Ask melo about that who will get in for fucking no reason but I give him ncaa chip that’s it . Olympic doesn’t mean shit USA is suppose to beat down everyone no contest no matter what no fucking excuse it’s more prestigious when another country lay the smackdown on USA it’s just the gift and curse. As a Lakers Fan I have to say that Manu was my most hated player... You know how everyone has a player they dislike because they beat their team and not because of their personality.... Manu was that guy for me. I respected his game more than Timmy(and that's saying something) because when watching those games it felt like Manu was the heart and Soul. Pop was the Brain, Timmy was the Spine-Back-Shoulders, Bowen was the Guts, Tony was the Legs and the bench was the Arms & Joints...

WCF is the *real* "NBA Finals".
Portland & Sacramento put up good fights.
New Jersey & Indiana were home Finalists.
Lakers went to four straight Finals... played a different team every time - meanwhile it was LAL *or* SAS repping the West for the best part of decade.
      Magic had Kareem AND Worthy.
      Malone, Stockton (or vice versa).

Allen Iverson never won a ring either, and he was asked to come off the bench as well later in his career. I am a long time Spurs fan, waaaaay back when the Ice Man donned the Spurs uniform. I say that because it was more about the Spurs culture. Outside of the great team in Denver Melo never had an opportunity to win a championship. Charles Barkley never came off the bench, Nor did Karl Malone, nor did Patrick Ewing. NONE of them won a ring, so let's not make this a hate on Melo, following the media driven narrative about him. I am also a native of Baltimore. I say that because I don't and never will understand the fan hate/dislike of Carmelo. He was not a bad teammate, he never had a ton of off court issues once he matured as a man. He did have a few transgressions early in his career. Melo is a top 20 scorer in the history of the game, he's the all time leading scorer in USA basketball history. He was the leader on a moribound Nuggets team that CONSISTENTLY made the playoffs while he was the best player..... His teams in NY sorta of like the current Knicks teams SUCKED and were undermined by poor management. He did have an opportunity to leave and play for a contender, HOWEVER the cost was 50 million dollars. I couldn't UNDERSTAND then why people were angry he opted to take the money. 99% of people in his position wouldn't sacrifice that amount of money. ANYWAY, why knock Melo when this should be a celebration for the greatness and sacrifice of Manu Ginobli. The fact that Melo was even brought into the conversation is perplexing to me? What did Melo do to stain his legacy with fans? Even the great Dominique Wilkins has asked the same questions about Melo....why do fans dislike him so much????

I would take Manu, 2 time all-star HOF player than Carmelo Anthony, 10 time all-star.

Melo is a little bit underrated now, because of what happened in the last couple of seasons. But he was one of the best scorers in his prime, in the iso ball era. For about 10 years as a matter of fact, so 10 times all-star seems about right. Manu should have been selected more than 2 times, but he was up against strong competition in the west. Kobe and Melo were just ahead of Manu in terms of stats, which always seems to be a deciding factor. Manu was just as good as Kobe and Melo imo: the ultimate team player, played less minutes, but was just as important.

Manu sums up what it is to be selfless and do what it takes for the greater good of the team. Pop and his staff seen an opportunity for him to come off the bench and lead as a sixth man and he accepted that role with gusto. Undeniable talent, great family man, leader and role model for kids and adults alike. He is an absolute legend and I enjoyed watching him ball out for Spurs every single night. Enjoy retirement Manu, Class act

as a child growing up watching NBA during 2000s, I always thought Manu only came off the bench because he wanted to win sixth man of the year, because the guy was definitely good enough to be a starter player, the best players on the Spurs in my mind was always: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, then Manu

Manu will never get the respect and praise he deserves yea they see him as a great “bench” player and even acknowledge him that he should’ve been a starter he should’ve been a STAR he took over the playoffs and finals in various points of his career by far one of the most clutch and creative offensive players to play the game
