- Peter Hammill performing live in the studio for Swiss TV in 1974. I've fixed the synchronization and improved sound quality compared to the original (which was amazing by itself), keeping the picture intact.
This is indeed a very rare find, and I wish to thank those who made it possible.

I never understood why PH was not universally considered as one of the greatest singer composer in history. And notably these 10 magical 1967 - 77 years. A stunning performance. The importance of his music in my life as a young man was "immense"
A Black Box is up there with his best albums. Fogwalking, In Slow Time, sound absolutely lightyears ahead. And Flight is amazing too

I was fortunate to see him solo at The Bottom Line in NYC back in the late 90s and got to meet him after the show. I can't even begin to describe what it was like seeing and hearing him in such a small place with just a guitar, piano and that voice. My God.

PH helped me tremendously through my difficult childhood. The complexity of his lyrics and his masculine intense sensitivity matched my pain deep inside. I didn't understand what kind of world we were thrown in. PH said it all. ''The Lie'' is a mirror image of my vision of my own life. So incredible to hear someone encompass my life's shortcomings and torture in a quasi-religious lament.
Peter Hamill is surely a kindred spirit of mine.
When he plays piano I hear a sublime uplifting soundtrack of my life that few if any other musicians can evoke in me - then his intensely personal lyrics strike a chord with me and I realise I am not alone in my torment.
I fear that I have exposed my soul to this pernicious genius that feeds my self loathing and I cannot close this melancholy Pandoras box now that I have opened it.
I have never heard any other artist express his inner demons and fears so earnestly and so eloquently, encapsulated in such baroque musical majesty and I am sure I may have shuffled off this mortal coil if I did not have music such as this to give me a reason to endure another day.
I first heard Peter and VdGG when I was 13. I am now 63 and thanks to Peter I understand that life is complex, painful, confusing and tormented but most of all worth living if only to experience the twisted beauty it can offer such as his music.

Peter Hamill is the musician’s musician, the Artist’s artist, the Poet’s poet. If you haven’t found his work yet, you will if you are looking for something extraordinary.
The only guy able to write song and play music that fit my inner mind. Many thanks to have populated my life for so long; now.
I've been a big fan and admirer of PH since the early VDGG days way back in the early 70s. He's consistently performed his brilliant thoughtful and crafted songs for decades. The most original and creative singer songwriter to come out of the UK.

Fantastic!!!! I was lucky enough to see him in a solo concert in San Francisco Ca.......he played a small punk club...called The Mabuhey Garden.....1978....only held about 200 or 300 people...... ..the show was unbelieveable!!! As intense as this performance.... And just as heartbreaking!!!.........After the concert....I walked home completely engulfed in his World.....and ended up playing his albums , listening on headphones, and drawing until dawn.
I saw him on the same tour, at the tiny Bijou Cafe in Philadelphia. Mesmerizing.

Muy pocas cosas emocionan, perturban, maravillan, te congelan y encienden simultaneamente. La música de Peter Hammill te permite viajar en ese tobogán de emociones.. no importa cuantas veces la escuche, siempre me ocurre lo mismo....
I absolutely love this raw and brutally intense performance. I've been a ph fan since the 80's and as a fan of both prog and metal, I think ph alone at his piano is truly as genuinely heavy (and heady) as music gets!
This is just totally off the scale ! Surely the best performances of 3 of his best ever songs. You don't sit and just listen to Peter - you are nailed to the wall of his incredible honesty and intensity and cannot leave until you have absorbed all that he has to give.
And what a gift this is.
Every human should be made to sit through this and if they are not touched in any way then you should be afraid of them.

Brilliant find . Incidentally , the same cloak he wore on the cover of In Camera. I used to have a badge with Peter Hammill's monogram on it . Many European countries appreciated VDGG and Hammill much more than his own country, which is why he spent most of his solo career touring Italy, Germany, Belgium et al .

Que maravila poder disfrutar de una actuación de esta calidad, tanto visual como interpretativa después de 47 años. En los 70 en España era prácticamente imposible ver algo así por tv, o comprar un disco de Hammill o Van der Graaf Generator... sabias que existían, pero no teníamos acceso a ellos.
