It's the start of winter here in Tasmania we've had solid rain for the last 24hrs and forecast 48hrs more before we get a reprieve, one of the many things I like about this channel is you actually camp in all conditions and you stick it out in true outdoors enthusiasts do, keep posting Luke your channel is definitely one of the best on RUclips mate
Whoa, such a lucky person you are to live there. Tassie is gorgeous. Just walked Overland track late May and to my surprise not a single drop of rain the entire hike. Was secretly hoping for 1 miserable weather day lol. But good thing is I have the entire track for myself!
2 days into summer here in Slovenia. Temps of about 38`C as of right now CEST 21H
heavy thunderstorms with hail big as a teniss balls
Make a channel mate you would bring us into your side of the world js
thing is, hes lucky. They can camp over there without risk of everything killing them. Jack jumpers, spiders, snakes... just to name 3. AU is not camp friendly.
Luke needs to Visit Australia
Luke, I've been following you for about 5 years now when I began backpacking, even though I can't do the things I use to because of age, your videos still inspire me to get outdoors, thank you
I absolutely love that photo with the lightening, it's gorgeous!
That's a great and lucky photo.
Thank you Luke. I admire your efficiency, lightheartedness, intelligence and willingness to teach. God Bless you in your travels! Looking forward to seeing Suzie back on the road with you again. Many Blessings!
Wow, that photo of lightning highlighting the rain curtain is one in a million! I love your rain storm camping vlogs....soothing in my estimation.
The lightening and rainwall photo is awesome!!
Thank you for mentioning me in your video Luke. Your videos are the best and I love your journeys adventures reviews stories and long films. I truly enjoy these adventures and always excited for your new videos! I want to really thank you for making such amazing content and I know the hardwork and effort you put into it and so I want to support you in your work. Your videos have always been an inspiration and awesome! Cheers!! 😍🎉👏👏
That photo with the dark sky, the curtain of rain and the awesome lightning strike was a brilliant shot...much to your surprise. Super adventure, Luke. I love it when you chat as though we were actually there in person. I hope your heel recovers soon so you can do the Creeper Trail hike.
Your videos are my favorites. That photograph of the lightning and rain was more than spectacular. I love the humor and useful information you provide in each video. And your food reviews are priceless. Keep up the good work. We appreciate you more than you could know.
These new nature shots and ASMR are really good, keep it up
Thanks Luke for this great video, really like camping in the rain 🌧 there's something about storms that are peaceful and calming. Take care and stay safe 👍
I love the lightning picture!! I love storm camping with you. Stay safe out there.
Great setup Luke, the rain and thunder is so relaxing.
Listening to your story about the guy getting fired for braiding the extension cord, that was stupid for your friend to do. My ex BF was a contractor and used to do the same thing with his cords so they wouldn't tangle. It wasn't a braid but you'd pull the cord through itself, I can't easily describe how its done. It only takes a couple of seconds longer to do and it was way quicker than trying to untangle the cords that are wrapped around someone's arm. Your friend fired a guy who was actually being efficient.
The guy who got fired will go on to much bigger and better things and someone will appreciate his attention to details.
@@jonathanbarrett3390 I hope so, the boss sounds like someone who I wouldn't want to work for
The photo is beautiful!! 😍 it captures the lightning just as if its about to cut thru the rain curtain approaching....to me😊 beautiful pic, thank you for sharing.
Awesome lightning and rain cloud!
I love these videos. I could have had the worst day but then Luke treks out into the wilderness, in the rain & thunder, sits under the trees & just appreciates being alive. Really puts things into perspective. Thanks 😊
Every one of my tarps have 20 foot of paracord at each corner and one ready as a ridge line. 1 quick butterfly knot, 1 wrap around a tree and a truckers hitch. Takes just as long as you twirling your rope trees and branches and making your quick release knot, and the trucker hitch is designed to be easily released. Best thing about this knot is when using silnylon material you can tighten or slacken as you need too. Even if this adds 5 seconds per knot it is a far superior set up and taken down faster.
I usually pre make my butterfly by the corners so even quicker. Another added benifit to the truckers hitch is no mater the tension it doesnt binde so no need for tree wraps.
I love the photo! It's something I would put on my wall.
Great video Luke and the tarp setup is exactly the way I do my tie outs so easy and quick, tie it out and up and done, nothing fancy for me. your camp area looks amazing.
On the extension cord braid, my experience with it has been that it is less tangled when you unwind it compared to a typical “roll” around the arms for storage, and the cord lasts longer because the internals aren’t being twisted as much, so long as you do it right lol. Storage is bulkier, but I don’t agree that the dude shoulda been fired for it, it takes the same amount of time and could possibly save time on untangling the mess a typical roll would have. My .02, but if he just braided it to make it look good with no intent on saving time, that’s a different story. Love the content Luke!
yep. daisy chain extension cord. it's preferred by many. it's much better for the cord; doesn't twist it.
yea i agree i do it every once in a while and its take about the same amount of time, if it is the way im thinking
I agree. Sounds like a labor lawsuit.
Exactly. I came to make the same comment. Protects the wire, prevents tangles, much faster to deploy. If this is what happened, the boss is an ahole.
Agreed
The story about braiding the cord is called a fireman’s braid. It is a very fast efficient way to coil up a cord. You can braid it up as fast or faster then coiling around your arm. And it is tangle proof. As you said with your knots, you need to know what your talking about. That boss fired him for coiling the cord a fast, efficient way.
That photo was fantastic just beautiful. Would be a nice framed picture. Myself I am scared to death of thunder and lightening but do appreciate the beauty of something so powerful and potentially dangerous. Glad you share.
Hey Luke Linda again. I truly love your laugh! your wife is a luckily woman and so r your children! u r the best on you tube! love u dude!
Absolutely beautiful lightening photo!
Nice place to camp out. Love your camping videos
That is an AMAZING PICTURE!!!! 🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful nature 👍
I love nights like this, you sleep very deep!
That was a great photo. I only wish I had the patience to attempt photography. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures, I love this area.
Interesting knot lecture. Could you do a couple of shorts that show tying, attaching, and other information about them.
Luke, that picture is amazing. Love your camping trips. Healing prayers to your foot
Love you and your show, you are very kind to you viewers
Just love these kind of videos from Luke - LUKE - am loving these videos. Wishing I were there. I've seen your creeper walk - and also the year with Suzie and you doing it together.
That's a phenomenal photo capture of the lightning you pulled off. Well done.
I love this "inside" video. It explains a lot of details that most videos overlook. Thank you.
Fantastic lightening photo, Luke. Very atmospheric. All the best from Chatham, UK.
Watching from Birchington......small world
To be lucky enough to capture a lightning strike at the instant it happens is one in a million.
And I love your RUclips channel. You are one in a million!
I do Love Lighting and Thunder ..... Grew up in WV .Really enjoy your adventures on trail .😊 ❤ BE SAFE wherever You an Susie travel and go to Camp 🏕
Wow that picture is amazing!
ILove your videos..very methodical warm cozy and ready and ample to go.You make things look so nice..I love your coffee deal your delicious meals.and the way you set up everything.
I agree that’s a beautiful picture should make it into a poster and make it available with your Murch. I would definitely purchase one.
I wonder why it is so restful hearing rain and thunder in a tent. I love this episode. I think the snake is a milk snake - in the UK we only have 3 types, Smooth, Grass and Adder. Only the adder is venomous. I've seen both a grass and adder but never seen a smooth snake though.
Wow you really know how to rock and roll 😂 enjoyed the video.
The picture was beautiful AF.. lol. I appreciate the video and thank you for the awesome info.
Red on black, friend of Jack. King snakes are awesome
That rock is not only crazy heavy, but you have also had to move it around plenty on this trip!😊 MY TAKE ON KNOTS: I cannot remember how to tie many of them, even after having had good, clear lessons. I DO believe that specialty knots serve particular purposes better than my average camp knots. I heed the advice: 'Can't tie a knot? Tie a lot!' I just learned from you today about the function of stress-relief wraps.
It is such a cool picture. Good job. Luke 😊❤
Different schools. My training on knots is from the Navy. I'm sure the Army is the same. Knots are taught a specific and rigorous way due to working in crews. The person that ties the knot may not be the same person that has to untie it. But, as long as every member of the crew is taught the same knots, it doesn't matter. Anyone can untie any knot another member as tied. I keep about 20 in my head. On my tarp, my non adjustable end is two half hitches and a bite. My adjustable end is a trucker's hitch . My guy lines are taughtline hitches. It might also depend on the type of trees in the area. Here in Arizona mahy of our pine trees do not have lower branches to tie to.
Anyway, I'll crawl off my soap box, Someone mentioned to me that French MREs are quite the treat if you happen to run across any. Thanks for making the video Sir.
A once in a lifetime shot...what a beautiful photo 🌲🏕🔥
that photo was awsome!!!!!!!!!!11 loved it!
Thankyou for an amazing photo 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Depends on tying slip note usually is my go to. Quick easy simple. Next knot I use is a bosman knot. Final knot is a half hitch knot. My top three knots, all depends what im tying down
Beautiful Luke!!!
The sound of woodfire, rain and thunders....
So Earthy
OK I had to stop laughing before I could right this. Your face while eating that PERFORMANCE BAR was so hilarious I about died. Man that made my whole day.
hi Luke. Love u man! U r the bomb about all your video! U truly know your stuff, I can tell trust me! I'm Linda I'm 64 and have been watching u for 2 yrs. From Philly but not my whole life but pretty much. Luke love your videos big time! u always do such a great job! U r the man!
Nice setup Luke the picture with the lighting bolt is awesome beautiful moon rain so tranquil thanks for sharing stay safe
One of your best, Luke - the pic of the lightning was spectacular. Watching you break down the camp and get it all in that backpack was something extremely useful that isn't presented enough. Sorry about the MRE - you eat those because you have to, not because you're up for a culinary experience. From experience I can tell you that if you're hungry enough those beanie-weenies are pure ambrosia. Thanks for a great video!
Beautiful photo!!!!!
Beautiful picture, frame worth for sure.
I love this adventure! The picture you took was totally amazing! Great job, thanks for sharing!
Hey Luke, I used to live in the Boone area for 15 years, so I enjoy watching your videos!! Snake similar to what I call a Rat Snake. Non-Venomous. I tried for years to get lightning in my photos using a 35mm camera. I had tons of slides and lost them in a house move somehow. Your photo is award winning! I miss living in Western NC!! I now reside in the Roanoke area. Lots of recreational opportunities around here with the AT nearby and National Forest. My favorite camping memory from NC is when I soloed up Grandfather Mt. from the Invershiel side. Amazing forest hiking up to the one of the ridges. I slept on a ground sheet just in a sleeping bag, just under the stars. Amazing. GrandDaddy Long leg spiders visited all night I think. I was up there to try and find a plane crash site. I had set up camp in a ferned floor with just conifers all around. It's a different world up there. Some of the places you camp are similar. If you ever are in Roanoke, please let me know. I can sort of show you around the area!! Good Luck!! That coffee you drink ...... I think it's your trademark. Coffee-Nasty !!
Thanks Luke!!
Kickass photo!
I try avoid snakes. Wow, that's a cool tent. Awesome photograph of the lightning. Beans and wieners, hell yeah it's hillbilly cuisine. The performance bar you could probably mix with a little and heat it up and it would melt. Time is something we can't get back. Love that campfire 🔥 the crackling makes me think of past adventures. A man and his rock; that thing looks super heavy.
That braid in that extension cord is how most keep them from getting tangled over everything, even rolling them can be a pain at times to streach out, that braid is ment to grab one end and walk with it and it comes out no effort required, I keep paracord like that some times.
Beautiful photo of lightening strike!
When I was in Scouts I was the Senior Patrol Leader and later I was the Assistant Scoutmaster after I got my Eagle Scout rank. I used to teach the new Scouts their knots. The one rule I had was one needs to keep the knots and hitches neat so you can untie them later. Personally I would do the knots I was trained and showed others. But I like what you did there, and more importantly it works for you. Great info thanks.
Your photo is awesome, Thank You for sharing.
Ive had a Little brother pack for probably 10 years, its been all over the world with me, fits perfectly in the overhead compartment.
very good shots of the storm!
Beautiful picture with the lightening! I HATE SNAKES! Sometime it would be nice to see a review with an SUV tent. You have inspired me to start camping again….as a single older woman I have to be careful with my spending 😢. Love the rain and thunder white noise! So relaxing!
That photo is beautiful.
Knots and the guys who take pride in them love the month of June
Great video, very informative and real cosy landscape , excellent camera work, and editing enjoyed it
Love that picture you took.
Beautiful hike. Beautiful snake. I rarely see them anymore. Fascinating always.
Hi Luke. The photo is beautiful. Thanks for another fun adventure. Be well.
Damascus is my home town❤, I live in Louisiana and it's just not the same. When you go again you should paint a rock for me and hide it lol... I hope you feel better Luke, I know all too well how it feels to hurt, I've been suffering with back pain since a wreck I was in and now I'm in the hospital not for my back pain but for something else, and yes I can't wait to start feeling better again. Hang in there I love watching you videos, I'm sitting in my hospital bed right now watching, it helps get me thru... God bless
Some people may colorize a great photo in red or blue, but good old black and white when properly exposed in my opinion is hard to beat. Thanks for sharing Luke!
That is a great pic!!
Great picture! Something to on the wall.
Great photo!!!
One of the best lightning photo that I've ever seen
Sorry worry about your , safely during thunderstorms and lightning. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing your experience .blessing to you and family

Wow that IS beautiful, in fact, I took it for my desktop background I like it so much haha :)
Thank you for the video Luke.
Danke Schön das sie mir das ansehen lassen und mir nicht schimpfen Sir
your photo of the storm was a second in time only you saw. I love watching you set around the campfire it takes me back to good times when I was young. I grew up in Lebanon Missouri until I was 13, my grandfather was born in 1881 and me my dad, uncle and grandpa would go down by the Neosho river build a fire like yours and listen to the dogs run allnight. Grandpa was in charge of the campfire and he always told me ,,,,that he was burning energy from the sun that had been caught up in the trees,,,, strength and honor
You nailed that shot. You've got a nice wall hanger. That lightning made eveverything pop.
Frame that photo! Epic!!!
That is a FINE FOTO! It proves that 'Fortune favors the Prepared Mind.'
Those birdies are chirping away

A Great saying paired with a breakdown of tips & tricks to help us all advance in the outdoors 🙏
Thank you!
I love the photo of the lighting, outstanding capture of God's work
He made it just so you could see it and capture 😊
A Granny knot will never come undone… unless it does….. and will make your ⛺️ trip so much more interesting 🤣🤣.
