- Even though the weather doesn’t seem like the best for flying (understatement) snow flying is really a lot of fun. The E-flite Maule M-7 is completely at home flying off the snow and made for an enjoyable outing.

Looks like a great model on floats, and easy to fly.

Thanks Chris! I removed the water rudder to avoid it getting damaged as for some reason it is not spring loaded. Otherwise it really flies nice with the floats on it off the snow.
@@michaelclinerc3211 I've never tried a water rudder on snow. Never needed more than what the rudder and a blast of prop wash provides.
I flew my Maule off the snow last winter, once this -40⁰C cold snap passes I'll outfit a couple planes with floats and get some more video. Right now just have the UMX and 1.2m Twin Otters on floats. Still need to put the shoes on the Twimber, Timber-x, Maule, and EC-1500.

Thanks Adam. I don’t get as excited for snow like I used to be. It’s just started snowing again and we’re expecting another 12” of cold blowing snow.
@michaelclinerc3211 whew! Man. I don't know if I've seen 12 inches of snow in Georgia if you added all i've seen in my lifetime. Lol.
We had such a nice, mild December I was able to fly a lot, but decent flying weather will be a challenge from now until April. Where in Georgia are you located?

Great flight Michael, that Maule is a great all around platform for a daily flyer. Slow enough to be lazy yet agile enough to keep it fun. I can't make it look that smooth but it is still fun.

Thank you very much! I’ve never flown a DLG but they look like fun.
DLG are a lot of fun... as long as you set it up correctly and throw it right, seen a lot of videos of guys do things wrong and end up destroying their model throwing it wrong because they didn't set up a proper launch flight mode.
You throw it level not up, the launch mode on a momentary switch (I use the bind button) takes care of the rotation upwards.
Start gentle and work on perfecting your form before you throw it hard. I've got a few videos of mine up if you'd like to check them out.

@@Cad1900 if you want to get in cheaper, look into the Malibu. It was my first, it has a 1m span and a fraction of the price of my newer 1.5m ones.

did you retract or remove the water rudder(s) for this flight? i really wish eflite made a set of "tundra skis" - the WIDE kind that would attach to big tundra tires, rather than having to remove the wheels to add those tiny dubro plastic skis.
I do remove the water rudder for snow flying. It turns on the snow very easily without it. I have found from experience that unless the snow is packed floats work better.
It's a pity that the Maule has been discontinued after a relatively short life span. Seems like it didn't sell too good?

Do you have to modify the plane or protect the electronics before winter flying ?
The only change I made was to remove the water rudder from the float. It is not spring loaded so I didn’t want to damage it. That’s it!
Obviously, i have stop following you because this was not a scale flight. 🤣🤣🤣. Keep killing the game!

Do you get depressed because of the weather or you got used to it!
You kind of get used to it but by the middle of February I’ll be sick of it.
