I am using my iPhone 11 attached to a homemade balsa wood mount that is bolted to the bill of a ball cap. It’s not fancy but it works.

@@michaelclinerc3211 There are still quite a few of us out there on Mode 1. Started many years ago when it was just about used by most, coming back after a long layoff tried Mode 2 and long term memory wasn't going to change.

Thanks John! The flap/elevator mix is the recommended mix from the manual. It’s really close if not right on so I recommend starting there. The NX7e is a perfect radio for me. It has enough channels to be able to fly any of the E-flite BNF’s and Hangar 9 ARF’s that I have. It’s reasonably priced and I think it looks pretty cool. I record all my videos using my iPhone 11 mounted in a homemade balsa wood bracket that is attached to the bill of a ball cap. For what it lacks in sophistication it more than makes up for with functionality.

Thank you!!! Surprisingly (or not) I am prone to lose one or two per year. It’s usually when I’m performing a maneuver too low and typically ends in a spectacular fashion. I’ve never gotten it on video but if I do I’ll be sure to share.

Thanks Sunrise!!! I had to look up the TL2000 but I do see the similarities.

The instructions are in the manual and it’s really easy to set up. Even though there is a water rudder the reverse thrust is very helpful for floatplane operations. If you get a Super Timber definitely look into setting it up.

You can use the DX6e and will allow you to have flaps and SAFE. You won’t be able to use thrust reversing though.

Thanks Matt!!! I appreciate your comments. Both are outstanding flying planes. But, having flown both the for a while now the Air Tractor has an ever so slight of an edge over the Conscendo mostly because of its ability to perform knife edge, flat spins and pop-tops.

It is, in my experience, the best flying Timber yet. Yes it is a little pricey but you get a lot for your money.

I think you should get one Doug. It’s a lot of fun to fly.

Thank you for your comments!!! I have never set up a knife edge mix and prefer to fly knife edge manually. It’s mostly because I’m old school (yes I am old) and that’s how I learned to knife edge. I guess it’s just what I am comfortable with.

There is a long sleeved cable that comes with the plane. It attaches to the fuselage with the pre attached clips. It loops by the float strut then back to the water rudder. It’s not the most precise setup but it’s functional.

@@michaelclinerc3211 Thanks Michael! I ended up finding that cable you speak of I have it all set up, but I can’t seem to get it to work correctly. The cable just get binds up. I just can only turn right when it turns left. The cable doesn’t have enough rigidity to push the Rutter left, not sure if you have the same issue.

Thanks Tobbe! I really appreciate your sub! I also have flown the Valiant 1.3m on floats and it makes for a very nice float plane. The Super Timber definitely has the edge in the power department though.

Hi John, the foam BNF’s have definitely made the hobby easier from when I started 51 years ago but I still find I enjoy a wood ARF from time to time. I’m not quite to the point of building a plane from a kit or scratch building again but I have been thinking about it… maybe this winter.

@@michaelclinerc3211 Don't think about it, get the plans out and work out what you would like to build. I'm currently working on a Fly Baby for an OS .55 and have from the obligatory Cub only 42" though, a 54" version of Hanno Prettner's Curare great for windy days, a couple around 60", my favourite size, and a 100" Sig Riser. For an ARF the Dolphin looks great and as I noted made a lot better by the pilot.

Because it's fun to push planes beyond design, and it's more challenging than just grabbing an Extra300 😊 Plus, it's hard to put floats on an Extra300? Showing what it's capable of and you're free to fly it however you like?

Although it's marketed as a STOL airplane it's really much more versatile than that. Plus I like to demonstrate the complete range of what the plane is capable of performing. I actually held back a little for the float flying demonstration as it is capable of much more.

It's really an easy plane to fly. If you're comfortable with a trainer you should have no issues with the Super Timber.

Although the Super Timber is reasonably easy to fly I would recommend something like the Apprentice or AeroScout as a first plane. Once you are comfortable with one of those you should have no issues moving to the Super Timber. Once you are comfortable flying the Super Timber I'd recommend the Cherokee 1.3m as a first low wing. All are outstanding flying planes.

Unfortunately my Sterling Fledgling is long gone. I do have a few pictures somewhere in my RC archives.
