      @@daveyponderosa9549 I wonder if they make steel mandolins.. I'm on a mandolin trend at the moment my last trend was a Hurdy Gurdy. Now one of those in steel would be grand. Before that was a Sitar.

    Why are the Gretsch spider cone models a few hundred dollars more than the similar biscuit cone models ❔❓
    ie. bobtail vs alligator in wood and bobtail vs honey dipper in metals ??

  • @iggythedog3922
    @iggythedog3922 8 лет назад +6

    Is it me, or does the G9221 sound a lot more like a regular acoustic, and less like a true "resonator" than the Gretsch "Honey Dipper"? Is it because of the "spider" bridge (Honey Dipper has the classic "biscuit" bridge). Or because the HD is brass while this is steel? I want the classic reso sound, delta blues style, but also the option to plug in. Gretsch doesn't seem to do that. Honey Dipper doesn't come electric/acoustic, and the G9221 doesn't sound come with the same hardware. What gives, Gretsch? If only we could put the two together.

      i have the same issue!!! ive had both of them on my cart for a month. im considering the slimline pickup for the honey dipper. which one did you go for? do you have any advice??

    • @jonasvm
      @jonasvm 5 лет назад +2

      ok following up here. i just bought this guitar and im sending it back and changing it for the honey dipper. honestly, it just isnt loud. it sounds almost as loud as my regular acoustic and man, i can pluck the strings hard. also, the spider bridge/cone i feel rattles on certain notes on the bass strings (it did impriove with lower gauge strings and tightening the spider). the pickup is good, but honestly, im after that acoustic resonator sound. ive always had a no electric/acoustic rule, which i broke for the first time in my life. lesson learned. im about to send the return email, if someone reminds me i posted this in a couple of weeks ill follow up.
