Personally, I find Gammoth awe-inspiring. Just imagine, you're an ordinary traveler on a snowy mountain, fighting your way through a blizzard, when, all of a sudden, you hear thunderous footsteps. Then, you feel them. You rush off to the side to get out of the way, and, out of the swirling, freezing gales, strides this collosal titan of a beast. It either doesn't notice you, or isn't bothered by your presence-either way, it ignores you. The mighty creature continues to walk, so strong that the blizzard may as well not be there. This towering wall of power lifts up its massive trunk, and lets out a gigantic, incredible bellow, as if it's saying to the blizzard itself, "You will not shake me."
Alastair Rowe in the story trailer, right at the end behind the hunter while they’re facing down a Rathian you see Glavenus’s feet plus if you look at her wing spikes it’s damaged referencing the cutscene where they fought.
I was asked to get some Popo Tongues after the Abyssal Mushrooms quest and I landed on the Glavenus. I immediately assumed I was going to have a bad time, and brought every drug I had under the sun. I spent 48 minutes fighting this beast, and I am sure I will never, ever forget the fight for as long as I live. I remember sweating so hard trying to not die on the Gammoth. It had me on the ropes, my hunter was in poor armor and drugged up to hell, and it would just. Not. Die. I was doing the snowman shuffle under there, trying in between frantic attacks to drink potions so I wouldnt get sent back to camp. By the five minute mark it was showing no signs of slowing, and I thought I had lost. But damnit I screamed, if I was gonna go to hell I was at least gonna take that elephant with me. I had two minutes left when it finally fell. I carved the beast, reveled, got the goddamned tongues, and Farcasted, because I took EVERY drug with me. Best. Fight. Ever. Minus the Shaergu Magala.
Yup. Shagaru Magala's fight will always be the best because it is the most personal. That guy is your nemesis the moment you meet him. Congratulations for taking down the Gammoth on the Popo Tongue mission!
Pretty similar experience on my side. I managed to finish it a bit more safely and quicker thanks to having lots of experience in other title, but damn, that thing has quite the health pool! Was pretty sweaty after finishing it as well (and pumped full of Adrenaline lol)
I didn't even know you could kill the Gammoth on the first time the Popo Tongue quest is done. I just assumed it would be like the first time the Lagiacrus was encountered in 3U and just got the tongues and ran
I'm really starting to wonder if gathering Popo tongues is some kind of hazing ritual by the Pokke village chief. Also I hope Gammoth's introduction means more cool elephant monsters in the future!
I hope we get her in Sunbreak. I don't want to wait two more years for the MH 20th anniversary game to come out... if it'll even come out then. I want her now... Why is she so unpopular? Edit: It's two years later. She better be in Wilds, those maps definitely look big enough for her.
My guess would be that it’s harder to prgram for the new editions due to its unique body structure, and that it’s easier to modify already existing animation “skeletons” for other monsters, saving time and resources. Likely why Lagiacrus was not brought back either, which is a shame.
@@JohnnyLeyenda nah Lagi wasn't bought back cause both World/Iceborne and now Rise/Sunbreaks level design is incredibly uneven. Lagi, even the smallest ones, are massive. They would have to design a map just for it to fight on. They don't want monsters constantly clipping and glitching into terrain and when they tried to add Lagi to a gen 5 map they couldn't get it to work. You can see how clunky leviathans can get if you mount say a Almudron on shrine ruins and drag it from the muddy pond to one of the more enclosed fighting areas. It bugs out on walls and terrain. And Almudrons still smaller than Lagis in general, and has the benefit of when in swamp can half bury its model in the ground. To include Lagi we'd either need an entire map designed around fighting it in like like Generations did, or they'd have to shrink Lagi down. They instead opted to include smaller Leviathans like Mitsu and Ludroth.
@@TheDarkFable The big thing with lagi is, compared to other leviathans, it is much lower to the ground. Rather than holding itself up on 4 legs like the others, it drags its body around on land. This means there'd be so many points where the monsters body has to attach to the ground rather than just its 4 feet, and it just wouldn't work out with more complex terrain. Same applies to snake wyverns like najarala.
This was the first monster I ever tried to motivate: "Oh, come on, we can do this! Hit me! Do something! You're a friggin' matriarch, now go protect your people! No, don't run away..."

Honestly, why haven't they brought Gammoth back yet? Like I know it's only been two games but the whole main appeal and design of Fifth Gen and further is spectacle (such as giving every monster a laser beam), and similarly Gammoth's main draw is... being a spectacle.
It is bizarre that there is such a big difference of treatment from CAPCOM between Glavenus / Astalos / Mizutsune on one side, and Gammoth on the other. Sure, Gammoth was the least interesting one mainly due to being very big and slow, but it wasn't that bad.
They admitted in the 20th anniversary interview that the main reason Gammoth hasn't returned is because they find it difficult to fit into the games because of her sheer size
I have a question that I dying to know the answer to: Why is Gammoth the most hated of the Fated Four??? Like WHY!? I love Gammoth even though I've never fought her (I do have MHGen, but I haven't gotten to playing it yet).
Been a while since I played Generations or GU, but if I remember correctly with her being such a big target with much more sluggish moves compared to the others, it can feel as if she's just a big punching bag at times. Then looking toward the fluid and elegant moves of Mizutsune, the huge attacks from Glavenous ignited sword phases or the brutal and ferocious assaults of Astalos, the impression of her fight probably just didn't leave as much of a mark as the others. That said, her theme is probably my 2nd favorite out of the 4 after Astalos, and her armor looks amazing. But that's just my take on it
actually, i hate mizutzune and glavenus, glavenus earned my hate because he did a tekken combo and carted me, and mitzu, he is just very gimmnicky, i loved astalos and gammoth
I hope we get all of the Fated Four in Monster Hunter 6 and that Deviants return and that Violet Mizutsune and Acidic Glavenus also return and that Astalos and Gammoth also get a Sub or Rare Species.
Sadly the last update for world is Fatalis, which I'm not suprised... and I'm guessing the next MH Game is going to be classic ❤️ MH Which is most likely coming to the switch since the other team is making it.

How can you dislike gammoth more than either rathalos, rathian, Ludroth, Gigginox or Khezu. Those fights were god-awful, and none of them had any unique theme to back them up.

A bull gammoth quest would be like a lao Shan lung fight: you'd have to use cannons and the dragonator to deal with something that monstrous.
