power to charge a fleet of 10 of these things than it does to power a small town.. i mean electric is cool and all but you will never get the same energy density out of a battery as fossil fuel...
@@warmfreeze I heard the same. I mean the benefit for owner operator and fleets is there with the numbers on paper. And they’re engineering from real situations. My biggest concern about the pouch for electric is the infrastructure and all purpose use. The government is not swift with fixing roads. So the technology on the current trucks malfunctions so I’m concerned about how will it handle being used like that. Then also part of infrastructure is the breakdown. What if you have a problem need to be towed how long will downtime will be. So there’s still legitimate concerns and questions that need to be ask and brought up.
True, but that is an issue with generating power, and the answer always was nuclear, as obviously the coal plants can barely hang, and peeps´s "All needed and good already is" is what made countries dependent on them, and you cannot build 5 times more coal plants around, if you want more power. The energy from a few shovels of fuel beats trains worth of coal, and transfer by wire is still 85+% efficient for 100s of miles, how can hauling tangible tanks beat THAT, the maintenance of a nuclear plant is peas compared to the energy, and the strain on infrastructure. So, when we diddled around the last few decades, fusion is coming, but nuclear is still by Far the best source, by very much, and very far. @@warmfreeze There were only fringe dips into what could be used for better batteries, but there is lots of overlapping know how, and ideas, and materials, from elsewhere. The most improvement in electrics was of safety of nuclear plants, and foolproofing, after Chernobyl went AWOL with testing despite multiple clear as day signs, which eventually melted the reactor, all because of their psycho supervisor, and this was a point of talks and protesting against nuclear for 20 yrs. There was close to zero betternment in batteries for 30 yrs. People were playing with solar and wind and what not, while nuclear was always there and good since the 90s, and batteries weren´t seen as needed as much by most, and we spent a generation stagnating. You can get 20% of energy as real work out of a gas vehicle, but you get over 50% from electric after charging and discharging losses, with say 10% plant to consumer loss, you get 40%, without tanks of fuel and transportation around the world, and thanks to motors being generators, you get back when you break and descend, so even more, while saving breakes. It all hinges on sources beyond fossil, nuclear and fusion if it ever works, but nuclear alone can give 20 times what we need. There is lots of real estate as far as energy containment, and when batteries become efficiently degradable, with 2.5 - 5 times the charge, the thing will take off at 200x the speed. Rail is still king though. Heavy gas trucks to have other trucks running is not needed.

How? Being parked long periods of time watching Netflix waiting the truck to be recharged? A modern Diesel engine is far more efficient for long hauling heavy loads. BEV truck make more economical sense for the Delivery sector, or if the battery pack is integrated on the trailer.

26:52 Jay mentions he wants the screens swapped maybe. Can immediately see the engineer go to work in his head "how can we make these switchable?" or similar. As others have said its refreshing to see design that makes sense. Cant wait to see where these go after more iterations. Another thing awesome to note is how they want to innovate the industry. Bring in younger drivers. Make it comfy. Make it usable. My opinion: they need hella chrome--dont leave the polishers behind. They also could utilize that massive cabin headspace for OTR applications.
This is easy, mobile app with your configuration profiles. Auth controlled by fleet management so they can assign you a truck, you can walk out to it and start it with your phone and it will configure the screens to your pref. They probably just haven't done that yet because it is low hanging fruit relative to the other things they need to worry about and don't want to need to support custom screen configuration support calls on top of everything else at this point.
Would love to see a real old-school trucker doing the review, going through the full sequence: driving his actual rig, unloading the trailer, switching to the tesla semi, loading the trailer, driving through a weigh station, driving to a delivery point, etc.

Butt you can only look out one side of the truck. Wouldnt it be better sitting in the centre using the videos and mirrors?
Unlikely for the cameras to be covered considering where they are positioned. Unless you never clean them I suppose it could build up over time.

At certain age, people should not be driving anymore, but here we are...
I dont know about the driving aspect but from a member of the public I would say I look forward to it being quiet with no fumes. A profound improvement on diesel engines.
Fumes and noise are two of the main advantages of diesel.
Where do you think humans get most of their electricity? By burning coal! This creates more carbon than diesel trucks. Also you talk about the quiet part? The trailer carries a diesel engine to keep food cold. It’s loud like a lawnmower engine. I know b/c i happen to be a truck driver
@@loading...7583 That is not true, natural gas provides about double what we get from coal (in the US). The percentage from renewables is now on par with coal.
Electric motors have been around since the late 1800's. Engineers have known for decades that electric motors ouperform any ICE engine. The only limiting factor to EV's are its battery composition.
Especially on stretches of the i80 through the mountains where there’s crazy amounts of downhill and sweeping turns, I can see the regen braking ability to be a total game changer making it safe and not worrying about roasted brakes!
You could easily end up with a battery fire or if there isn’t enough ullage a brake failure and no regen available. We shall soon see
@@theairstig9164 - You need to do a little research on electric vehicles. A Tesla battery catching on fire is a very rare thing. ICE fires happen at a 10x rate compared to Tesla battery fires. The brakes on a EV still get used at every stop light. But most of the wear on the pads are eliminated with regen braking. The brakes last a lot longer and require less maintenance.
@@donm2255Difference is a person who carry’s a fire extinguisher in their car can put out a car fire before it destroys the car, a EV car fire cannot be put out by the driver. EV battery fires are much more difficult to put out, and also the location of the batteries make it very difficult to put out the fire.
😂 how does it get up the hill first? by magic hahaha?
@@donm2255DONT TALK DRIVEL! The Teslas here in UK get parked in Scotland up a huge yard near Ediburgh airport and its known for fires being rife in the place so much so that they need to park the cars away from each other with a gap and had to fit millions of pounds of fire suppression exuipment next to the M8 motorway end of the yard. This facility has caught fire many many times so you can just quit talking tripe already. We all know how bad these batteries are, they are scientifically unstable so you aint fooling nobody pal.
I can imagine it'll give extra flexibility in places like indoor arenas where being exhaust-free they could drive around inside bringing the load right to where it is needed.
I'm old enough to remember not being bothered by cigarette smoke, at all. Now it all seems so stupid. What are smokers thinking.
Also old enough to remember my eyes burning when I came into LA. Man, that smog was like thick fog. Ever seen a kid with bad asthma? Breaks your heart. We don't need it.
An additional benefit is silence. You can operate with loading and directly, clearly communicate with everyone around without raising your voice.
We do this already with diesel trucks. Power Only is the agent of trucking that pulls event loads from stadium to stadium. About 4 years ago I was moving them regularly with a 30 year old truck without issue. Drove right into the, Saints in Louisiana I want to say, and parked up next to the other 2 trucks also getting loaded.
Most stadiums already have indoor and underground docks, so driving into the stadium itself wouldn't really be a benefit since there aren't docking bays in the middle of a stadium floor, heh.

Living in Colorado Springs and driving mostly the Rockies I will be interested to see how these do in the high mountains on the passes in the cold. It does sound nice not having to come out to a cold truck in the winter.
dont you have like a webasto night heater
I wonder how prone the motors will be to overheating, not only on ascents, but descents as well, considering how much they are relying on regenerative braking, which is essentially running the motor in reverse and still produces quite a lot of heat. I'd be really interested in seeing this get some heavy testing in Colorado with the max rated load, up and through the Eisenhower tunnel.
Google Run on Less Pepsi you will get some answer there .
@@snaplashthat's a cool question. Quite an edge case I would guess.
@@snaplashthese very rarely will get charged to 95-100%. Those last 10% of charge take the longest. These trucks will be running almost 24hr days. Charge when you load/unload. Leave with about 75-85% state of charge. You have full regen and have enough range to make deliveries

Lower operating costs, no sooty exhaust, far more comfortable operating cab than any traditional rig.

Exactly, if the economics are right and the experience and infrastructure is good then people will convert to electric. Some will still stick with combustion engines out of preference which is totally fine.

Stepping into new territory about what a future truck should look like
Yeah, you can tell they really kept the tesla brand in the design. I think it's a very handsome truck, I ly time will tell the real world numbers, but the maintenance/gas costs alone will make it an intriguing option even if the drive time will be neutered.
this truck is very fugly,lol.
I agree. However I still think the Cyber Truck looks goofy - even after seeing it in person. Good for competition I guess.
The bottom line is that this vehicle is a rich boy's toy, not a practical, working vehicle because its designers have no clue about the realities of transport.

i heard it takes more power to charge a fleet of 10 of these things than it does to power a small town.. i mean electric is cool and all but you will never get the same energy density out of a battery as fossil fuel...
@@warmfreeze
There were only fringe dips into what could be used for better batteries, but there is lots of overlapping know how, and ideas, and materials, from elsewhere.
