- Irish Beef and Guinness Stew😍!
The secret behind the stew's depth of taste and color is Guinness Beer, which adds a savory touch without a beer-like tang. Rest assured, the alcohol content cooks off, leaving behind a delectable sauce. You can amp up the flavor by adding bacon, but it's optional. Treat yourself and your loved ones to this exceptional Hungarian stew recipe and let me know how you enjoy it! Have a delicious day 🥰😍🤗
INGREDIENTS:
2lb / 900g beef
Season with salt and black pepper

I’m fascinated by her movements between the table and the stove.
She wants it up there
I am from Ireland and from my Irish school home economics book Irish Stew is made with lamb, potatoes, onions, pepper and salt, water and chopped parsley.
I would definitely say the title is misleading. Most "traditional" recipes don't include a lot of ingredients because they were hard to come by or expensive and tend to be rather bland. This is definitely a modified version but still follows the concept
@@runtwer5700any stew would follow the concept…
@@pesmerga182 that's literally what I said
100% - this is not an Irish stew. Looks nice but not an Irish stew.
as soon as you see “add broth” - it’s from the US. They think everything Irish comes with Guinness, afraid to think of what a Russian stew would look like…? ;)))
I will definitely this beef stew recipe! The kids talking in the background, while you are preparing the dish reminds me so much of home. I remember helping my mom while she prepared dinner, my younger brothers in the background just yapping away and watching TV...
So glad you’ll give it a try😋👍 Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and memories💛
My mother would put potatoes directly in the stew mix, and whole onions since my older brother for some reason said he really dislike the texture of onions. I still do the whole onions today (last week in fact) . Since leaving Ireland 30 years ago and now living in San Diego if I want a good Irish stew I have to make it myself.
Same about the onions. My mom would put six whole onions in so the rest of us had at least half. I still prefer the texture of the onion half. Also, our parents let us drink half a stout each at dinner. Big kids got more.
Exact same! But I add pearl barley too near the end
You speak the truth. If you are Irish, see if you can find a clip of the unforgettable Una O’Connor in the movie “Christmas In Connecticut.” Her defense of ‘good old Irish stew” is priceless- and the entire movie is funny and heartwarming. 😇
I'm Irish, I am sitting here in Ireland now. Get the pasta out of that right now or call it something else! LOL
Bro I've never in my life seen "Irish" stew like that had my whole families my mates families etc never seen homem beef stew like at
Relax, her kids like it 🙄. Besides, my wife is Irish and she doesn't drink so where is the exception and where is the rule? 🤷🏻♂️🤣
The rule is the tradition. All exceptions are called something else. Italian here, I hate it when they butcher our traditional recipes too.
🤣🤣🤣.👍
lol you bogtrotters
Bacon first. Then use the bacon fat to flavor the beef. Then you will get a better fond as well. And always add the garlic right before you deglaze. If you cook the garlic more than a couple minutes over a direct flame it becomes very bitter.
Fantastic video. This is how my Irish mam made stew. She might have popped in a few drops of Worcester sauce when there was no Guiness to hand. If there were small potatoes available she often threw them in the last half hour to make the stew go further. It was great the next day too! Many thanks for the memories. Lecker indeed!
Thank you so much for sharing❤️ So happy that this recipe brought some special memories about your mom🙏🏻
She wore a G-string?
@@salparadisothong
@@salparadiso Yeah she wore a see through dress for clicks and put pasta in the stew, isn't that how all our Irish Mams do it?
I love the way she pickup food and walk back to stove, the whole body moving
The music makes the cooking so comforting, and you are such a lovely dream.

Aside from how absolutely delicious this looks, I never even realized just how beautiful preparing a meal could actually be.. thank you so much for sharing these wonderful videos

Aside from the meal, I eventually realized how beautiful a housewife could actually be!..🎉
its NOT IRISH!!!
it Not an Irish Dish.. where di you oome up with bacon, diced onions, pasta sauce, stock and worst of all PASTA???? what fantasy land are you living in, this is an insult to the Irish traditions.. @@EssenRecipes
Nobody is going to mention how beautiful the cook is??
Irrelevant
She's gorgeous in that white dress. That's the first thing I noticed. She did it on purpose
She could cook in my kitchen any time she wants!😊😊😊
Came here to learn a recipe....couldn't care less if it was "The Hairy Bikers" teaching me.
Lads, stop simping. We‘re here for the food!
My husband made this last night after seeing this video and it was Amazing! Can't wait to eat leftovers today
its not a traditional Irish stew.. no where near it.. despite what this lady think, we do NOT USE PASTA, let alone pasta sauce, nor stock, to make the stew... and as for diced onions.. seriously.. this lady knows how to cook an Irish stew as much as I know how to speak Chinese backwards..

My goodness! This looks so delicious!! I'd serve this over mashed potatoes. Thanks Sophie, for sharing another magical recipe.

Great idea!
Thank you for the reminder coming into winter for Irish Guinness Stew but I must point out that this dish only has potatoes. We always put them into casserole for whatever time it takes to cook them. Or bake them in silver foil and butter an hour before casserole is finished. Deeelishious x
I’m a noob, so thank you for adding details such as lower heat to medium. Heat is so important and I always end up burning my food or undercooking it. Looks delish!!!
Now that's a dish that's brought back some memories of when I was growing up. Thank you so very much for another fantastic recipe

Won't lie: came here for the recipe, but intrigued by the chef in a hot dress who danced to the stove. Yowza!
That was magical to watch as a irish person I need to try this 😍
Thank you for the feedback😄
My goodness! I like what I see. Absolutely stunning view of the soft and tender cut of meat. Going to have to try that with the beer. Thanks.
So glad you like it George❤️ Thanks so much for the feedback🤗 Sending you my best wishes as always!
I'm Hungry! Love "Irish" Stew, merci.
Thanks so much for leaving your feedback 💛
I mean it looks good, but I'm not sure why Pasta is anwhere near a traditional Irish stew, unles it was made by Mario O'Grady 😀
Her kids like pasta. That’s why she made it as a side dish.
I'm not sure how you missed her annotation that she made pasta for her kids, and that mashed potatoes would also be 'yummy'.
Or the garlic or the bacon or the tomato paste or the bay leaf....
Does look tasty though.
Mario O’Grady!! 😂🤣😂🤣
And no potatoes!!!
This looks good. I made a beef stew last winter with Guinness and it was something else. My family who doesn't drink alcohol loved it. I put mine in a slow cooker for 8 hours after getting a sear on the beef. I also use egg noodles.
One thing I like to do in order to make things a bit easier is to cook the beef at the start as big "steaks" (in my area, beef chuck is sold in roasts at least 2 inches thick, so I cut them thinner for this) so it's really well browned on both sides. When you take it out, you can let it rest before cutting it into smaller cubes and adding it back in later. I find it a bit annoying to turn and remove all those little pieces individually, and you're really only getting good browning on two sides anyway. The end result is about the same. Beef stews are my favorite food, I make them a lot =)
The beef might be more juicy but the carmelization may not be enough
Your tools, from the knives to the pots, are absolutely gorgeous
Looks delicious. Stew looks nice too.
Cheeky. Lol
Love my daily Sophie. Such mad knife skills and lovely hands. And then...there is the cooking. I'm so jealous of your husband and kids.
Wow.. Guinness.. one of my favorite beers. Nice recipe ❤💚💙
So happy to hear it😄❤️ Thanks for sharing! Wishing you a wonderful week🤗
Guinness is stout, not beer. Just FYI.
Yes, thank you brother 🙏❤💙❤@@GavSaysPogMoThoin
Skip the pasta. Chuck some spuds in for the last 30 min 👍. Lovely recipe
Thank you Sophie, a wonderful meal for a chilly day. God bless you and your family.

It looks really delicious
Seeing this made me crave a Guinness
That looks sooo good! A traditional Irish stew w/out any potatoes in it? Interesting! Thanks for another great recipe. 😃
A lot of garlic also
Traditional siciliano stew
She has called it a traditional Irish stew cos there's Guinness in it. Being Irish and have had plenty of stews, I have never heard of putting beer into stew!
This is a stew, definitely not an Irish stew. If my Ma seen Pasta being put in a stew ye would be battered half to death with a big wooden spoon.
I’m SOOOOO excited about this new venture! I will support you in any way you deem necessary!😊😊 Now, I may be jumping the gun, but I thought you might be starting a pod cast….or a “Q n A”!
Thank you so much for all the support💖💖💖 Sending you lots of hugs and wishing a beautiful week ahead🤗
Hi 👋, I am new to your channel, I enjoy watching 👀 you make your stew , because of where I live, I make Boeuf Bourguignon , I live by myself, so I make enough for at least 10 meals, it takes me about 7-9hr depending on when I start cooking,
Watching you cook is sheer pleasure, 😂.
St Patrick the patron saint of pasta shells
The pasta surprised me I confess lol, but sure, give it a go anyway! I'd be surely missing my spuds 'n turnips in such a stew though!
Add spuds and turnips if you want them, but the nice thing about ladling the stew over small shell pasta is that the shell pasta picks up some of the gravy and holds it in its little well to add more gravy flavor to each pasta bite...imo.
Well done loving hands for her family
Thank you so much 😊
Delicious and Hearty meal, loved seeing the beef easily beak apart. Kids + Pasta = Joy! You are an Angel in your home!

Te amo!
Riquísimo. Gracias
Muchas gracias💛

My Belfast granny never cooked pasta with an Irish stew. Potatoes in the stew, yes. Or mashed Potatoes served with stew poured over top. I get it that kids like pasta.....but it ain't Irish.
Cool. No credits to ireland then.
No garlic either
To be fair, potatoes aren't Irish either 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
@hatoffnickel perhaps they originally came from elsewhere, (places like Peru I believe)but there was literally, the Irish potato famine.

Yeah, because the Irish have been cutting their onions that fine for centuries. It came before the knife. Then there's the beef and garlic. They also invented stir frys and fortune cookies, after defeating a leprechaun.
