Looks very good, will definitely try it ! I would suggest putting the tomato paste in and cooking it a few minutes before the wine. Would also suggest beef or chicken stock instead of water. Would be even better ! Love your videos !!

Just cooked this tonight ,i must say ,superb , a delicious comfort food, this one is going to keep appearing on my dinner table . i followed the recipe exactly the only difference was the time ,i used beef brisket so about double the time on a very gentle simmer. thank you for creating the video i shall be trying more of your recipes cheers

This is exactly my recipe for beef but I sear then go 2.5 hrs @ 350
- fresh tomatoes, onion, butter, balsamic vinegar, red wine, dash of a1, lime and honey for the sauce. I like the bacon idea, as this works with shortribs too. The red wine reduction makes the dish though.

One remark on my side. In order to have beef tender I needed to cook it for around 5h. 1,5h is not enough. In the end the dish is amazing! Thanks for this!
No wonder it's delicious, bacon cooked in oil with butter, sugar and so much salt! I am NOT knocking it, I want it! , But, since my heart attack I have to pay attention to such things, I will try it but it's not a meal I could eat with any regularity. If I'm wrong, someone please tell me.

Might I inquire what the cut of beef was that you used. It looks like you used a bottom round of beef as it looked quite lean. Or was it a cut of sirloin.

What you're describing sounds like Beef pot roast which is a completely different dish.

we in vienna call this a gulash, the hungarin people call it pörkölt. I would cut the meat into smaller pieces and cook it at last for 4 to 6 hours on a small heat adding water or beer or wine, as needed. no flour, but thr same weight of onion and meat.
My European ancestors brought a paprika goulash recipe like this to Texas where it was flavored with local peppers and spice.
Today we call it Chili!
