    Great flight demo Michael. That plane looks really good in your hands, it looks like it would help someone transitioning to the next level learning more advanced maneuvers without putting a lot of money at risk. Thanks for sharing.

    Beautiful flying, Michael - as always! I mean the promo video from HH is pretty cool already, but I like yours even better 😊. Actually, I was just about to purchase the UMX Turbo Timber or Timber X and I was happy that I had such a hard time to decide on which one. Then the announcement of the new Timber Evo arrived. Besides all of the flying capabilities, I thing just the sound level is worth deciding for this one. Seems like with the development of the Voodoo, E-flite learned that UMX-es on 2 or 3S do not have to scream 😆. What an amazing little plane - I can't wait it to come abroad, but I'm afraid that this will still take some time 🙄

    Hi Michael, great flying, inspirational to watch especially when you fly aircraft like the timber, it gives all of us UMX owners something to aim towards, and shows all the critics of small foamies what real skill looks like. Please can you tell me, when you knife edge your timbers are you flying it manually on all channels, or have you set up mixing to help take some of the pilot load? Thanks for all the great videos keep them coming.

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  День назад +1

      Thank you for your comments!!! I have never set up a knife edge mix and prefer to fly knife edge manually. It’s mostly because I’m old school (yes I am old) and that’s how I learned to knife edge. I guess it’s just what I am comfortable with.

    I just got this bird and flew it. I’m not liking the differential on the ailerons. One aileron full up the other side barely down. In this video are you flying it stock out of the box? I’m not liking the roll rate. How can I improve the roll rate? Thanks

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  7 месяцев назад

      Other than mechanically maxing out the elevator and rudder control throw it is stock. With this plane you do need to keep the speed up to increase the effectiveness of the ailerons. If you slow down too much they get mushy.

    Okay...2-1/2 years of watching you fly so smoothly, I gotta ask a couple of questions. 1) Thumbs or pincher? 2) How much expo do you tend to use?

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  Год назад +3

      I currently fly with my thumbs on top of the sticks and have since I started in 1973. This could change down the road as while I am still 15 years old between the ears my thumbs are 65 years old and not as steady as they once were. I will probably need to go to the pinch to smooth them out again. Depending on the plane I run anywhere from 25% expo to 65% expo but generally I use 30% to 40%. I was flying with 25% expo on all 3 surfaces in the video but I'm going to increase the expo on the elevator as it still a little sensitive.

    • @gmorphan
      @gmorphan Год назад +1

      @@michaelclinerc3211 Thanks so much for the sanity check. I'm 62 and only started flying RC 3 years ago...I'm hooked! I've been setting up my planes with plenty of expo (25% min), as I feel that I need to numb the center in order to smoothly modulate the control surfaces. I couldn't imagine being one of the guys that says "Expo? What's that?"...stick movements would need to be tiny in order to fly smoothly. I'm a fan of expo verses reducing rates, I've been bit by low rates when I've not had the movement when needed. Oh...I'm stuck on thumbs too, I started that way and made some attempts to go to pinching, but it was just too awkward for me.
      While I really like a bunch of the RC folks, in my opinion you are the smoothest, most technical RC pilot I've ever seen. Adam at Model AV8R is a close 2nd. 😉

      @@gmorphan When I first learned to fly in 1973 my instructor was a pattern flyer and he emphasized smooth deliberate flying. He also made it a point to teach me about maneuver placement in relation to the flight line and to try and center each maneuver you perform. What he taught me way back when is still ingrained in my flying today.
