@@danielpetit-frere2376 a semi doesn't work like a regular car, you hit the brakes or the emergency brake all you're gonna do is destroy them, your best bet is to try to shift down and try to come to a stop that way

I still remember watching this movie all the time on Telecine back in 1999/2000. It was the start of my passion for trucks. Well, this and the first "Hard Truck" game.
Patrick Swayze and Randy Travis in the same movie 🎥. What a couple of power house entertainers. And, you’ve got to love the Peterbilt and the Cat 3406B powering that fine 379. 😊
I miss seeing the other kind of semis "cabovers" on the roads here in the USA although the length limit increased. I remember back in the 1980s & down I saw a mix of cabovers & conventional cabs around. Today the only cabovers I see around are fire trucks, garbage trucks, yard trucks, & small non semi box trucks.
Where I live here in Middle Georgia some of the local truck drivers still run Cabovers like them old Cabover Internationals and Freightliner FLA and I even still see a few Peterbilt and Kenworth Cabovers from time to time
Here in Montana a lot of O/O and intercity delivery companies still use cabovers. There’s one guy out of Joliet who has a White Freightliner with a Detroit, several 352 Pete’s used by bull haulers (I count at least 10), a few Internationals, and one guy in Laurel who has a GMC Astro.
I had forgotten about this movie until some idiot posted a part one from this scene on tiktok and didn’t post part 2 so naturally i had to do it myself. Now i gotta watch the whole damn movie for the first time in well over 20 years
Doesn't matter what engine was in the truck, with the whole front end of that Pete was against the trailer, that head gasket should have gone POOF!..... which is what looked like happened when they first started up the hill, when those balls of white smoke, rolled out the stacks..... but, that's a movie for you..... I still enjoy watching it 👍
Nah, pushing like that won't blow a head gasket. The white smoke looks a lot more like a stopped up fuel filter. But the white smoke is almost certainly kerosene injected into the exhaust to make smoke on purpose. Common trick in the movies.
I've seen the green cement mixer that Junior dodges just before hitting the tanker trailer, it's a big Diamond REO Giant owned by a cement company in Southwest Pennsylvania, with the exact color scheme. I'm pretty sure most of this scene was filmed out in Pennsylvania or Western Maryland
"Ain't nothing like a Caterpillar engine" as you hear the scream of a Detroit🤣
It probably is a caterpillar engine though
The 379 from this movie had a 3406 caterpillar.

Can we talk about the Cat that smokes and sounds a a 2 stroke Detroit
Almost sounds like a 12v92 kinda
They used an 8v92 for the motor sounds to make it sound more throaty
So I'm not the only one that thinks that this is a 3406 cat with me that does sound like a two-stroke Detroit and they also say that's a 10-speed it looks like an 18-speed to me
