    Just a tip but when you use a stick to hold up a tarp in the middle,take a tennis ball and cut a X slit in it and insert the ball on the tip of stick and it protects the tarp from from ripping.

      @@ChrisCollins001 You're right, but I'm glad this was posted. Since I always have my big dogs with me when I'm camping, I always have a couple of tennis balls with me so they can play fetch. Now they have a second use. I had never thought of that.

    Hey, I don’t understand some of these comments. I love the “competent and no drama” approach to Luke’s camping and channel. I like his “style” of camping. When I was a kid, and started camping without my parents for the first times, I was just busy setting up camp and all my hi school buddies were blown away because they knew NOTHING about the work involved, and I was just moving from one job to another, as they were doing the kid thing (like here) of standing around figuring out, bickering constantly and wasting a lot of time while I gave up and just got into the work. One thing I have gotten from this (and a couple other) channels I started watching just a year ago, is the GREAT usefulness of learning how to hang a tarp. I’m used to digging little trenches, spending more time stressing over the ground and level sleeping areas, stuff like that. Of course great campers use tarps for overhead protection, but I just never saw many in CA doing those techniques. Now that I’m retired and full-time in a van traveling and out of the van in tents camping in the forests I love and so many new areas I never visited, I’m going to learn how to make the shelter area more useful, larger, all that. Thanks Luke, great channel, good testing opinions, and fun to watch!

      People have told me I'm OCD because I like to keep things organized (to some extent) in my daily life but in Luke's case and mine it's not really OCD....it's a matter having everything in the right place so you know where it is when needed....also proper packing means the load is balanced and not having to dig for it....

    Wow, a rare glimpse of Luke setting up a tarp/tent camp done right👍 Way to go Luke, I know you test tents and need them in the open but this is the choice way when not testing. Biscuits and sausage gravy like SOS is an American icon, some folks outside the US have no idea what they're missing. I've watched the Japanese campers use those wire mesh fire pits for years, surprisingly they hold a lot of weight and retain the ash for easy clean up which is mandatory in Japan. Nice adventure, great video, thanks for the work. See ya soon.

      @brianbritton3175 8 месяцев назад +12

      Tents with a lack of a floor can be for different purposes. Heated tents often don’t have one, or it’s removable. Due to cold weather and the fireplace it’s easier to not have the floor in. Also when it’s really cold people switch to sleeping on cots, which can easily damage tent flooring. Then there’s ice fishing tents which lack a floor so you can drill through the ice.

    Camping without beer is just sitting in the woods. The storm is nice, but it would be better with beer. LOL! Raining with the sun out just means it will rain again tomorrow. It an old Indian myth but, I'm Cheyenne and in my 70 years' experience it proves true more often than not. I like Turkeys too, they taste great. Seriously, I love your video's, and the ger info. Keep it up.

    Thanks Luke really enjoyed your camping adventure. I like the tarp for the extra dry space around the tent. I need to learn to set one up and tie it off.

    I really love the rain storm and snow episodes. Sciatica keeps me from hiking and camping so I go with Luke and Susan. 😂

      Doesn't matter to me we're ever you camp I like private property as well .I like camping on the very top of a mountain as well. These good ole camping sites are good to check out your equipment before you travel far and the most of all I'd love to own my own mountain top.

    I am late on.
    But love that you make metric labels for us residing in the other parts of the world! Thanks!
    Love your content! Your stormy weather pieces are awesome. But great reviews too!
    I got the nature hike chair before I watched you and just love it.
    Seems good enough for me to the fraction of the price of the others.

    Im from Northwestern England and love biscuits and gravy. Biscuits here are like savoury scones. But Mixing milk with sausage meat is unheard of over here but delicious. All the best from Lancashire.

    Hi Luke! Another superior adventure! That portable fire pit is one of the most interesting I've ever seen! So light and portable! Can't wait to see you review it. Biscuits and Gravy are just a staple here in the South, but I enjoyed them even when I lived in the North. With or without meat, even with different types of gravy it's a great meal! Something I haven't had in a long time is biscuits with brown gravy. Going to have to make that soon! Anyway, have a great weekend everyone!

    Honestly it’s pretty awesome that you have that shelter out there. Could save the life of a lost hiker or camper stuck out there. Should build more in my opinion.
