There was no going back for reshoots of previous scenes, and no second takes if half the explosives were duds. This was it, and they freaking nailed it 👌
Before the film crew blew up the refinery set they had to inform any airline companies whose planes may have been flying close by and the mines in the area.
What I love was when Max got extra serious shot off both barrels of that shotgun, it was enough to level the playing field, as now Humungus’ raiders lost about 1/5 of their guys in just one shot.
I think my list is only 3 or 4, but I consider this a perfect movie. Watching this clip, and I don't think I've seen the whole movie in 20 years, I can see the tiny clues of how old it is. But to have barely been a teen when this came out, in the early days of punk rock, it was like a miracle!!!
Is see Furiosa as a couple generations past this timeline. Furiosa’s time has perfected “road war.” Perhaps the Feral Kid passed down this technique of fortifying semi rigs for battle.

I sometimes scoff at how ineffectual the War boys are. But these guys were the OG Losers. They sent the B squad for sure. Those clowns only took out ONE car before they all three got wasted. Even Papa Gallo , didn’t even take out one motorcycle… JUST BUMP THEM, dummy… before he got knifed in the back by Humongous.
Well this whole rig chase was a planned suicide mission to put as much distance as possible between the actual fuel carriers and Humungus' gang. And there's also a strategic diffrence between two groups. One group consists of ex-civilians who only knew how to defend the gate so they probably used the same method defending the rig. Second group is a gang consisting of ex-military and ex-MFP who were trained for road wars.
The most ineffectual security detail. Missed all the good shots. Got themselves killed in a most gruesome way. You'd think having survived for so long they'd have better skills and awareness.

If anyone is curious, the head on crash with Max , slow to stop the scene. You will see how the crash was done. Simple but effective.
