  • The E-flite Super Timber makes for a great float plane. Using the Apprentice floats it easily gets off the water and the floats are hardly noticeable while in flight. Float flying is such an enjoyable part the hobby that I highly recommend it.

    I agree The Super Timber is awesome on floats. I had to mod the water rudder to a Servo Steering but very good now. Great video.

      I'm not completely happy with how the water rudder is set up and it took a bit of fiddling with it to make it reasonably functional.

    Love float flying above glass. I do lots of low and slow, watching the reflection and the actual plane creep near each other.
    Gonna take a look at this combo for a better performance option. I'm currently on the foamie Valiant, which I love but it's not a power house.

      Thanks Tobbe! I really appreciate your sub! I also have flown the Valiant 1.3m on floats and it makes for a very nice float plane. The Super Timber definitely has the edge in the power department though.

    Flying in floats is super awesome :) My favorite part ist landing on really short places. But have done it just a few times. I’m missing nice places to try it out. What’s was really cool too was splash and go as you mention but with that gliding portion over the water surface ❤. Best regards and thanks for the video!!

    How do you make the reverse thrust work? I am a beginner and this interests me. I have an Apprentice and bought the floats for it, but have never tried them. Thanks

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  28 дней назад

      The instructions are in the manual and it’s really easy to set up. Even though there is a water rudder the reverse thrust is very helpful for floatplane operations. If you get a Super Timber definitely look into setting it up.

    How did you get the rudder controls hooked up. The pushrod that comes with the plane I can’t get hooked up it’s way too short.

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  Месяц назад +1

      There is a long sleeved cable that comes with the plane. It attaches to the fuselage with the pre attached clips. It loops by the float strut then back to the water rudder. It’s not the most precise setup but it’s functional.

    • @Crzytrip
      @Crzytrip Месяц назад

      @@michaelclinerc3211 Thanks Michael! I ended up finding that cable you speak of I have it all set up, but I can’t seem to get it to work correctly. The cable just get binds up. I just can only turn right when it turns left. The cable doesn’t have enough rigidity to push the Rutter left, not sure if you have the same issue.

    I put my floats on my older timber 1.5 bottom feeder ugh. Going to float fly for the second time at a lake this weekend If I crash I'm buying this. Lol. And put the floats on my 3s UMx as well for the second time. Make me nervous fly over water. I'm kinda a rookie though. Lol.

      you're going to do great! Just remember to hold a little up elevator when you first advance the throttle. Once it gets up on the step relax the elevator a little to let it build a little speed then ease in up elevator to lift off. But most importantly have fun and enjoy the experience.

    WHY does Every vid show any design doing acrobatic stuff even when the design is better suited to something other. Aren't there designs expressly made to Toss around in the sky?

    • @CR5rc
      @CR5rc Месяц назад +1

      Because it's fun to push planes beyond design, and it's more challenging than just grabbing an Extra300 😊
      Plus, it's hard to put floats on an Extra300?
      Showing what it's capable of and you're free to fly it however you like?

    • @michaelclinerc3211
      @michaelclinerc3211  Месяц назад +2

      Although it's marketed as a STOL airplane it's really much more versatile than that. Plus I like to demonstrate the complete range of what the plane is capable of performing. I actually held back a little for the float flying demonstration as it is capable of much more.
