Hey Luke, I always get on your case for not using your long spoon to stir your coffee instead of the wrapper sleeve the coffee comes in. Let me share with you why it's important for me to hear the clanging of the spoon pinging against the cup. Here's my story. I grew up on Long Island pretty poor. However, I had a great childhood in the 60's camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, playing army in the woods all in my area. We didn't need a boatload of money back then, but I knew we didn't have much in the way of financial things. I guess we made up for it in a loving family, me, my sister, my mother, father and grandmother. It was a tiny house but we got by. I have fond memories of my childhood. I didn't want to be poor as an adult. My dad worked in a factory and my mom did side sewing work at home on occassion. We always managed to scrape by. I did apply myself in school and sports. Had a great career in both. I'm 70 years old now can't get around much that's why I enjoy your videos. Back to the spoon. Many times I slept on the living room couch next to our kitchen. My dad, a WWII hero who was in the Navy fought in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In fact he was on 13 different ships that were torpedoed and survived every one. He only talked about the War on a few occasions. I wish I asked him more at the time. My Uncle who was wounded in the battle of the buldge, but survived after a year in a French hospital told me more about my dad and the war before he passed at age 93. My dad passed in 1999 at 73 years old. He was an amazing human being. Hardworking, loving and kind. I remember our early morning flounder fishing trips on Long Island Sound. Just him and me. Again, back to the spoon. He would get up every day at 4:30am to make coffee. He would drink a whole pot and leave for work about 5:45am. I would always get woken up while sleeping on the couch by the continous clanging of his spoon off his ceramic coffee cup. I would then get up and do my homework at the kitchen table and we would talk. That was our time. He's gone now as is the entire rest of my family. I'm the only one left. So the clanging of the spoon brings back fond memories for me. So, when you can, please use the spoon to stir your coffee. It brings a warm feeling to this old disabled man,'s heart now.😊
Beautiful memory…. And I understand it completely…. My dad memory was falling asleep on the carp ride home and hearing the wiper blades thump , the sound of the tires over the seams in the road and the squeak of his wet rubber soles on the break peddle….
Love camping vicariously through you Luke. Love a good storm. I would have stayed snuggled in the tent for a few more hours just listening to the rain and wind. Thank you for your vlogs from a 62 year old lady in Australia
I am a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, we used to take our boys camping all the time. Watching you brings back good times. You and Susie are like an extension of my family, love you two and always stay close at heart with your childern.❤😊
Bro, myself, my dad, and my buddy tent camped in South East Oklahome during the hurricane. That Wednesday day into the next morning was INSANE. Luckily, our tent held strong, no leaks, and the only thing hurt was our sleep due to the noise of the rain lol. It was SO loud on the tent with how hard it was raining.
Thanks to you, Lone wolf 902 and Kent Survival I can count on a weekly video. I gave up on most others (won’t mention names). Thanks for always being there.
Hey Luke, greetings from down under, just wanted to let you know, watching your videos, helped me get through a bad time in my life (tumour in in my sinuses), and have continued to watch since, Strength and Honour, sir. Keep up the awesome work.
I really love that you talk to us. I do watch some others that have no talking, and they are still interesting, but it is more satisfying to me to hear your thoughts.
Hey Luke. Francine came right up the Mississippi River. So we pretty much got it. The wind was pretty strong but not like we’ve had it before. The most we got was the rain. We really needed it so it was a blessing. She came and went. Now we’re back to dry weather. We’re blessed. Your videos are the best and I appreciate all I learn by watching. Gonna sit back and watch. Till we meet again ~ God Bless and you safe.
Some of my favorite You Tube channels are on break. They are outdoor travel and adventure channels. It seems that most of my current You Tube feed is mostly talking heads. Luke, I'm glad you're still braving the storms, outside, in nature.
I've become rather disillusioned with some British channels who've kind of moved away from wild-camping. One now has changed into a van-life channel which I couldn't care less about.
I stopped consuming so much coffee and tea while camping. I bring packets of bone broth instead. Downing that much caffeine wasn't good for me and the stuff stains your teeth. I might have a cup, not mug or tumbler, an actual cup in the morning, but broth turned out to be a better subsitute for a hot drink craving.
It also dehydrates you so bad my Dr couldn't get blood from me and kept blowing my veins and at one point the blood started coming out all of a sudden it stopped and the blood done some vacuum type thing and started sucking back up so then they yanked the needle out fast it was creepy and they had to watch me for like 2 weeks cause of it but the dr.ended up asking me what I'd been drinking the past few.days well with me being from the south I drink alot of sweet iced tea and then a bunch of coffee in the morning and one or two cups in the afternoon I used to not do that I had started it like 3 weeks before I went to the Dr well he called the hospital said he was sending me to get me back there fast and to hook me up to an iv of fluids they gave me 6 bags of fluids I was insanely dehydrated and it's what was making me feel so bad and took my energy away and I was sleeping so horrible it was awful so I started one glass of tea a day one cup of coffee in the morning and water and fresh squeezed fruit juice since then and I've felt so much better so so much better crazy what that does to you ....
Luke, would you consider doing some multi day trips? I love what you do, but sometimes it would be nice to have a trip where you are out for longer rather than just set up, cook dinner, go to bed and go home. Also, longer trips are probably a better test of gear rather than just a quick overnight.
@johngalt6929 i don't know how you can thoroughly test gear by going out one night. He's bot even out for 24 hours. And then he always says he's tested a piece of gear dozens of times. When? You can't tell me he's going out that much more often than he does on video on other unfilmed trips.
Perfect gear testing weather. Anything can hold up when it's warm, dry and calm. When the weather gets like this, that's when your life starts depending on quality equipment. Thanks for this, Luke.
Hi Luke So happy to hear you chatting tons, was missing that in previous episodes. I think I love storms as much as you do. Hope Suzy is doing well, haven’t seen her in a while. Love your shows
Preach !!! I also live in the mountains, in PA though. I’m always struggling to find somewhere flat . I agree it plays a huge role in how you are able to set up your camp.
Rode my bicycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2022. Some beautiful country in that area. Do miss it. Come to the Gila wilderness Luke, better than Colorado and way less people. You can hike 5 days and not see a single person.
I have noticed very much the same thing. You and Andy from Kent survival are the only ones who put out videos on a weekly basis. I always post content pretty much every week unless my business gets too busy or there’s something personal. I need to handle. I hike, and sometimes camp.
Allways a pleasure to watch your adventures and listen to your thoughts ,look forward to the next one Luke ,all the best to you and your family ,From a long time subscriber ..Lincolnshire UK
Hey Luke this is Mark and I watch you all the time yeah I'm so glad that you and your wife and your dad are okay that was massive and I live in West Palm Beach so my turn God bless you brother
i quite often will go and sit quietly in the woods on my own, especially if I have been coaching earlier in the day. It gives me a bit of piece and normally after 15 to 20 minutes the wildlife starts to come back.
I’ve been eyeing that tent as well! Can’t wait to see the review. I use some of their gear and highly recommend their down. Customer service is beyond awesome 🤙
Hey Luke kuiu tents are awesome I have the storm star and I have been in winds up to 75 miles an hour absolutely bomb proof that's a fact. Great video and I hope you enjoy your mountain star again Great quality great tent You're going to love it. I'll be waiting for your next video.
Some of the video at the beginning was amazing how it captured clouds going by or was it fog. Either way it was mystical. This has been my favorite video. Thanks Luke.❤😊

I love your videos and I also liked the movie, it's strange, bad in a good way, a little difficult to explain, on another topic the moment you started setting up the tent I got goosebumps. I look forward to the review
I’m intrigued by the Fire Maple FMS-125 Pro stove Luke is using, it seems like a good one. BTW it is on sale now for $28.76 but you have to by it directly from Fire Maple and pay postage. I’m not alone even if I’m by myself because I’m Catholic and believe in God.
I camp all the time for decades. There was one day that we (three of us) decided to save some money traveling and set up a tent in a campground in the northern keys. A storm came in and lightning came in striking all around us close strike every few seconds. We piled on the air mattress and did not touch anything around us for an hour or more! I thought for sure we would end up toast!
My son and his friend were camping at Broken Bow State park in Oklahoma when Francine came through. Our Coleman tent held up to the fiercest rain I have ever experienced while camping. No leaks. No water ingress. It rained so hard we could barely hear each other.

Love the video this week. The Big Agnes sleeping pads have always served me well and been very comfortable and more affordable than the thermarest ones. It is worth giving them a try if you have a chance. I had one serve me through all of scouting. I have since replaced it after a leak around the valve. The new BA pad has lasted me many years and is still going strong. The vertical baffles are quite comfortable.
"This really is the perfect campsite." Ten seconds later. "This is really NOT the perfect campsite." Luke, make up your mind!! 😆 PS. You have Green Elephant poles. You can put the tarp ANYWHERE!!
Great video! Luke, you need to have some camping experiences that your followers can attend! Wouldn't that be a great idea? You can show us skills and products and we could dialogue on camera. What do you think?
Nice! I was also out camping last weekend in WNC. The nights were *very* windy and the days were mostly foggy with some light rain. My first two nights alone and my first bear encounter on the trail; had a great weekend!
Be serious - you stood on the left side with a wind and rain machine ... hahaha - I like your trips in stormy conditions. The tent looks very nice; I have a fjällraven which I also can trust in bad weather. Thanks for all your work, sharing with us your adventures.
It was such a weird storm, hit Louisiana and headed north east but pushed bands far west of it as well so it sprinkled for a full day straight here in Northwest Arkansas. Edit: Glad you got a piece of KUIU gear, I had been wondering about them. Looking forward to the review on it!

Thx for sharing that great story of the importance of spoon clanking. It made me smile warmly of your sweet memories
Hello from Germany. I like to be alone in the forest. I ❤ the stillness and the solitude in nature. I feel connected. Close to God.
Love camping vicariously through you Luke. Love a good storm. I would have stayed snuggled in the tent for a few more hours just listening to the rain and wind. Thank you for your vlogs from a 62 year old lady in Australia
Thanks for the review on the new Beetlejeus. That saved me $15.00 and wasted time. Now Reagan was excellent.
I am a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, we used to take our boys camping all the time. Watching you brings back good times. You and Susie are like an extension of my family, love you two and always stay close at heart with your childern.❤😊

Don't much care for silent videos.
I agree. Over the years I've come to the point that I know you by watching your videos. None come close. Thanks Luke!
Being outside in the forest alone…. Paradise
Thanks!
Thank you so much for supporting the channel as it really means a lot. Strength and Honor to you. - Luke
Hi Luke big fan of your videos I love the part where you set down your pack next to a tree and pull out your stuff and set up camp

Yes I have noticed the same thing about You-tube. You are consistent and I thank you for it!!
Never get tired of your stuff. Coffee time is the best!!!
Love the sound of the wind and rain!
I think we need an overnight trip with Luke using his all time favorite gear, just for our fun.
And I hope Luke loses another bet so Lucas can take care of his beard. Best bet wver 😂
I like watching the old movies like the 30's through the 50's. All the great actors. I think I've watched every western on youtube.
