What a wealth of knowledge and great teaching style, you make it so fun and easy to follow your lessons, been playing by ear for too long, now it's time to learn the notes on the fret board, going to make a chart of the fretboard with all the notes and hang it on the wall in front of me, for way too long I ignored the importance of knowing what I'm playing, even if I can survive in a cover band playing cords.
I love your playing style !! I am a bass player, and I use your instructional jams as a backing track for my bass playing....your riffs inspire me to bring more out of myself !! Thank you !

Thank you, Tomo, lovely stuff as always. You did invite requests (oops!), so here is mine. You mentioned today the late Peter Green. For me, Peter at his best was untouchable. He could find the most lyrical beauty, often in relatively simple phrases, and his choices always seemed to be so coherent and 'right'. Perhaps you could say something about that, and illustrate how each choice can make or break a whole song. Thank you!

You don’t need fancy just to play some blues. Great how you take a simple riff from Hide Away. Take that same riff over 3 or 4 different things. Turn one thing into 3or 4. Learn another thing turn that one into 3or 4. Now short time go’s buy and you just built alot of playing music. Man how fun is that!! We all can’t be Jimmy Vaughan but dam sure fun trying. Thks T.

Great video Tomo. I think a key mindset to approach this is also to not be afraid to make mistakes or get stuck and lost. I remember when I first started doing this and I was always getting lost but if you keep at it and applying what you learned you will find ways to get unstuck and over time not get stuck at all. I sometimes still get lost If im doing a song or even just an idea that ive just learned and dont know very well yet and that is ok! Just dont give up on it and it will work for you eventually

Find what you like and go for it is an awesome teaching philosophy. I was very fortunate to have a teacher who taught me the major scale in all keys and positions and one day said you like the blues okay here are the pentatonic scales in.major and minor and here is the blues scale with the flat 5.Then he taught me how to play boogie woogie type backing. Then how to tune to open E to play slide. This was in 1982,all of my friends wanted to do the tapping thing which is great.I wanted to bend notes and make it cry.I am still learning lol thanks T

@@TomoFujitaMusic I'm primarily an upright bass player (who plays guitar) so I can't add any more lessons to my schedule yet but one day I will check out Guitar Wisdom. I've been listening to your music for a long time, including watching you play at the old Acton Jazz Cafe a number of time. I'm just as happy watching you play songs even without a lesson since I can work on copying your phrases one at a time. It's great ear training.
Thanks so much!! Wow!!!
Wow! You’ve always got something wonderful to share. Mentioning your karate teachers 13th chord and describing them as a ‘country’ or ‘city’ or ‘mix’ is a way that I’ve never heard music described but it seems so inherently logical. I only found your channel a short while ago, but your perspective is fresh and very welcome

You can learn! Thank you!

Anything he plays just sounds like a different type of jazz
Agreed
I mean blues is kinda related to jazz so yeah makes sense lol
*They share some scales and notes, maybe that's why, and he's showing a lot of scales instead of sticking in just one.*
Agreed. he should stick with jazz.just because you know the notes doesn't mean you can play blues. Blues comes from the soul. If you cant feel it you cant play it
obviously youre not a real blues guitarist if you know anything more than the minor pentatonic
