It’s extraordinary how strong his voice is here. He shredded every song from this wonderful classic playlist. And some beyond rare gems - I Once Wrote Some Poems - holy cow! More than anything else I love this cause it’s the first and only time I’ve heard live performances of his that virtually mirror the studio versions which is a vast improvement over a lot of his live stuff - to me. This is Hammill treasure of the highest order. Thanks for posting!!! Hands down best live Hammill on You Tube.
Fantastic unearthed treasure... What a chance all this bootleggers that have keeped testimonies of past years... Something no commercial companies have never done ! And thanks to internet to share all this ! 1974 ! Almost an half century ! Thanks Peter for all your career...
I managed to last until Forsaken Gardens before the tears flowed. Longer than I expected. Peter Hammill/VDGG was the soundtrack accompanying my teens; songs that were not merely close to the bone, but right on it where it hurt. I'm an old git now, but I will always feel these tracks deep inside. I've perused the track listing and there's Easy To Slip Away coming. Oh dear. A fabulous recording. Thanks so much for uploading.
@@deslandes1298 I certainly shall as I've now had at a look at your channel now. I've got a number of other VDGG/Hammill live recordings that I really ought to upload.
@@BiSIDOLISDEAD that would be wonderful! It's a shame there isn't that many records easily available in here, when I have more time I too want to upload more
I’m gonna put a ditto on that except I was in my twenties and it was the 80s. After a friend introduced his stuff to me it dominated for a decade. Soundtrack to rite of passage. This track is so wonderful as it is incredibly faithful to the studio album and his (young) voice still had incredible chops live.
One month before i saw him opening for Genesis 2 nights in a row in Montreal! No piano though...My first concerts ...it was amazing ...That was maybe the best year live for Peter concerning the set list...TXS for uploading this amazing concert...I once wrote some poems is very different in the opening and this version is great
@@deslandes1298 Hey Thanks... it's great to see that...the first time i saw Hammill..and went back on sunday night not for Genesis but for him... I think it was maybe my 3 rd rock show...Shawn Phillips has been the first in april 73 and Soft machine and Maneige (the second) I had at that moment Fool's mate , H to He, Chameleon Pawn Hearts and The least.... i was crazy about VDGG and Hammill , so crazy that 4 years later i would organize the june concerts in Quebec province...What a time it was...!
Exacto. Y mientras cambia de colocación vocal, glisando ascendentes y descendientes, voz suave, de repente se convierte en un mounstro, vibrato... Todo eso muchas veces con (como dices) con solo una columna de aire. Impresionante. Jamás he escuchado a nadie como él.

Probably one of his best solo piano songs

La versione di "House with no Door" è da pianto.
